Hummmmmmmmmmm Rebel Heart. I think the name of the boat puts it all into perspective. These two were going to do whatever they wanted to do and "damn you" if you didn't like it.

They did not have the experience to sail in the open ocean the way they were attempted to do. I'm beginning to think that this trip was indeed a "pipe dream" with absolutely no regard for the safety and well being of the children. It is no wonder that the baby was sick, I'm very surprised that the entire family did not die at sea with the totally unsanitary conditions on board. Add that to the inexperience of the couple and their inability to comprehend the dangers of sailing untrained and unprepared and you have the makings of a tragedy. They do not have the sense to take care of children.:banghead:

That is really remote, like where Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 may have crashed into. The closest island, where they are is Clipperton Island, which is a uninhabited island and French territory.

Now, if it was Point Nemo in the South Pacific, there is no land for many miles. The closest is Ducie Island, which is nearly 1,700 miles away. Oh, also the seas are quite rough as it lies in the Roaring Forties. It could get very stormy from those extratropical storms that circle Antartica and Southern Hemisphere. Those storms make the southern part of South America very stormy. Rescue could take days to arrive.

The comments from Charlottes latest blog entry are interesting, to say the least.
One commenter found the side effects/reactions for Bonine sound similar to what we've heard about Lyras symptoms. Oh, it's only for ages 12 and up also.

My X has a commercial shrimp boat business. He rescued a family that were missionary's. Same situation, it was a family with small children on a sail boat headed to the Bahamas. He was so upset that afternoon when he got home, with the children on that boat. There was a mayday call that went out and he heard it, was near area and went to help. He got there before the authorities did. He got all the family on his boat then when the marine people got there he transferred to their boat. The sail boat sank before the marine authorities got there.

So sad crazy adults put children's lives in such jeopardy.

Collect donations, surely they jest. This husband with his wife and two really small children on this boat didn't have any money to fall back on. Thoughtless! Words from my dh. Joo
