If you are referring to my post about the children telling CS they had moved, that's all I said, I did not say they told her the address. Although my daughter is only 9 days younger than Haleigh she was taught her address and phone @ 4 ys. old. I have no idea if Haleigh had been taught hers.

She's had so many in her short life, at least 4 in the year before she disappeared. And now her father has moved again.

Yes, Ron and his mother had emotions that I'd expect. They cried real tears, not fake ones.

It seems that tunnel vision is a problem sometimes when these cases are discussed. I've changed my mind on a lot of cases. When Laci went missing, I thought her husband was innocent at first. Then more information came out and I saw him for the sociopath he is. More information about Ron has not come out. I read on the comments section of a newspaper down there about Ron not searching. Was he supposed to search? I thought the cops always told parents not to search because if they found evidence, it would be destroyed. look at JonBenet ramsey's case, the parents should have never searched her house or found her.

Hi Wrangler! Good thoughts. If I knew how to post a picture I would post some for you from the early weeks of this case. Ronald Cummings actually was extremely active in the foot searches and the horseback searches that were conducted for Haleigh. I have links to pictures of him on horseback and and there is even an interview discussing the instance when PCSO called off the ground searches and Ronald begged them to please continue.

snipped from article~Authorities emphasized that they are not abandoning the search and they're not giving up hope that they'll find Haleigh.

Deputies said they'll continue to follow hundreds of leads they've received over the past week.

Tim Miller of Texas EquuSearch wrapped up his search for Haleigh Cummings, 5, on Sunday. Haleigh’s father, Ronald Cummings, begged Miller to stay, but EquuSearch had other obligations.

“I’m not giving up on m y daughter. Never,” Cummings said.

“It’s heartbreaking for us also because when we were out here it gave him some hope,” Miller said. “There were people out here and it was a comfort to him. ~ end snip

more from additional article: snipped~As Law Enforcement scaled back on the search, the family of Haleigh Cummings were becoming critical of Law Enforcement. Snip~"I asked that we get permission for horses to still be out here to look," Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, said Monday. "It's not time to give up. It's still time. My daughter is still out there, and we want her home." Crystal Sheffield, Haleigh's mother, also hoped search efforts will continue.
"I feel like they should stay expand the search," Sheffield said. "
They need to search other areas, but I do think they should stay."
Florida Department of Law Enforcement Special Agent Dominic Pape confirmed that efforts to find Haleigh have not diminished, just entered a new phase.

So yes, Ronald did help in the search efforts while they lasted. I am sickened that the foot and area searches ended after 2 weeks. But that is just my opinion.

Crystal wasn't involved with Ronald anymore. I don't think it is appropriate to make assumptions about her feelings. I am very clear on how she felt about Ronald while she was in a relationship with him. But she had been away from him long enough to make some changes in her life. She had another child and in my opinion embarked on an emotionally stable relationship with Chloe's father.

I know that there is a way to recover from what you have labeled as "learned helplessness". It's just my personal opinion that placing the blame on Ronald because Crystal didn't know where her children lived is inappropriate. If Crystal felt that her children were at risk and she didn't know where they lived and she wanted to find them, and even if she felt as if she didn't know how to go about getting that information because of learned helplessness, anyone of her family could have guided her in that endeavor.

Not being her Mental Health professional there is no way for anyone to know what state she was in at the time. I do not believe there is an expiration date in the clinical data regarding that particular mental health concern. If she had it, which I believe is quite probable....there is no way to put a time limit on recovery.

I am uncomfortable with the family members doing actual searching. First, because how horrible if they'd happen to find the decaying body of their loved one. Second, because if they're involved and know where the body is to be found they could use the search as an opportunity to plant or destroy evidence. If they want to help, let them make coffee for the searchers or beg for funds or something.

Searcher convinced Haleigh dead

By Kristin Chambers

The founder of a search team involved in the quest to find Haleigh Cummings says he believes the child is dead and authorities will be lucky to find her body.

Texas Equusearch founder Tim Miller, who has assisted law enforcement in the search for Haleigh since February, says the group focuses on finding children who still have a chance to be alive. That no longer includes the missing 6-year-old from Satsuma.

"In no way possible do I believe Haleigh is alive," Miller said. "Haleigh's going to be just as deceased tomorrow as she is today, or next week as she was six months ago, bottom line. And I hope I'm wrong about that. But let's try to save the ones that just disappeared or that we have leads on, with people that are cooperating, rather than fighting with these families."

Here ya go Texasmommy!

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/mostpopular/news-article.aspx?storyid=131483&provider=top

The Bards spoke well of RC and their observations of life at 202 Green Lane. They rented to Ronald previously before he moved into their home on Green Lane. They were his landlord for both places. Mrs. Bard states that He moved into the trailer with his 2 children in November.

Hope that helps. Considering that the Christmas stockings were still on the mantle I knew it was more than 2 months since he had moved there.

bbm~well elle, by my calculations if they moved into Green Ln in November (I didn't read when in November tho) and HaLeigh disappeared in Feb, that would make it at most 2 months, maybe a little less, no? Where are you reading that they had lived there more than 2 months? I also did not read in that article where the Bards spoke so highly of Ron...of how adorable the children were, yes...of Ron, I didn't see anything like that. Since this is being stated as fact, what did I miss? TIA!

Well, if it was the beginning of November it could have been three months and a few days. November, December, January and 9 days of Feb. Dunno if it matters.

LOL Donjeta, You and elle are correct! I stand corrected by you both, never was good in math, but even so...:blushing:

I was figuring like this...moved in in November, so starting Dec. (1 mth), Jan. (2 mths.) then February. Would you believe that I actually work in finance for a living, lol!

My apologies elle! :truce: Thanks Donjeta, you da bestest! :blowkiss:

I agree, no possible way to estimate how quickly or slowly any woman , or man for that matter, would recover from any mental illness. It's just my opinion that Crystal did not appear to be weak or beaten down. It is my hope that Crystal or Ronald are seeking counseling for any issues that would prevent them from providing their children a safe and loving home.

Thank you for making me aware of that article I have been busy cooking all afternoon and haven't had a chance to check my alerts. Very sad that article. I guess there are some that feel Haleigh is no longer with us. Heaven knows I have some doubts myself.

As far as family members searching for their missing family or loved ones, I suppose it is a double edged sword of sorts. I hope I never have to be inside the shoes of a missing parent. But you know, the way things are going these days who knows? With all these lives of our precious and most important natural resource in our country, I am beginning to think that instead of asking how these things can happen, we will be asking when these things will happen to our child.

So Tim Miller says
"In no way possible do I believe Haleigh is alive," Miller said. "Haleigh's going to be just as deceased tomorrow as she is today, or next week as she was six months ago, bottom line.

And then Deputy Hancel Woods, a spokesman for the Putnam County Sheriff's Office says
"We still have hope that we are going to bring that little girl home safe."

Maybe TM should clue LE in on the evidence he has that says Haleigh is deceased, maybe it would help them.

CC, it is two very different contradictory statements by the "TWO" of the most in the know concerning the case as to facts, evidence and relationship with the "Players". Both have been up close and personal, at the home, talking with ron and misty. blah blah

Wonder why they are "two worlds" literally apart? When they sit in a round table discussion behind the scenes, in front and in doing, manuevering the case forward, right and wrongly. LOL

To me, something agitates me about the differences. Because it's stoopid. They should at least be in the same atmosphere. We need Kimster here with all this universe talk I'm doing hehehehe

Where art thou lovely member Kimster? :innocent:

Maybe IF they listened to TM it would help them....Or maybe they don't want to be helped..And maybe TM knows that..Whats that area called that Ron C worked in at PDM? North-40 something like that... Did LE ever check that area?JMO

It was my understanding from multiple posters here that TM works with LE. From those 2 statements that doesn't seem to be entirely the case.

Really don't know and furthermore don't care, But IF TM believes after spending the time he has with ALL the Cummings that Haleigh is deceased, I'm going with what he says as being the TRUTH....JMO

Well, eternal optimist I am, I'm going to go w/ the PCSO and have hope they bring her home safe, alive. :)

  • #616
I am a very optimistic person, but I also believe in dealing with reality and probabilities. Although not entirely impossible she is alive (there have been a handful of cases in history after being gone so long) applying probabilities and common sense tells me it is highly unlikely Haleigh is alive. I also believe the officer or PCSO used the word "hope" instead of "believe". I hope she is alive too, but I don't believe she is.

Being optimistic in no way means I don't deal in reality. I think it is a very real possibilty Haleigh may be alive and apparently PCSO thinks so too. There isn't enough evidence afaiac for me to believe she is dead. If more evidence is found or released through LE I may change my mind. :)

I agree as I mentioned there is a very remote possibility, but we will have to agree to disagree on the interpretation of what LE said.

  • #619
Well, without a body there is always going to be hope- PCSO cannot say, we think shes dead, they wouldnt do that to the families, right now there is hope, statistics and the events surrounding her the night she was last seen raises doubt, but without proof, thats all they can say is that they hope she is alive- We all hope for that-
