If you give it to someone as a present, it ain't your car anymore.
If her phone is issued under his name, as in his account, it's legally his.

Well, since her name is on the bill, it is her phone. Doesn't matter who bought the phone. A lot of people re sell phones on ebay, amazon, craigs list etc. Are yu saying that the person who activates that phone, doesn't own it?
No, I'm saying whomever paid for the phone itself, owns the phone. It is no different that any other piece of personal property. People can switch carriers and still own the phone.

I think you are making an assumption that someone other than RN can not provide proof of ownership of the cell phone. I think JS paid the bills and can prove it.

It is if my name is still on the car's title.

I don't know how the AT&T bills work, but it says user name: Rebecca Zahau, so she may have been one of many users and JS was the billing name.
IMO
What about people who get their phone free, when they pay the activation charge? Do they not own their phone, as they didn't pay for it.
What this boils down to, is, if JS has said anything about owning the phone is unknown. It has been referred to by LE as Rebecca's phone. If anyone does not want Rebecca's family to have the phone this is a BIG FAT STINKING RED flag!!! Why wound ANYONE, including LE or JS even care?!
Sheesh!!! Let's discuss something more important, not ownership that was proven, in my mind, when LE stated it was Rebecca's phone.
are we talking about ownership of the physical phone? or of the phone records/account?
2 different animals.

Thx for list of calls/texts.
So, a flurry of calls.
----Why is JS 1230 call not listed as incoming call- why left off? Seems like that is the most important one, as LE says it caused RN to commit suicide.
--- I figure RN picked AS up at airport. They went to hospital to pick up JS for dinner. Went to dinner -where? Then, AS and JS went to ICU. RN not allowed. RN called JS -who did not answere. Rather, AS called back to say pick me up front of hospital, then they drove home. Then, according to him - He last saw her at 8PM. So, they did not bother to chat, but went their own ways at the mansion. I suppose it was 10PM TN time, and as a tugboat man, he was used to early to bed, early to rise and crashe (or something...)
--- If JS says he made that last call, did he call AS with the bad news too? Did DS call her twin at that time?
----Also important to remember the state of mind of all family members involved at this time
....it is quite possible they all thought the false positive Benzo tox study was true and RN had done something bad to MS.
Very interesting news about DS having a twin. Are they identicle or can one tell the difference? Do they ever trade off and act like the other twin?
---- The late night call from twin is suspect. I sure hope LE looked into her alibi. Why would you call RN that late and ask to come over and "discuss things"? Where did she stay? Does she get along well with AS? Doutbtful RN really picked up twin at airport - hard to believe since DS and RN did not get along. If she did, then they would have had the discussion during the ride. So, why chat again...
Whose female clothes were at guesthouse? What was in the drinking glass at the bedside. Why did AS not unpack or pack up so quick if suitcase belonged to him.
So, a flurry of calls.
I hope you are not suggesting he made her share her cell phone.
Maybe JS would like to see those phone journals to see if it says anything about their relationship and his children.
Link already posted by someone earlier in the thread. However, the following is worth posting.
According to the sheriffs presentation they state her motive was because she called her own voice mail at 12:50 a.m. and listened to a message left by Jonah Shacknai telling her that Maxs condition had turned grave and his death was imminent. Please keep in mind that the contents of that voicemail have now been confirmed by KFMB to have been from statements made by Jonah Shacknai to law enforcement. Of course, the voicemail was deleted and no one but Jonah Shacknai can confirm the contents. AND, in that same report, it is revealed that the incoming phone call from Jonah in which he allegedly left the voicemail, doesnt even show up on Rebecca Zahaus cell phone records. In KFMBs report they state family members confirm that the call came in around 12:30 a.m., but they do not clarify what family members they are talking about. The Zahau family cant confirm it, because they dont have any evidence of the incoming phone call, so one is left to assume the family members are those of the Shacknai family.
Now, AT&T, Rebeccas provider, states this is not uncommon. That when a phone call comes in and you dont answer it, it sometimes doesnt get recorded in the log. Okay, BUT, the outgoing phone call from Jonah Shacknais cell phone should be in his call records, correct? No statement has been provided as to whether it was confirmed via his call records. So Jonah claims (so far without evidence to support it) that he called Rebecca sometime around 12:30 a.m. and told her that Maxs condition just turned grave and his death was imminent.

In addition, what we all know...
Unfortunately and sadly, Max died at the bottom of the stairs.
The KFMB article was updated shorty after initial posting from "family members" to read:
"Zahau's sister, Mary Zahau-Loehner, said detectives told her that Jonah Shacknai left the voicemail on Rebecca's phone around 12:30 a.m. on the morning of her death.
Detectives said the message was erased and officials will not confirm who left the voicemail."
I believe detectives would have confirmed the time JS made that call to RZ's voicemail by looking at his cell phone outgoing billing logs. Only JS can release those logs at this point, and obviously he will not. The content of that message is solely based on the word of JS.
The audio of that voicemail should be retrievable from AT&T servers. Voicemail audio does reside on the phone itself. AT&T certainly has routine and constant backup technology installed on its servers. However, it is unclear if LE ever attempted to retrieve the audio of the voicemail and the more time that goes by, the more likely the backup audio will be written over.

MyBelle, can you please explain to me why this should even be an issue? You would think that JS would be happy to let her family have any and all of her belongings. The bill is in Rebecca's name. What if the phone its self was a Christmas or birthday present? It is her phone. LE says so and JS has not denied it.
I'm sure they've looked at JS's phone and contacted his service provider. The message isn't lost, even if it's deleted. There are all kinds of ways to get deleted messages these days, even if the cops claim they don't have it.
