I understand what you are saying however I think it is part of the "big fish" and is important if they are doing something against the rules because it would help her get the DP.
It would prove they really are not worried about the media at all and the defendent herself is tweeting to the public. Afterall, the defendent was the one trying to keep her testimony private.
A lot of their whole defense arguments and motions has been centered on trying to keep things private and away from media. If this is illegal for them to be doing, then it shows the Jury that they are total liars and this sort of thing would help her get the DP.
If it is against the rules of course. Which I have no idea about.

It's not illegal for the defendant to tweet or for the defendant to ask someone to tweet for her. It is, however, hypocritical, as you point out.
It's important for prisoners to have free speech. Imagine if you (unlike Jodi) were wrongfully accused of murder--wouldn't you want to be able to proclaim to the world that you were innocent?
