Spectators are now let in and are taking up the back two rows on the right side of the courtroom. #JodiArias

I just have to say something while we are waiting. One oddity that still rings in my mind is why Dr. DeMarte didn't diagnose Jodi Arias as a sociopath. I mean she clearly does have Borderline traits but these Axis 2 personality disorders often overlap and clearly she has slipped far in to the sociopathic realm (to me). Borderlines often have emotions all over the place and are high drama people--Jodi is scarier because she's so flat and unaffected. People ask her to leave a party or something and she casually sits in the kitchen calmly. She's clearly busted with photos of herself at the crime scene that she created and she sits there unflinching sliding right in to the next story seamlessly. This is all sociopathic behavior (and she's truly the worst I've ever seen). Scott Peterson also had that same bland blase attitude even when sentenced. They just don't feel things like normal people.

I guess I'm just really really wanting that term to uttered out loud in that courtroom by someone because, to me, it's the elephant in the room and someone has to call it.

Agreed I've often thought Scott Peterson showed similar character traits. I feel like though that Scott was better at hiding the crazy than Jodi was.

Read a post last night that the whole point of this testimony is aimed at the old lady on the jury who will fall for the JA victim of Travis stuff. RELAX!
I am an old lady! Have kids the same age as JA and Travis...I know what goes on and I do not live under a rock! I am just as angry as the rest of you and believe that Travis was and continues to be the true victim here.
Once JM gets to cross, the old lady will realize the true story ..might have already figured it out

Hear, hear!

Even people of advanced age have the ability to reason. Not all of them, of course. But then, not all young people have it. Unless they are prudes they will figure this out...and being a prude is not about age. I have seen posts online that indicate a closed mind, only to find out the poster is relatively young. I am not too worried about older jurors getting it wrong. At least, not any more worried than I am about any other juror getting it wrong.

It's my understanding, but I could well be wrong, that most clinicians won't/don't dx someone as a psychopath because of definitions and testing methods. Strictly speaking there isn't a recognized mental health dx for psychopathy - other than on the sprectrum of antisocial personality disorder, pursuant to DSM V. So someone could be dx'd as antisocial, with psychopathic tendencies, but still would be considered antisocial as an official dx. IIRC, there's no mention of sociopathy at all in the DSM.

I'm still gobsmacked she wasn't dx'd comorbid BPD/NPD/APD though - she shows a lot of signs of comorbidity.

I think a trait that stands out and clearly a distinction between them is 'empathy' a sociopath is capable of feelings, and my belief is this killer is devoid of feelings.

At the age of 5-6 she hit her brother with a baseball bat. Scary stuff! And consider cruelty to animals. No feelings... except for herself!

Sociopaths do not feel empathy either.

There is dissension in the medical community about whether or not they're just using different terms to describe the same thing. Some even say the term psychopath is obsolete now. Based on what I've read, there's little distinction between a psychopath and a sociopath. It's just semantics and minor variations in how the person behaves, how sociable they are, etc. But I think that's more about the individual. No two sociopaths are alike.

The clinical term you'll hear for it is antisocial personality disorder. That's a sociopath.

Me too. She has a lot of sociopathic tendencies and she exhibited them for all to see. But the cold callous planning, begun when she stole grandpa's gun---that crossed over into psychopath. And of course on that bloody fateful night, FULL ON RAGING PSYCHO.

She is likely the full on buffet of the Axis 2 Disorders. What's terrifying is her rage is SO hidden and she displays as SO bland and "nice" (sorry I nauseated myself writing that). She shows so little emotion in any direction but clearly has this intense RAGE that slashes tires and people. It's terrifying. Combined with the sophisticated calculating. She's truly the most terrifying killer, beyond a really psycho serial killer like Bundy, that I've ever encountered, even in a book. She's far more terrifying to me, than the men who killed my sister.

No, Dr. F did not.

Was that stated at some point yesterday? Perhaps she said she did nothing other than review materials, but I thought it was left a little open-ended.

Exactly, and has not shown not one iota of remorse or that she is sincerely sorry for what she did, au contraire, she feels justified and more defiant as time goes on, creepy.

Nurmi is up at the lectern.

#JodiArias is seated and talking to Willmott and Maria.

Jodi is in a dark gray top, hair down, no glasses yet.
