RI - Mass Shooting at Brown University - Providence 13 Dec 2025

I don’t think there was a direct hand-off, at least. The timing is wrong for that. I think there was probably some sort of other interaction they had (one chasing the other, for instance) that leads police to wonder… well, why?
One thought I had, and especially if the second person IS female (which I have no opinion on either way) is that perhaps the second person knew what the shooter was planning or considering doing, and when s/he found him on the street, ran after him to try to stop him/persuade him not to go ahead with his plan? MOO

The FBI released video of him leaving the scene, complete with circles around him and everything.
Leaving the building?

"Student describes barricading doors of library next door to shooting.

Joseph McGonagle,
a friend of victim MukhammadAziz Umurzokov,
shared images of the barricades students put up while sheltering in the library.

McGonagle said
he was studying math
when he saw on an internal university social media app
that there was an active shooter at a building nearby.

He said he saw people running out of the building from the window.

'That’s when we started barricading up the 12th floor of the science library',
he said.

After he and other students finished stacking the furniture,
they got the first email from the school about the shooter on campus.

They weren’t able to leave the library floor for five hours,
he said."

The FBI have stated that there is no clear footage of him in the building.

Leaving the building?
There were no cameras directly at the building. They have him walking away from the building on camera, and then walking out of the area.

One thing to note, it would be fairly unlikely that the shooter was from out of town (and staying at a hotel) since that evening there was a large concert at the Amica Mutual Pavilion ("Goosemas") and all the local hotels (at least in the immediate area) were either fully booked or charging astronomical rates.

Do you happen to have links to those photos or videos? Is one of them the first one that was released -- the "POI seen from above rounds a corner" one? Thanks!

Linked many times earlier in the thread, in different forms. The earliest version of this particular compilation had camera locations in the form of street addresses but that version was pulled. The current version still has timestamps. Some are in PST. The link below is to the FBI’s YouTube channel, mercifully free of comments. You can also find it on the FBI Boston’s X (Twitter) feed, if you have the stomach to read the replies.

The NYT is reporting that authorities have obtained DNA evidence and fingerprints from shell casings at the scene.

I was surprised this isn’t bigger news, but it looks like the NYT inserted it as an update. I guess they are focusing on the speech and other developments.

Thanks. I've viewed the Youtube compilation several times but have previously focused more on the middle parts in which the POI breaks into a run. I notice that one of the clips that apparently was from after the shooting (see screenshot) lacks a timestamp. Does anyone have a time for that one?

(And no, I don't have the stomach for the replies on X. ;) )

Yep - 4:13 shows him walking towards the building and there are a couple of videos after of him leaving the direct area. The video the other poster was referencing would have been in between the distant video showing him walking away from the building and north on Hope, and the video with the huge timestamp at the bottom, walking east on Waterman. The turning corner video shows him turn from Hope onto Waterman. Not sure why it wasn't included in the larger release/compilation.

That particular clip was at 1605.

Thank you. Now that I have a better sense of his movements right after the shooting, I'm wondering whether (as others have suggested) he might've had a vehicle somewhere on George near Cooke. In that case, he might've turned south from Waterman onto Cooke.

I wonder if he didn't show up on video in the area after that because it was getting dark. I would hope that any vehicle that was parked in that residential area would've shown up on some video. Of course, this is very speculative, as he could've been picked up by someone or could have left the area in some other way.

One of the latest bits of info released was the map of before and after movements. They have an after movement on Ives street (no video has been shared for that) So he does turn off Waterman possibly onto Ives which is heading back toward where he was earlier. Here is the link to the map they shared!

GHI was able to geolocate the clearer video of the second person to the sidewalk in front of 194 Angell St. Seems accurate, but I'm not sure how valuable the information really is. It seems pretty far removed from the shooting.

Google maps walking directions shows 194 Angell St to Barus and Holley building is .3 of a mile.

Just for reference 110 Benevolent to Barus and Holley is .2 mile apart.

They have videos of students, but can’t id the gunman leaving , which I find baffling.

“The Barus and Holley building, the site of the shooting, was renovated within the past few years, officials said. The gunman attacked a classroom in the older section, where there are fewer cameras, and none of them captured the attack or the suspect, officials said”.

Thanks. Going south on Ives, the neighborhood looks less fancy and more dense. (Is that a place where students live?) I also notice that that area is not that far from the 195 highway, which gives one access to other highways and might make for a quick getaway if he parked a vehicle somewhere around there.

For a completely innocent explanation as to the "chase"... It's possible POI dropped something in his hurry to get around the corner and out of sight, and person 2 was trying to catch up to give it back or admonish them for littering.
