I believe here they can also take your house or property, IIRC. Suspending the DL doesn't mean they can't get to work since there is public transportation, but it does mean they need to figure out a way to make the payments and quickly get with the program to have it reinstated if they want the freedom to drive. Going to jail isn't a great way to get the back support either, but it is incentive to start making the payments.

Well, ya know, I live in a fairly urban environment, and there ain't all that much public transportation that takes ya were ya wanna go. Dig it?

You might want to check statistics on that one. Personal experience isn't allowed here, but I know lots. . .and only the kiddies suffer.

Can't drive, can't get to work, no transportation, still have to pay. Who in bloody 'ell though up that one I wonder?

Naturally, being a kind, gentle person, this is only my humble opinion.

I think it's a great incentive. Pay your support, and you don't have to worry about it. Don't pay, and you can use transit, bicycle, walk, taxicab, carpool, ask friends and relatives for help ec to get to work, or go to jail.

Finally Ron and Crystal Cleared...

Haleigh Update: Parents Cleared, Misty's Story Unclear

Lt. Johhny Greenwood, in the press release stated,"At this point, the evidence and investigatory effort has minimized the likelihood that Haleigh’s disappearance is the work of a stranger. There is no specific individual whom investigators have identified as a person of interest."

Ronald and Crystal are not suspects

The Sheriff's Office stated, "The biological parents, Ronald Cummings and Crystal Sheffield, are not considered to be suspects in the case."

So it looks like PCSO doesn't consider him a suspect. Then WHY ON EARTH is he not talking to them?

Will he start now they said so?

Don't really have a problem with that at all...Flossie...do not faint. The only proviso I would add is for the single parent of either gender who had young children in the home and may need a vehicle in an emergency. That could be tacked on...no driving inless an emergency in the case of a child. Could be done...though I am dreaming....

LE's statements are clear as mud imo.

Here we have great public transportation with our city bus service. A person can get to any area of town close enough to walk to work a couple of blocks or so.

The whole idea is to take away their freedom of being able to just get into their car and go anywhere they please. I guess it would also keep them from spending that money on gasoline and car expenses, too. Again, the reason for the law is the incentive to make them pony up the cash so they can have their freedom...not to prevent them from working. They can still work without a DL or a car. People do it all the time who do not owe child support.

LE's statements are clear as mud imo.
Actually, it sounds to me like what I have thought all along...they want to hang it all on Misty and Ronald was never a suspect. To be honest, LE never considered even looking at Crystal to be a suspect for reasons I won't mention here, but mainly because they singled out Misty from the beginning and with those blinders...have never looked at anyone else.

MN and TM are going to work to find Haleigh and the truth...wherever it leads them. I hope they will clear up any misconceptions or wrong paths that LE have now married concerning this case.

I saw how Hardy glazed over the evidence which was found to be not tested by the task force. It read that it had been at least "examined".

ETA: Clearly, I consider "examined" to mean "looked over" which means they used their EYEBALLS, IMO, to view the evidence collected at some point, IMO, but did not send it in for further "analysis" until after the task force found it had not been tested, IMO.

If her story is as full of holes as the press release says it would have been a bit difficult to not focus on Misty. Even if it was Crystal or a stranger her lies would have to be explained and the truth clarified somehow in order to make a case against anyone else.

I am just thankful that LE finally released a statement. Wonder if MN and TM getting involved put a little pressure on LE to release a statement.

SS - I do not know what happened to cause you to accuse LE officers that you probably do not know (am I wrong?) of failing on their due diligence in examining the evidence. Just because they had not finished analysis of the evidence does not mean that they looked at it and tossed it to the side. Do you have a link that states LE just used the "eyeball" test, as you so colorfully put it to examine any evidence? If you have personal knowledge of malfeasance in LE directly handling this case, please call the State's Attorney and report it. HaLeigh deserves that.

JMO that's exactly why they did it, I think they probably are a little uncomfortable right about now.

"Investigators believe that Misty Croslin-Cummings continues to hold important answers in the case. She has failed to provide any sort of detailed accounting of the hours during the late evening and early morning of Haleigh's disappearance. Furthermore, physical evidence at the scene contradicts Misty's sketchy account of her evening activities," the Sheriff's Office reported in a statement.
According to the Sheriff's Office, investigators said information gathered in the case doesn't support the idea a stranger took the girl.

"At this point, the evidence and investigatory effort has minimized the likelihood that Haleigh's disappearance is the work of a stranger," the statement reported.

Here are some of the facts:

We have received in excess of 4,000 leads, all of which have been followed up.
We have conducted 138 formal interviews and several hundred informal interviews with potential witnesses. DNA samples were collected from many of those interviewed and compared to evidence collected in the case.

FDLE processed the crime scene. Many items of potential evidentiary value were collected and sent to FDLE’s crime lab for analysis (ie. for fingerprints and DNA). All of evidence has been examined and/or processed, but none of it has identified any suspect or additional leads as to who the suspect(s) may be.

searched thousands of acres, including all property south of Highway 17 near the Cummings residence.

numerous underwater recovery and search teams search all of the water near the area of the disappearance.

Aviation assets have conducted several airborne searches.

K9 assets have searched the area on several occasions.

Volunteer civilian searchers on foot and horseback searched the wooded areas near the residence.

There is no specific individual whom investigators have identified as a person of interest. The biological parents, Ronald Cummings and Crystal Sheffield, are not considered (Does not mean they are not, LE can say anything at this point, but I will lead to believe they are not POI at this time) to be suspects in the case.

Investigators believe that Misty Croslin-Cummings continues to hold important answers in the case. She has failed to provide any sort of detailed accounting of the hours during the late evening and early morning of Haleigh’s disappearance. Furthermore, physical evidence at the scene contradicts Misty’s sketchy account of her evening activities. Any citizen with direct knowledge of Misty’s activities during that evening or into the early morning is encouraged to report that information to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

He also urges anyone that is assisting, or who wants to assist, to be cautious to stay within the bounds of their authority as they pursue their activities.

Tim Miller announced they are teaming up to search for Haleigh. Miller said the search will take place in four to six weeks -- when he believes weather conditions and vegetation will be more conducive to finding the girl.

During the discussion, a review was conducted of the initial call, searches that had been performed, evidence that had been gathered, results of laboratory analysis of the evidence and the results of various interviews by the different agencies.

The participants determined there are still some of the more than 4,000 leads received to be followed up on, and different ways of prioritizing those leads were discussed. Also, quite a lot of evidence was initially collected by the FDLE Crime Scene Technicians. Some has not yet been analyzed, and priorities were set for that analysis. Each agency accepted responsibility for various continuing assignments as the investigation moves forward.

The above bolded by you plainly states that some has yet to be analyzed, and priorities were set for that analysis. Standard operating procedure in any case...they are trained to set those priorities. No where in that link does it state your eyeball test theory. They will test in priority asignment the evidence provided by crime scene techs. If you have any other evidence of malfeasance by LE, please don't just post about it...report it.

Sorry, I forgot to add IMO to each word like I have been forced into doing lately. It is IN MY OPINION, the same reason she wasn't looked at as a suspect is probably the same reason that they were allowed a "courtesy phone call" prior to doing a warrant search on their property. Now...I don't know exactly the reason for it...but I do have my own ideas which is why I can't mention them here. IT IS MY OPINION.
