Well, the other pings were about 20 metres away - so the 50%ers should get to that today as well. Guessing they only had one team down there. It is not quite 10am in the area .. plenty of daylight left .. and still lots of time before the regular afternoon bad weather.

"The two are close to each other, just about 20 metres [apart],'" Mr Soesilo said. "Hopefully, they are the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder."

Thank you. That was where I went first to verify it. It wasn't updated. I did see Mathew Keys reported asap like Rueters.

As big a cloud that can be cast upon this tragedy, why can't the damn recorders be found together?

Just once let something be easy in finding the victims.

They better gosh darn work too!

Yes, thank goodness it is the navy ... under instruction by General Moeldoko, no doubt. Bambang is coordinator of SAR, although back to being spokesperson for all, I think.

A team of Indonesian navy divers on Monday retrieved the first black box from the plane, which crashed on December 28 killing all 162 people on board.

“This morning I had an official report from the national transportation safety committee. At 7:11 we had succeeded in lifting the part of the black box known as the flight data recorder,” Fransiskus Bambang Soelistyo, head of the search and rescue agency, was quoted by Reuters.

JAN 12

11.11AM: The authorities have cordoned off the black box search area from passing ships, and have applied radio silence so that they can hear the signal, reports Devianti Faridz.

11.07AM: The flight data recorder will now be transported to investigators in Jakarta, says Dow Jones.

Huh? the bbm

 That darn Dow Jones just affects everything, doesn't it???! Even pokes it's head up here.

This didn't translate very well but there's some info that I haven't read about yet. The wing. Haven't read back yet though. Salute to the bolded names of the leaders and salute to the crew! Now let's find the people who are missing.

Just been hounding the Engineers next door. They advised that the 2 units CVR/FDR are housed within the same enclosure they sit on a rack and have 2 knobs on them to detach the unit (hope this is making sense). It's not unusual for them to be come separated. The FDR will advise A/C speed, altitude, bank angle, pressurization to name a few. The CVR will provide the last 0030 minutes of conversation between the CAPT and FO. The Engineers advise that the CVR will still record if you are flying on 1 engine. If an A/C has lost both engines it will not record.
