Robin Williams found dead inside his home

...I watched Mrs Doubtfire today, and tomorrow I will watch The Birdcage and Dead Poets Society. It is utterly tragic that a man who gave us so much joy and laughter, felt so much pain and anguish within :(

These are my favorite Robin Williams' films :)

This is so shocking. I'm stunned. I keep wishing it was a mistake of some sort, but know it isn't.
I can only hope this tragic loss causes people to view depression as the potentially fatal illness it is, rather than some kind of character deficiency.

I'm so terribly saddened Robin felt this was the only option. He must have been in some pretty severe pain.

Sleep peacefully, Robin. You will be missed terribly.

I heard of Robin Williams death yesterday as soon as it was announced and was stunned. He has been a favorite in our family for years. My 90 year old mother has two favorite actors and that is Robin Williams and Tom Hanks.

Robin Williams has given us many, many hours of laughs and entertainment. We (our family) loved him and will never forget him.

One movie in particular was 'Nine Months' with Hugh Grant. Robin Williams was the crazy Russian Obstetrician in that movie and he was great. I have fast-forwarded to his parts and the ending many times when we needed a real laugh.

I am really bad about keeping WS up on the computer or laptop and either listening to a movie, news, or a TV show. Just this past Saturday night I watched 'RV' again. I laughed so much and I was here all alone but laughed out loud at Robin Williams. The movie was either on HBO or Starz this past Saturday night.

I am still stunned at his death but really stunned at the method of death. I knew Robin Williams had been in Rehab, but had no idea he was also depressed to the extent he was. He was expected to be funny and entertaining all the time and I imagine that was hard to do. He was expected to be 'up' all the time.

GB Robin Williams and his family. This is indeed a tragedy that has touched us all. May his family have some comfort in knowing how very much he was loved and will never be forgotten.

I acknowledge his passing with a very heavy heart.

This is just so sad......but within my tears are laughs....I hope this is an accurrate memory of a "Mork and Mindy" episode--fellows children of the 70's-80's help me out----Does anyone remeber RW holding eggs and throwing them up in the air crying "Fly!!! Be free!!"
Be free Robin......may your mind and soul be at rest now. The scene in "Dead Poets Society" when Keating is trying to bring forth the poet in Todd moves me to tears every time I watch it. Thank you.

I loved him but I deal with the illness and sometimes found him a little hard to watch just because I can see it in him, anyhow Im very sad , it claims too many :(

Yes.. that's how I felt too. I've always appreciated his subtler performances over the manic ones.

I've been in bits over this all day; he somehow represented my own struggles writ large. My heart is broken for him, and for his family.

He has always had that look of sadness in his eyes. I found it hard to look at photo's of him over the last couple of years due to the fact that I could see he was being consumed by it more and more.

I could see the sadness as well, even in some of his movies, where he was obviously acting but the sadness was all too real. It's so heartbreaking that he was in so much pain and suffered so much.
Robin was such a compassionate, loving, giving man, undoubtedly one of life's great gifts. He generously shared with us his inner beauty, gave us laughter and joy, and brought us up from our ordinary, sometimes dreary, sometimes desperate, lives. God lent him to us for a while, and though I am weeping, I am also immensely grateful. Blessings and condolensces to his dear family. We love you Robin, I hope you've finally found the peace you deserve.

So sad. He must have been in terrible pain.

Yes, this does say it all! I feel most sadness for Zelda, after seeing how close he was to this only daughter. She will suffer now all her life from this loss. I'm not at all surprised however, after 3 marriages and affairs, I think he was inwardly very unsettled, and also manic in so many interviews, a serious problem for him. Severe lows and highs seemed rather evident at least the "highs". '

Yes, its Zelda who now must live with this forever in her life and my heart goes out to this young woman. :(

LE is holding a news conference at 11 pst. It will be streamed on tmz.com

Billy Crystal's on Letterman tonight. Bet there will be tons of steps down memory lane, eh?

Oh my goodness, Snoopy, thank you so much for posting this! It was lovely, even if it made me blow a gasket. I loved Robin Williams and especially adored his visits with Dave Letterman.

I hate it that this beautiful person suffered so badly inside. Rest in peace, sweet man, and bless his loved ones.

Robin Williams committed suicide by hanging himself at his California home, sheriff's office says http://kptv.tv/1oIlvTw

Man, this just breaks my heart! :tears:

I feel sorry that so many details of his suicide are being made public. It would be hard for me to be a family member knowing such personal details are being revealed.

After coming off the heels of a very sad suicide case in Oregon, I'm hoping that the media frenzy will bring suicide awareness to the attention of the masses. But I agree with you. It can't be easy on his loved ones at all.

Is it just me or was that a VERY detailed presser? I've never seen LE detail every little bit of a death like that.

I am so sorry....its www.tmz.com and I imagine theyll keep a video posted.
The transcript will be on the marin county sheriffs ofc and ill post a link to it.
Basically the wife saw him at 1030pm when she went to bed. She left at 1030 the next morning without seeing him. The personal assistant went into his bedroom at abt 1145 am after he didn't answer knocks. He was clothed in a seated position suspended above the ground. A belt was around his neck and the other end between the closet door and doorframe. He had lividity and rigor mortis. He also had superficial cuts on one wrist and a pocketknife was next to him

Im so very sad at how desperate/determined he was :(

So it sounds to me like they were not sleeping in the same bedroom that night. Maybe he made the excuse he wanted to watch tv in the other room, etc. and didn't want to disturb her. So, she left thinking he was just sleeping in, in the other room.

So, so sad.

You make a great point. I hope his death is not in vain (vein?) and prompts open discussion of depression and suicide.
