I don't feel God stepped in at all.I do feel he will.I do not agree with thier decission. This was and is a very unsafe and unfit enviroment for these children to be in.MC may have been passed out on drugs and was hung over from them from that weekend. That is abuse and neglect to me.She should have never been in this situation and he should have never allowed it.I really hope they are forced to go to rehab and long term treatment. It is sad to see they do not see where any of thier behavior or lifestyle or the people they were hanging around and bringing around these poor children may have caused harm to Haleigh.Have they learned anything from this?I will keep them and JR and Haleigh in my prayers.I pray we find Haleigh soon.

I understand your opinion, and don't share it. I am delighted Junior will remain with his father, and pray HaLeigh will be home with them soon. I am not one for coincidence. Things happen for a reason imo, my faith leads me to know this was fair, just, and right. Jmo

I would like to know what was found that is forcing the two of them into parenting classes...

Flossie, you have mentioned "coincidence" before. What are you referring to?

Ok,Thank you for sharing.I just pray for JRS sake they shape up and stay clean and be careful of who they hang around with. They need to think of this little boy now.

I think people are confusing the word, "Babysit" and "childcare 24/7". Not too many 16/17 year olds have toddlers to watch 24 hours a day. This girl had an abused past also...not a good candidate to choose to care for your children full time. Poor Judgement on the parent's part but the State wasn't investigating "poor judgement". State relieves themselves of responsibility by giving them "parenting classes".

BBM
I myself am not confusing either word- babysit or childcare... bottom line is caring for a child or children! Ronald failed as a parent and he is living with that choice.

Robbie, I was responding to the people that said they babysat when they were 17 yrs. old....and 16 yrs old. They said there was no problem.

Know what? I am going to give all the RC believers their time to be happy. The least I should do. I rushed in too quickly when I heard the news. I let my feelings about the determination push me to post.

However, I am really interested in Flossie's word "coincidence", since I seen it posted before....if it is related to RC...since this is his thread.

Care to expound upon the "parenting classes" issue?

Well, here's an interesting article from the St Petersburg Times about the State of Florida using them in a shift of policy to one that focuses on keeping families together and remove (sic) fewer children from parents accused of abuse or neglect.

Regier says the state should work harder at getting help for families accused of abuse and neglect, by providing substance abuse and mental health counseling, mentoring and even such basics as parenting programs.

Glad you found the link elsewhere. I am hoping that it is at an "approved" site so the reported info can remain.

so sorry if it sound like I was attacking you... this whole case leaves me feeling hateful. please forgive me if i offend anyone..:blowkiss:

Most likely Misty's age and the lack of any proper parenting to use as a guideline. It's a new marriage under stressful conditions so I see nothing wrong with them taking it.

Me, too. :blowkiss:

As a teacher (many years ago), I witnessed the damage strict adherence to a policy like this could do. I pulled out those old class pix today and looked at the children that I knew, then, were suffering. I hope they survived to lead better lives.

I do not see parenting classes as a bad thing, anything to provide a parent with additional skills and support is a good thing. Heck I think parenting classes would be a good idea for anyone who has a child.

I think we all could use guidance on being good parents, Busy. I know I could and my kids are in their late 20s and 30s now ! I guess you never stop learning the most important job in your life. Voluntary classes are great.

The problem is when the state uses these classes as a low cost and/or more PC palatable alternative to other corrective action. I don't know that is the case here, but the State of Florida appears to have moved in that direction, as policy.

Snipped.

Ron believers?

I would think that Ron being cleared in this investigation should make EVERYONE happy! The fact that HaLeigh & Junior were not abused should be WONDERFUL news to each and every person that cares about these children, or children in general. What that has to do whether or not you think Ron has anything to do with HaLeigh's disappearance is beyond me. The kids were not abused - why can't people be happy about that? Do people really hate Ron that much they cannot be happy for the children? Is that what this case has boiled down to?

i love you Busy, logic and fair. (((Busy))))

Ok Ladies and Gentlemen, CS and her mother, MG, made accusations of child abuse. DCF investigated and found no evidence to support the allegations. This is good news and everyone should be happy.

I swear - some of you would argue with a tree. Stop it.

Parenting classes for parents of a 4 year old who's big sister disappeared in the middle of the night seems appropiate. I know I wouldn't know what to do to help him.
