Yes, the Niles family. Maybe others, no one seems to be sure.
The Niles family resided there for quite some time......they were not guests.

Is it known if this family was at home when Max had his accident?

Sorry, I new that. Were they renting or providing houskeeping/caretakers service? I had heard they were there for at least two years, is that correct?
Do you know the age of the children?
And, do you have any guesses or info on why they would move out because of Max's accident, or were asked to move out?
Inparadise, do you know where the Niles are today? Where are they residing and who are they working for? TIA

I just want to bring up..... the last time I looked at the phone records... I noticed JS suddenly quit texting or talking to RZ.... I believe the last one was 8 ish the evening before she was found dead.... and then NOTHING...no contact why? previously he had texted etc. untill 3am....
there was supposed to be a message left after midnight but it doesn't show up on RZ's records... odd.. very odd... in fact..
why didn't JS try to contact RZ by phone when he got the text from AS... that is the first thing I would do call my beloved
to find out if they are okay.. I would not take a text from my sibling as proof....
His lack of emotion makes me suspicious too. Although Dina stated in the 'Boy Interrupted' article that '...she got the news at the hospital. Jonah was sobbing. He said Rebecca killed herself, ...i don't believe that.
Why would Jonah assume she killed herself and sob but not even go to the mansion to see what happened and talk with his support person Adam?

And maybe the police told Jonah to stay where he was, at the hospital? After all, the mansion was a crime scene.

Do you know that is what happened or is that your theory?
The police do not have the authority or legal right to tell Jonah to stay in the hospital or anywhere. The Spreckels mansion was his home. He had every right to be there particularly if the police was taking away Jonah's properties during their investigation. Jonah's rights as a property owner is protected under the 4th amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Sorry, I must disagree here - I really don't think the 4th amendment applies. The mansion was a crime scene. Jonah would not have been allowed in the court yard, and IMO, the police would have sent an officer to the hospital to take statements from Jonah. If he had gone to the mansion, he would not have been allowed behind the crime scene tape. On that morning, the responding officers did not know what they had yet, a murder or a suicide. Jonah would have been considered the main "suspect" at that time. He would NOT have been allowed near Rebecca's body. And IMO, there was no reason for him to leave the hospital - Rebecca was dead, but Max was not.
