GUILTY RI - Zah-Nae Rothgeb, 9, handicap, cerebral palsy, dies of cruelty, filthy home, Warwick, 3 Jan 2019

  • #41
It would be interesting to hear what those with legal experience think will happen. She may plea to cruelty and neglect to avoid a more serious charge. This article is about a similar incident but the house and kids were clean so it was determined to be an accident.

Coroner rules disabled 17-year-old accidentally drowned in bathtub

Also, that one was not in the bathtub long at all, was a bit more physically capable than Zah-Nae, CPR was performed and while the house was very small it was acceptable. I'm still angry about it, but it's totally different than the current case for sure.

I saw this on the local news earlier and yes finally. No idea on a sentence but her arraignment is the end of the month so not long of a wait until then.

How many special needs children? 8? With one single mother?
There is no way this woman was able to work- how did they think she was able to afford to take care of 8 special needs children?

It was a failure in the DCYF system for sure. Sadly, some take in children to obtain money and assistance from the state for income. No need to work. And as it sounds like in this case, the money was not being used to properly care for the children. :( IMO
