Retrial for Sentencing of Jodi Arias #2

Is that the motivation? I couldn't figure that one out. It won't reverse her conviction. She's a convicted murderer no matter what. This trial only determines her future, she'lll never be a free woman.

Sorry... I should be clear about the fact that most of what I say is sarcastic and ill-informed. I have no legal knowledge whatsoever, nor any insight into the defense team's tactics. I don't doubt that members of Team Jodi have received threats, but I do doubt that these were deemed credible by law enforcement. I also don't doubt that Jodi's witnesses have claimed more threats than they have been able to document. We already know that Jodi thinks bogus pedophilia letters should count as evidence, so why not bogus death threats?

My guess (just a guess), based on what we've seen so far: this is all just an attempt to make every conceivable argument about absolutely everything, regardless of whether or not it will make a difference in the outcome of the trial. Jodi may consider LWOP a moral victory because she knows the Alexanders and Martinez want the DP, but I don't think she really cares. Whatever she gets, she'll say that that's what she wanted all along. She is going to prison and never getting out alive. The more of a stink she can make beforehand, the better.

I follow @WildAboutTrials @TrialDiariesJ and @scottsands - the #jodiarias is a lot to sift through but there are conversations with attorneys that you can sometimes miss (i.e. @jeffgdesq) but they sometimes go off on tangents :)

Link please.... TIA! :seeya:

I don't believe we are allowed to link to a FB page. It is on the St vs JA. How accurate the confirmation is, I do not know.

I think the State v. JA would be okay. Just take what is written there with a grain of salt. May be a rumor, may not.

Social Networks

Regarding Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and other social networking or blog websites: Links may be used to direct posters to view something on a social networking page. But postings on social networking sites are not considered fact; they are rumor. Copying and pasting, or taking screen caps, directly from these pages is not allowed. Paraphrasing is okay. (Exception: If the Twitter or Facebook post belongs to a verified news station, it may be copied. But a link should still be provided.)

Also, social networking pages may only be linked if they are directly related to a case, i.e. the victim or suspect. We don't want to post to someone's mother, brother, employer, milkman, or postal carrier just because they know the main player. We also NEVER link to minor's pages (unless they are the victim). And be sure that the page actually belongs to the person being discussed. Do not link to someone if you are not 100% sure it is the correct person. And if a social networking is set to private and you get in the back way, you may not post what you find. Private means private!

What is confirmed, what's happening????

ETA: ah, it's been confirmed that Vernon Parker is a Mormon bishop. Interesting. Sounds like Juan is trying to refute Jodi's claim that she had no idea what Mormons believe about sex and relied only on Travis, who misled her.

I think it's about the new State witness, Vernon Parker. There was speculation about who he is, and they are saying it's confirmed that he's a Mormon Bishop out of Riverside CA.

Hopefully he'll also refute what Jodi said about confessing her sexual sins (tip of the iceberg at best) and going through a "repentance process." That's one of the claims she made during the Flores interrogation, along with referring to rather specific and personal tidbits about Travis which were, according to her, revealed to her by "the Bishop." She said, f. ex., that the Bishop told her Travis was heart-broken by Mimi's rejection. In the same interrogation, she said Travis told her Mimi "may be the one," and that she, Jodi, "was happy for him." Flores asked if they'd had this conversation face to face, because I guess he wondered how Travis could have survived giving this news to Jodi if they were actually in the same room together at the time. She said yes, they were sitting on his bed, looking at Mimi's Facebook page. If any of this were even true, a simple "yes" would have sufficed, but far be it from Jodi to ever pass up an opportunity to tell people that she was no stranger to Travis' bed. She also said she left Mesa in part because she worried that her presence might put Travis' relationship at risk. His relationship with Mimi? That the Bishop told her wasn't happening?

And yes, I'm embarrassed that I can remember so much of what was said in the interrogation. There are just so many "oh my God, did she actually just say that?" moments, I'll admit that I've gone back and listened to it a few times.

And that is why this penalty phase won't be over until 2015! :gaah:

Someone's been reading my predictions.

Escape is a real possibility, as is a successful appeal, pardon, or commutation.

First "arm" for Jodi was another and altogether different body part.

Can't be bothered to register for a Twitter account, so I'll post my response to the ridiculous Plato quotation here. The quotation itself is not ridiculous, just the context. Also, cherry-picking quotations is the recourse of the lazy, the poorly-educated, and the manipulative (feel free to quote me on that). So, bearing that in mind:

To the brilliant person doing Jodi's tweeting and online research, here are some additional quotations from http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/p/plato.html

"Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws."

"People are like dirt. They can either nourish you and help you grow as a person or they can stunt your growth and make you wilt and die."

"He who commits injustice is ever made more wretched than he who suffers it."

"Cunning... is but the low mimic of wisdom."

And finally: "The good is the beautiful."

Arias has faith alright -- faith in her ability to charm another old man and hang a jury.

They unanimously agreed that she did it especially cruelly.

Yet one look at her high-mileage 'junk' and the jury hangs.

Okay, okay -- several leers and a stare or four.

I hope JSKS disallows Viagra in the jury room this time.

She is going to prison and never getting out alive.

Wishful thinking, as convicted murderers kill in prison, escape, have their sentences commuted, etc.

She will kill again.

I can't give you the date and time, but she will kill again. She may even hire it done.

I don't think it's wishful thinking. What you're talking about is rare and extreme. Most convicts sentenced to live or below for heinous crimes never get out. It's not even wishful thinking. It's the most likely reality of the situation.

BBM: :hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious: Hilarious !

:seeya: TY, TD ... I had a good laugh !

Now, on a serious note ... IF those "Pinellas jurors" would have gotten it RIGHT the first time, CMJA would be sitting on DR ...

I sure hope they get it RIGHT this time !

Here's a list of only some of the convicted murderers who killed again while incarcerated or after escaping:

Murderers Who Kill Again

JSKS can also sentence the especially cruel lying torture murderess to life with the possibility of parole.

BBM: She won't.

Not saying she won't kill again, though it's doubtful. But I'm just saying it's not wishful thinking to say Jodi Arias, who will receive at the very least a life sentence, will die in prison. Maybe she won't. But it's not like it's something that isn't real. She really was convicted and will be sentenced. I am very, very confident JSS won't give her LWP. I'd bet my life savings on it.
