8 people face charges stemming from death of Central Falls woman
The Central Falls Police Department said Tuesday that the charges stem from the death of 24-year-old Erica Bader.turnto10.com
It says: "She tried to run away one time, she didn't get far. They dragged her in, pulled her in that house and held her hostage, basically," said Smith."OMG!
What is wrong with these judges that give low bail amounts for horrendous crimes?
The 3 who were charged with kidnapping, conspiracy etc got just that.
"A judge granted them $30,000 surety bail".
They can walk out for only $300-600.
None of this makes sense to me.It says: "She tried to run away one time, she didn't get far. They dragged her in, pulled her in that house and held her hostage, basically," said Smith."
I wonder how the step Mom knew this? Could it be she was the one Erica texted for help?![]()

I wonder if the home was more like a boarding house; or recovery home?I wonder how she came to be living with these weirdos? She must have met one or two of them first and was invited to stay?
I see a bunch of dour, unattractive women in those pictures. I am guessing one of the males met Erica somewhere, invited her over, and said she could stay. I don't think the female roomies were going to be big fans of hers.
I wonder if the home was more like a boarding house; or recovery home?
Was there a reason she needed to stay there, like maybe a probation type situation?
So many questions.![]()
If it was any type of supervised housing there wouldn't have been 50 abused/neglected animals as their roommates.I wonder if the home was more like a boarding house; or recovery home?

Ya I totally understand that.IDK--from reading this description, it does not seem like it was a group home or rehab centre or any kind of probationary situation.
The cops did a welfare check---if it was some kind of group home situation it would have been more in depth and easier to follow through and investigate.
I think it was just a bunch of low-lifes, crashing together in one house, in a dysfunctional type arrangement.

Bader's stepmother told WJAR that Bader did not know her alleged killers until she started staying with them at a home in Central Falls. "They're just random people," Smith said. "They were like total strangers to her."
The family says Bader had been abused at the home and tried to move out, but was forced to stay by the suspects. "She tried to run away one time, she didn't get far," Smith alleged. "They dragged her in, pulled her in that house and held her hostage, basically."
Police have not shared details about how Bader was killed, but her family says she was attacked and sexually assaulted before being murdered and dumped in the woods.
"They killed her while she was pregnant," the victim's aunt, Stephanie Bender, told WJAR.
A welfare check was conducted at the home in Central Falls where Bader was staying in April, but she was not at the residence. It's unclear when she was killed exactly. A search of the home in early November led to 46 cats and four dogs being removed due to bad living conditions, according to local officials.
Yes, it sounds like something similar except this was ,apparently, an apartment they all started, surrounded by other apartments. Which I don't really understand because of the 50 hoarded cats.Ya I totally understand that.
In Canada we have places where people can rent just rooms as boarders, landlords will rent out an entire house to 3-5 people depending on rooms and they share all common places and in provinces like Ontario they don’t fall under the Residential tenancy act so LOTS of things fly under the radar and shady landlords don’t care,
Police did two welfare checks but then gave up. I think if she was on probation they would have followed through to figure out what was going on. Instead they shrugged it off.we also have “private” group homes for those who have developmental and intellectual disabilities that give people only the basics of what they need and the residents pay upwards of 1400 a month for their rent.
I was curious to know if the residence could have been a placement requirement if she had a prior criminal history. (MOO)
My initial gut reaction---jealousy and bitterness?Total strangers? Hmm. What was their motive if they didn't know her?

Her family kind of shrugged it off too. Makes me wonder if she had burned some bridges with the somehow? If she was addicted she may have pushed them over the edge with her prior actions---lying, stealing, etc. ?
It's just very sad that the stepmother somehow knew that Erica had tried to escape but was dragged back to the house---WHY didn't they try to help after that revelation? Even if I was doing tough love, I'd drop that long enough to try and save my child from kidnap/hostage type situation.![]()
