Who knows what the truth is - he could say anything as to why he filed at that point.

Nicole did seem shocked, but maybe it had more to do with the fact that he accused her of sleeping with someone else and getting pregnant.
I just read the info in a link that one of the posters posted. Nicole was informed of the divorce/split through Tom's representatives, same way that his former wife was informed. So, I guess that would shock just about anyone.

I don't blame Katie's father. I don't know the details of the pregnancy or if it is even Tom's. However, why didn't they just get married first?

I wonder if the family heard of Katie's pregnancy from her or through the news? I also wonder if Katie is keeping in touch with her family or if she will be discouraged from contacting them.

This just gets worse and worse. If I were Katie's parents I would snatch her away and have a deprogrammer work on her, I swear! It makes me sick that Cruise thinks he is so all-powerful to dictate to anyone he pleases, including the members of her family's church. What an ego he must have! All sanctioned by the Scientology. Also what does this say about her, anyway? I really feel for her family.

Today a dj on a Minneapolis radio station was raving about how disgusting the make out session at the soccer game was! Those pictures must really be making the rounds.

I would make that jerk's life a living hell- it would be one BLISTERING divorce!
NO WAY would I roll over if my spouse handled things in that manner!

Okay, this morning I heard that Katie's family (and her father specifically) is furious at Katie being pregnant. They're very strict Catholics and believe that she's disgraced her entire family. The rumor is that her father told Tom off in a big way.

I also heard that Tom's sister sent a letter to every member of Katie's family church and told them to never discuss Katie or Tom with the press. She may be a female, but sounds like she's got some pretty big balls.

That is sad that she would do this to her parents. I remember a few years ago ...(Loved watching Dawsons Ceek then) that she was really close to her family and friends. And then to do this seems really crazy. Just throw your family away for fame and fortune, that is crazy.

As for Tom's sister to tell people at the church not to discuss them, man I wish I could have been there I would have told her when the go all over tv making out all over the place I will continue to talk about what I want.

I really feel sorry for Katie's family right now, I mean I am in no way close to or wanting to be catholic but I know that if they are strict in there beliefs then this must be killing them. And then to have her fall into the hands of a cult. I know what that is like and it sucks to see people change like that.

I hope for there sake she gets some sense back

I'm sure the "representative" was one of his Scientology people. Gives more credibility to the contract theory. OMG he makes me sick. Never again will I watch one of his movies.

I really enjoyed Cruise in Risky Business and Bartender. My favorite Cruise movie however is the one he co-starred with my Paul Newman. And I can't recall the name of that movie, cause I'm over 60 now. He wasn't bad in the vampire movie either.
But if you really want to see Tom as what I think portrays him best is the movie Magnolia. He plays the leader of a movement which teaches men to be the Man of the family. He cries his heart out at his father's death bed and instead of drama, it's kind of phony.
His character is outed as a fake when he agrees to a face-to-face interview with a tv reporter. It's a scream.
Rent the movie for tonight. It's an interesting movie which covers the lives of several people over a 24 hour period. You'll love the frog scene.
If you do accept this assignment, let the rest of us know what you think about the movie. Okay?

I feel the same way. Hopefully, for all concerned, this will turn out to be "the real thing" and they live happily ever after. I think they should just go somewhere and quietly get married - NOW. That way, at least her family will know she was married before their grandchild is born.

Can someone point me where it says they don't talk around the baby for a week? In the Travolta-Preston interview, they just said until the baby is born. Then after about a minute, they go back to talking etc. The quiet is supposed to make the pain of the babies not be remembered with any memories of sounds and words...

Wwwhhhhaaaatttteeevvvveeerrrrr....

Tom and Katie are likely to follow the church's "silent birth" guidelines during delivery, which means no music and no talking during the birth, which also means no screaming during the pains of labor.

The doctrine also states that newborns cannot be poked or prodded for medical tests or even spoken to for the first seven days of their lives, believing that babies go through so much pain during the birth, they shouldn't have to experience any further discomfort or sensory experience that could return later in life to haunt them.

And don't get me started on celebrities who want their children to have normal lives, so they plead throughout the nine months of pregnancy, but then name said children with such delightful monikers such as Apple, Coco and Jett.
Jett should be glad his daddy likes to fly planes and not just ride a bike. Or ski obsessively.
Or snorkel!!

...spelunking? :waitasec:

...tiddleywinks?......

That would be great Jeana and I feel as you do, I hope this is "happily ever after" for them but I just don't think it will be the case with TomKat. This whole relationship reeks of fraud. I've never seen a person/couple go to such great lengths to show-off a new relationship, to convince (or try) people that this is true love. My b.s. meter is going beserk over this one.

And I used to really like Tom, I don't care if he's gay or not, it's not like I'd ever have a shot at him anyway. But his whole attitude and personality has changed and not for the better IMO.

You're right Shopper. I feel the same way. I don't like Oprah, so I never watch it, but happened to be home in the afternoon that day that Tom was on there doing his "middle age crisis dance" on her couch and I wanted to vomit. Since that time, I just don't watch or read anything to do with them. He's not a good enough actor to ever be able to make me think about anything but him being an ahole, so I don't think I'll ever be able to watch his movies again!!!!!

Anyway, the thing about this whole baby that makes me sick is when people add children to a relationship that's not solid. Children don't fix broken relationships nor should they be used as a smoke screen. The kids are the ones that pay the price for that fraud.

I agree completely. How incredibly foolish and selfish of Tom to bring a child into this world for his d@mn reputation and PR. It's one thing if this was a real relationship but again, it reeks of fraud IMO.
