I am confused on the process now. Doesn't the SA make the decision now on whether to file charges, since the LE spokesman says that the reports were forwarded to that office? So if this is correct, and the SA ends up filing charges then that would mean there would be some sort of proof in that case? I mean, if I were the LE officer involved, no matter how icky it would be to do so, I assume they would have asked to at least SEE this rat. I mean...I guess that TC could have gone out and gotten a rat and cut off its head and put it in there and then called and accused someone else....but that wouldn't fit with the neighbors report, then. Just another waiting game, it seems, as with all other parts of this case.

Please keep in mind at this time this 'Rat incident' is an accusation based on a neighbor's report and the assumption by the Croslins. RC was not arrested for this incident, if there had been proof he would have been.

Cummings, who denied the allegations and agreed to speak with a detective about the incident, has not been formally charged. The State Attorney's Office is reviewing the case, Assistant State Attorney Chris Kelley said.

The SA office has to investigate wether he should be arrested or not according to statements provided..
They could not arrest him as it happened the night before and no one found the rat until Saturday and therefore he was not on scene..jmo of course

In my opinion, RC incriminates himself almost every time. HE is the only one responsible for HIS actions. I am sorry but if those were my children, I would do anything and give up everything to make sure they were not subjected to this type of behavior. (it is for similiar reasons that my son's father lost his rights to his son, i wouldn't allow it) RC should be concerned about finding his daughter and focus himself on that. But instead he's starting trouble for himself and on the verge, if convicted, of loosing JR and ending himself up in jail.

I could care less what people think of me, especially if my child was missing.

Bravo. You set a wonderful example for others.

In the above link, the report dated Monday, August 10th, which marks the 6-month disappearance of HaLeigh, states Ronnie Jr had returned from a 6-week visit with his mother. If Ronnie Jr was returned to Ron on Monday, then Ronnie Jr wasn't home and this possibly explains why there is no mention of him in the report regarding the incident that happened late Wednesday, Aug 6.

I am curious as to whether Crystal Sheffield was told about this incident that occurred Wednesday, Aug 6th between the Croslins and Cummings families while Ronnie was still under her care and set to return home to Ron Sr on August 10th? Did Crystal have another choice but to return Ronnie Jr at the appointed time ? Is there a legal action in light of this incident she could have taken in order to extend Ron Jrs visit?

I am very confused by Lisa Croslin's comment in this report where she states: "Cummings MIL, Lisa Croslin, told police she too thought he put the rat in HER mailbox and said she has several young children living with her at her residence and was afraid Ron would come there causing further problems with her son."

If these allegations are true, but Did Ron leave a rat in two mailboxes at Lisa Croslin's and Hank's residence?
here's a video about it:

I think the allegations are ridiculous personally.

I see at least three vehicles in front of AS's home in this video. I believe the sedan is the one she drove when she and Misty bailed Ron out following the assault arrest. The white truck looks like the "Only God Can Judge Me" pickup which is Ron's, I believe. Anyone know who the red pick up belongs to ? TIA

ETA: OT - All these vehicles look so clean - makes me embarassed. My SUV is almost always covered with door hair on the inside and muddy paw prints on the outside.

Here is the latest report:

Haleigh's father is accused of placing rat in in-laws' mailbox

The saga of the search for Haleigh Ann-Marie Cummings, the 5-year-old Putnam County girl who has been missing since February, took another twist Wednesday, when police announced that her father was accused of leaving a decapitated rat in his in-laws' mailbox, days after a fistfight with the same in-laws landed him in jail.

Ronald Cummings' brother-in-law, Hank Croslin Jr., told police Saturday that he found a rat in his mailbox and suspected Cummings of putting it there "as a sign ... he was going to kill him," according to a police report.

Croslin, 23, signed a charge of retaliating on a witness against Cummings and an unnamed juvenile. In March, Cummings, 25, married Misty Croslin, 17, but it was not clear whether she was the listed juvenile.

The last sentence in this news article is what is really bothering me:
The quote is from Lt. Johnny Greenwood,
"we don't want to be distracted by these little issues".

As many of us are thinking, these "issues" don't appear to be "little". We see them as assault, witness intimidation, Federal mailbox tampering and other possible charges. This seems to me to be another example where Ron's actions seem to be minimized...of course, IMHO

Legally she has to abide by the visitation and custody documents unless she filed and was granted an emergency hearing for temporary custody.

Yet you are willing to assume that Tommy is telling the truth? How do we know that he isn't setting Ronald up for this? We don't. We don't know if he set Ronald up the other night with the fight either, imo. We still do not know that Misty called them crying and upset. It all sounds good, but it doesn't make it true, imo. This isn't Tommy or Hank Sr.'s first rodeo. I have a feeling there is a lot to be learned about both of them.

I find it more than curious the neighbor saw a "juvenile" in the truck, too. Aren't Ronald's windows in the truck tinted? This woman's eyes are getting more incredible by the minute. I can only assume she is pointing the finger at Misty, too.

How very lucky for Tommy after she just filed for a RO against him! A little too convenient in the timing here, imo. Maybe Misty and Ronald should be watching their backs very carefully, imo. I think this guy could be extremely dangerous, imo.

I think the lot of them are dangerous. But you leave absent the possibility that the windows were down. It was a hot, muggy night. Maybe there's air/co. Probably is. But she knew Ronald's truck and she identified Ronald as putting something in the mailbox. It is not inconceivable that her view was unobstructed by tinted windows. As you so eloquently put it, if people just allow the possibilities, ......

It is no wonder that Ronald finds it difficult to be responsible for his own actions. The women in his life and those elsewhere IMO relieve him of it at every turn.

As the LE guy said....these "little things" From finding Haleigh?? Who's looking for her? Seems the "distraction" is merely interfering with Ronalds life and LE resents having to bother dear Ronald about it. I wonder if the arresting officer has been fired, yet? WHAT was he thinking??

Silly cop....:slap:

The mailbox is easy to see from most of the homes. There is a large easement between the road and the homes, although it is hard to tell from the video.

Put so succinctly, it's hard to ignore. Thanks :)

Perhaps he suspects the claims are bogus.

I took this sentence to be directed at Ron, as in "Why don't you act like a grown up and quit doing this stuff that pulls our resources away from finding your daughter?"

Seems to me that it would be pretty easy to see this mailbox from any of the surrounding homes. I don't understand the attempts to discredit the eyewitness. I'm sure this may be part of the reason why so many are reluctant to get involved, which makes it even harder for LE to do their jobs. Anytime someone comes forward with a tip or information, that person is immediately attacked, scoffed at, even ridiculed.

Well, he would have had to either open the door or lower the window to put the rat inside the mailbox, wouldn't he??
I'm beginning to wonder if some would have a hard time believing Ronald was to blame for anything, if Jesus himself came back and said it.

Perhaps he suspects the claims are bogus.

These are not JUST claims against Ron. One was an actual arrest for which a $12,000 bond was required, another is a criminal complaint filed against him, which could (should?) be turned over to Federal authorities for investigation.

It would be ironic if in trying to evade the very accusations he made of his wife's family, ie using mailbox vs "trespassing," he gets himself charged w a felony (witness tampering) and/or federal (mail tampering) offense. Each could carry serious penalties too, couldn't they?

:parrot:

Add to the felony he is out on bond for-----:waitasec:

Cummings allegedly entered his in-laws' van to punch the younger Croslin, and he was charged with burglary with assault or battery, a first-degree felony punishable by life in prison.
