people have pointed out that he's unlikely to have crossed paths with an econ professor in terms of study and work. but i'm wondering now if he dated her back then and she dumped him. or he wanted to and she rejected him. and in either case, he never got over it. edit: if her econ classes were in the physics building back then too, he might have met her that way.So more on this thought. Earlier today I found this info about when the Principles of Economics class was held and where. On Monday evenings from 6-650 it's held in Barus and Holley.
The suspect had the encounter with the custodian in the bathroom of Barus and Holley between 3pm and sunset on Monday December 1. He was in that building on a Monday near to the time Professor Friedberg would have had a class.

though if she was a target, it's still a little odd that he didn't know it was just going to be a TA teaching, and when she wasn't there he just started shooting anyone. that feels more like wanting to kill his old peers, rather than aimed at the professor.
hard to say
