That's not good is it?

It is good. Defense fails to call their own mitigating witnesses based on media/death threats, Juan calls them instead, then DT can't cry foul which would leave the door open for mistrial/appeal issues if they do not testify.

IMO, it's not a tactic JM had not thought of or USED before Wendy Murphy tried to take credit for it.

I agree. My main reason for pointing it out was because I thought the information that defense attorneys are known to do this and that Juan can call mitigation witnesses himself was interesting.

JM can ask JSS to direct her to answer his questions. He hasn't. He must have a reason not to.

He shouldn't have to ask for it. JSS should get this witness in line without any prompting.

I wonder who this witness is, and who filed the notice?

If he is in AZ right now then he can be subpoenad.

Seems to me he's had it out for ta for 14 years and is probably in the Us right now(speculation) but he'd love to get up on the stand and lie lie liar, if I ever need somebody to dance on my grave I now know exactly who to call

And it would be telling if they tried to quash these subpoenas. It would show where their motives actually are, and it's not presenting the best case they can for Jodi if they try and stop this from happening. In fact, if it was a genuine concern of theirs, they'd have subpoenad these people themselves a long time ago.

Any chance Jodi is going to be on the stand next week ? I'm sure she was the "secret witness" that didn't want to testify in open court. Why would that be?.....

Because...... she fully intended to throw both her parents under the bus with allegations of child abuse and sexual abuse, and she only wanted to do it if they weren't allowed to be sitting in the courtroom watching and listening to every word. If the testimony was secret, then her parents would never have any idea what she said about them.....only the jury would know.

Now we get to see if she is going to just go ahead and do it anyway.....parents be damned. Seems like a dangerous tactic since they are pretty much the only support group she really has, at least family-wise. The old Casey Anthony abuse excuse.

They think JA is lying... she kept trying to be with him after the alleged pedo pic incident. I think it's a great question.

I sure hope that's what they're thinking.

P.S. - Ooo ooo, OT, love your avatar!!!!! SA is my hometown!

Agree. There are some things she probably can't jump in and stop, but when a witness turns to the jury and makes subjective comments and tells them who to believe she should be stopping that immediately and directing her to simply answer the questions posed to her. There's nothing stopping her from doing that. She's the judge.

Geevee, that is very interesting. I'm not sure how you go about adding witnesses in the 11th hour since they need to be deposed, unless of course jm is going to depose them this week and that could be why the delay and why the family was so angry.

JMO Juan can control the narrative if those witnesses are his witnesses. Nurmi can only cross-examine the responses that Juan elicits. Ha Ha.

Being subpoenaed doesn't mean they will be called to testify. IMO, it's a power play by JM who's been holding back while Nurmi played all his hissy fit cards. I also believe it's been JM in charge the whole time.

Good thinking. Considering none live locally, they all have to pay travel expenses on top of lost wages. I find it galling that this trial is allowed to creep along at a snail's pace - not only for the family, but for the jurors as well. The time and expense both to the family and the jurors is treated far too cavalierly.

By the judge. From now on, I come down hard on the judge. She has no excuses left.

  • #1,535
Maybe they're angry because their brothers' murderer sat in chambers and said she just wasn't prepared to get back in the stand tomorrow and JSS said, its OK, babe, you don't have to. When would be good for you?

And with them living in California, they came to Arizona for one day? I'd be upset too. There's time away from work, not to even mention the cost for traveling as well as lodging. Very Sad.
JA has been in charge of this trial for 3 years.

Fonseca just randomly decides to instruct the jury on what they should believe before she's cut off by Martinez and the judge. #JodiArias

I'm pages back, but just have to say...this judge has lost control of her courtroom and complaints should be filed.

Jodi doesn't have a choice. If she testified on direct, she can be crossed on anything she said under oath.

At least, that's the way I understand it.

What was telling to me, and what I hoped did her in, was her pretending not to understand what Juan was questioning her about when Nurmi had just questioned her about it literally 15 minutes earlier. Like the Deanna Reid interview. She throws out all confident that Deanna was inconsistent and says that Deanna said one thing and then another. But when Juan asks her about the exact same thing, she's all, what, who, when, I don't know which interview you're talking about, you're twisting my words...etc. It also was obvious she hadn't actually seen that interview but was just told what to say about it because when asked for specifics, she had nothing but deflection. And btw, bringing up that thing, that Deanna "lie,"came from Jodi to the doctor. I'm sure of that.

  • #1,539
Again. If JM thought she was out of control too far out of bounds he would appeal to JSS. He hasn't. Every half way reasonable juror sitting there is gonna be repelled by her rudeness.

I wonder if Juan is letting her show the jury what an extremely biased nut ball she is?

I just got it. The tie in. Jodi super secret testified to hidden abuse as a child, physical and/or sexual. Then the good um Dr lady gave us an earful of how Travis was keeping their sextopia secret/hidden/shameful. Then Jodi sees him (BS) with boychild 🤬🤬🤬🤬(BS) and it somehow made her go to her hidden childhood bad spot so she had to kill him? this might make sense if there wasn't a time gap, and if it weren't all a buncha lies.. but as a defense theory, yes I can see this being the straw they grasp at.

only one problem. This portion is supposed to be about why her life is worth saving. she's already guilty.
