RI - Mass Shooting at Brown University - Providence 13 Dec 2025

well if the "nissan parked next to RIHS" pans out, then whoever was saying he was parked on cooke street nailed it.
I think that this is the Reddit post, and the poster said that s/he called the tip into the FBI. I believe that another poster left it as a tip to the local police.

It definitely made me think that there was a possibility that these two events were related, especially because of the timing and the short distance from Brown University to the professor's home.

I’m so very curious what happened with the initial suspect. I have more questions and concerns about that than I do anything.

Was he involved and they let him go on a technicality…. Was he not involved at all in that case, excuse me what? How does that happen?
I think there was intial pressure from the top to announce an arrest....and mistakes happened.

so person 2 definitely knew the suspect. and if he's telling the truth, it's confirmed he was not in a loop about the plans, the suspect was avoiding him, and person 2 had a "what are you doing??" reaction when he recognized him.

edit: i should be careful here. i'm not sure whether person 2 is saying he asked the suspect "what are you doing there?" or "what are you doing here?". it makes a big difference IMO.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The man police said was captured on camera “in proximity” to the unidentified Brown University shooting suspect has been found and interviewed by law enforcement, Target 12 has learned.

Police don’t suspect the man was involved in the attack, saying he told them he confronted the suspected gunman outside Brown prior to the shooting, multiple sources with direct knowledge of the investigation told Target 12.

The man told police he approached the unidentified suspect and questioned what he was doing there, at which point the individual ran off, sources said.

Please correct me if I’m wrong:

The witness police were looking for sat down with police, and said he confronted this person and the person ran.

The Reddit user (a confirmed different person than the witness) noticed this persons behavior enough to take note of the car, come back and look at the plates, and then get on the internet and comment

This person looks suspicious whatever that means, he stands out more than acting strange. Something about him is unique or weird enough to be super creepy to MEN!

right, "nissan next to RIHS" came from reddit. but someone(s) in this thread were looking at the patterns in his wandering around, saw that he kept returning to a short stretch on cooke, and inferred that there was something important for him there. i believe someone speculated in particular that it was where he was parked.

Where is this stated? Do you have a link? I haven't read or heard that the witness knew the POI at all.

New Hampshire. Dartmouth !
The car was found in Salem, very close to Massachusetts. There's a lot of shopping areas there and restaurants. Not near Hanover, where Dartmouth is located

Yes, but could have been on the way.

well i guess i'm inferring that they knew each other, but it's reported that he confronted the suspect and "questioned what he was doing there, at which point the individual ran off".

i don't think you see someone, try to pursue them a bit, and ask what they're doing there, unless you know them.

I wonder why he chose Salem to bail out of the car (presuming that's what he did). It's - at least from my recollection - a fairly well populated area with a lot of sprawl. Maybe because it's right over the border? I know there's a NH welcome center there - I wonder if that's where the vehicle was located.

The car was abandoned in NH but I haven't read where exactly.
