:scared:

oh boy

Air Canada -

"Jazz airlines, Air Canada's regional affiliate, recently removed life vests from all of its planes – including those that fly over water – to reduce fuel consumption and save money."

"Safety cards in seat pockets will now direct passengers to use the seat cushions, which float.''

''Jazz planes criss-cross Canada and the U.S., flying over the Great Lakes and up the Eastern seaboard from Halifax to Boston and New York."

as long as they are fifty miles to a shore it's good OMG!

http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2008/08/23/air_canadas_jazz_tosses_life_jackets.html

no life vests!!!!!!

Leave it to Air Canada to put the passengers' safety at risk!
I refuse to fly Air Canada, actually.

The first lady was buried very quickly, so I hope they are taking dna and doing the usual tests, such as verifying they didn't drown (water in lungs) and ascertaining cause of death.

I can understand the quick funeral. Muslims require their deceased to be buried as soon as possible, usually within 24 hours, and definitely within three days. I imagine the majority of the 149 Indonesians on board were Muslim. It will be very difficult for their families, wanting to be able to bury their deceased loved ones, and not even knowing where they are .. let alone be able to bury them.

A specialist black box search team from France is joining the international effort to find the AirAsia flight which crashed en route from Indonesia to Singapore.

France's BEA crash investigation agency assists in the investigation of any air crash involving an Airbus aircraft because the company is France-based.

"During the morning of January 2nd, local time, a ship will be taking the investigators to the search area, with detection equipment including hydrophones, in order to try to locate the acoustic beacons from the two flight recorders," BEA said in a statement.

AirAsia QZ8501: Flight attendant is first victim buried

View attachment 66567

The first victim of AirAsia Flight QZ8501, found in the Java sea after a crash on Sunday, has been laid to rest.

Officials earlier identified the remains as belonging to a female flight attendant called Hayati Lutfiah Hamid.

Ms Hamid, 49, was buried at a ceremony attended by family and friends in the Indonesian city of Surabaya.

:rose:

They now say that Hayati was an elementary school teacher, and that they had incorrectly identified her as a flight attendant initially.
There will be a lot of young ones missing her. :rose:

"Hayati Lutfiah Hamid, 47, an elementary school teacher from Surabaya, was travelling to Singapore for a holiday with her daughter, husband and mother-in-law when the plane crashed"
http://www.smh.com.au/world/airasia...fied-as-surabaya-teacher-20150101-12go31.html

Previous media reports had incorrectly identified Ms Hamid as a flight attendant.

It is now 8:25am on Friday in the area. General weather in Borneo looks okay, according to a weather site. Unable to find anything saying if they will be diving this morning - once they get to the crash zone, of course, a 4 hour journey.

http://www.myweather2.com/Holiday-Destinations/Indonesia/Borneo.aspx

Thanks for the link. It appears they may have a break with the weather ahead. Moderate winds and just some rain here and there. Rescuers and Loved one's need to catch a break. The wait must be agonizing.

Time for a expansive and earth shattering "poll"! What do you call it : dinner, supper or something else. The use of supper made me ask! I say dinner -you?

that smoking section on the wing is looking pretty appealing -- just pack a parachute --

Damn, all these years I have been wallpapering myself with nicotine patches and all I had to do was step outside for a smoke shoot!
