Rebecca's cell phone records

I don't believe you are correct. The bill is for the service, not the phone itself.

Whomever paid for the phone is the one who owns the phone.

So if I buy a phone and give it to you, for you to make calls, and you pay phone bills, it's still mine? Is that what you are saying?

I am glad that Rebecca's phone records are available, as they tell part of the story of that night. Without the other four people's cell records, there will never be an accurate picture of what did occur.

So, with so many issues involved, how can LE still be stating they will not reopen the case?:waitasec:

Yes the bill is in her name. What right does the sheriff's department have to keep her belongings?

I believe LE does require proof of ownership before releasing personal property whether it be cell phone or car.

Rebecca's phone should have shown a missed call. Anyone know what kind of phone she owned? Perhaps this is why LE did not show us a photo of her phone in the guest bedroom...

The KFMB CBS 8 article says she had a "newer-model" Windows Phone. The AT&T web site only lists four Windowns phones:

Samsung Focus
LG Quantum
HTC HD7S
HTC Surround

Well, the information in which we (and the Zahau family) are interested is in the service which was used, not in the plastic phone itself. I can't imagine trying to get information on a phone which you purchased (happy birthday, darling) but which is being billed to someone else. Proof of ownership would be difficult.
My mother-in-law gave us a very elaborate landline phone- which she had bought for herself but couldn't figure out how to use. She paid for it, but our name is on the bill.

If proof of ownership is then required before releasing a dead person's belongings and the only person that can produce evidence of ownership is dead - then how does ANYONE get their belongings back? I know my family would have a difficult time finding receipts, etc, for my things. Even I couldn't do so without some effort. Come on, this is the most ridiculous contention I've heard so far. That's absolutely a pathetic excuse.

No, I'm saying the phone belongs to whomever bought it and paid for the service.

I don't think the name on the bill means anything. My name is on my bill but I don't actually pay for it. I do wonder what ownership does mean in phone terms- whoever pays the bills? Whoever bought the phone and/or services.?

I think you are making an assumption that someone other than RN can not provide proof of ownership of the cell phone. I think JS paid the bills and can prove it.

Wouldn't the company have those record of ownership?

Even if bought the phone, since he gave it to her it was her phone.

Well, since her name is on the bill, it is her phone. Doesn't matter who bought the phone. A lot of people re sell phones on ebay, amazon, craigs list etc. Are yu saying that the person who activates that phone, doesn't own it?

Whomever paid for the phone, owns the phone. It is no different than if you own a car and allow somebody else to drive it.

This contradicts the police report which says only XZ and RZ were in the home at the time of the accident. Did GS perhaps leave before MS was injured? It'd be interesting to check flight records.

That Arizona article is interesting. The autopsy report says RZ and XZ were the only ones in the home at the time of MS's fall. GS may have been of the home with JS at the time? But it does lead to the possibility that the women's clothing in the bedroom of the guest house could belong to either XZ or GS. If both girls were staying at the mansion, it would make more sense to me that GS would stay in the main house (with MS) and XZ would stay in the guest house.

If you give it to someone as a present, it ain't your car anymore.

What would be the point of putting her name on the bill if she was not considered the owner?

The reason my name is on the bill is to separate my account - calls and services from the main account holder. Surely there is some kind of factual info we can get about this question!

are we talking about ownership of the physical phone? or of the phone records/account?
2 different animals.
