RI - Mass Shooting at Brown University - Providence 13 Dec 2025

There’s something unusual about the behaviour in that particular clip of the POI and the second person. It could be nothing but even if that clip is all that raised their suspicions, it feels worth pursuing. It’s good that they have other decent images of the second person.

Beginning to think that the main POI may not have been well known at or around Brown. The images have been public for a couple of days and local scrutiny must have been intense. I’d have expected many calls naming one person. It’s also possible that the manner of movement and the appearance we see on video aren’t representative of this person in day-to-day life.

The possibility of this being a person from some way outside the area seems more likely than it did two days ago.
Totally Agee. My initial thinking was this was very targeted, perhaps down to that particular classroom at that particular time.

But if that's the case, there's no reason to be loitering around for 5 plus hours.

So I think we have to be open to this being some sort of outsider.

I'm wondering if any witnesses inside the building/classroom have confirmed whether the individuals in the photos match the shooter's description (clothing, shoes, build, etc.).
That was asked at the presser. Chief of Police confirmed that they did match.

Which reminds me. Another question asked was if a (gun) magazine was recovered. Hopefully the reporter was asking that question because they heard there was, because that would potentially be a solid source of touch DNA. That's something that would have likely been handled without gloves prior to the shootings.

It's clear that they do have DNA to work with, but the question is if the DNA belongs to the offender, and if it does, how high quality it is.

Logically, one would think that DNA from a magazine might be more robust than DNA from a fired shell casing, although they can obtain DNA from the latter with good success.

I haven't watched the latest presser. The witnesses inside the classroom have ID's the man who has appeared in the photos and videos thus far? My understanding is they also said there was a single shooter. Is that still correct? Thanks.

When is the last time a mass murderer just faded away into to background at all.
I don’t ever remember that happening. Usually they are killed or arrested on the spot., no matter whether they are terrorists or mentally ill, or whatever reason they did it.
It’s just all weird.
Eric Rudolph comes to mind. It took years to capture him.
IMO.

"Brown shooting victim was at study session for class he wasn't enrolled in, friend says.

Joe McGonagle, a Brown student who was friends with shooting victim MukhammadAziz Umurzokov,
said he had brunch with Umurzokov Saturday morning.

He said during brunch Umurzokov went to sit at another table with a different friend
who was heading to a review session for an economics class.

Finals were coming up and these study sessions were optional for students.

McGonagle said Umurzokov
'just tagged along with them to go to that econ session,
even though he wasn’t in the class.
He just wanted to, you know,
keep them company.
I mean that’s something he would do'.

Umurzokov was a pre-med student.

'He messaged me from inside the lecture hall,
roughly an hour before the shooting happened',
McGonagle said.

'He messaged me with a picture of the lecture hall and he said,
‘Guys look,
I got dragged into the econ session',
like as a joke'."

What a terrible twist of Fate :(

We know there was a single shooter. What’s an open question is if he had assistance in some way.

Eyewitness accounts of shooter match description of person of interest police are seeking, chief says

From CNN's Cindy Von Quednow

Eyewitness accounts of the gunman involved in shooting at Brown University match the description of the person of interest police are seeking in connection with the incident, Providence Police Chief Oscar L. Perez, Jr. said during a news conference Wednesday.

The chief’s affirmative response came after a reporter asked whether survivors of the shooting, which took place inside a classroom, described the person of interest as the shooter, or whether the physical description of the gunman is similar to the person of interest they are seeking.

“That’s correct, yes, they have,” Perez answered.

Authorities won’t stop searching until they capture shooting suspect, police chief says

From CNN's Emma Tucker

Authorities will not stop searching for the suspect in Saturday’s mass shooting at Brown University until they find them, said Providence Police Chief Oscar L. Perez Jr. at a news conference.

The intensive manhunt has continued for five days, and could extend into six days, but an investigation of this nature is “going to take time,” said Perez.

“A person is going to get caught. We’re going to do our jobs and we’re not going to stop until we do… It could be tomorrow, but we’re not stopping until we find them,” the police chief continued.

you would think, since they have these witness statements, they would give out a written description: height, weight, eye color, complexion, estimated age , etc. We know that witnesses can be way off, but they had approx. 20 people in the classroom who were not killed or injured so if 15 agree on a characteristic.....

I don’t know if it’s that certain – just that the witnesses statements and the appearance on video match. There didn’t seem to be any doubt expressed about that.

I missed the press conference, so I appreciate the update. Was there any confirmation regarding the shooter's ethnicity?

Didn’t hear anything about that. May have missed it.

Robert Card / Lewiston, Maine. If I recall correctly, it took them 2 days to find him.

Card was identified relatively quickly as a suspect IIRC. Like within a matter of hours. Just took time to find him

No. <Modsnip> No ethnic information on the shooter.

I can agree with that possibility. @O.Incandenza raises that possibility as well.

When I looked at the full picture, I cant tell if the individual's hips are feminine or masculine. As with the tight hijab / beanie possibility, the hips seem to be able to swing either way (feminine, but on the slender side for a middle aged woman / Masculine, but fuller with a small flair).

I think LE might have an idea because they have seen the video that the still came from and watching this person walking might clue in more on the feminine/masculine walk.

The jacket reminds me of one of those shorter crop-like things people are wearing now adays. It seems like a shiny fabric like a puffer jacket, and I tried looking online but don't see anything. Same with the shoes. They look like clogs to me, but shiny in some photos and not shiny in others. So frustrating to have so much information, yet so little at the same time. lol

Could it be targeted, but the person was trying to catch the target going in? Or all the loitering was to see if they actually attended the study session. Maybe looking for a car parked in the area?

Absolutely possible.

But if you’re targeting a particular person, there are much easier ways to do it than like this.
