Upon speaking with Misty she stated that she had talked to her brother on the telephone. She said that she asked him why he had been calling her residence all day. She said that he asked her if he could come over and she said no because it was too late. She said that he then made a big ordeal about not being able to see her and said he was coming over anyway.

Sure doesn't sound like she called them.

Personally, I don't believe that.. Didn't GGMS state there was an altercation between Hank Jr and Ron C earlier in the afternoon?

“I don’t even understand my daughter…she’s the one that called us crying and surely I’m her father, I’m going to see what’s wrong with her and especially because I don’t trust Ronald anymore. I wish my daughter would have never married him…I wish I would have never let it happen,” said Misty’s father Hank Croslin, Sr.

IMO Too many people are saying it is a fact that Ron was defending Misty. Where in the police report does it state he was trying to defend Misty??? He could have stated he was defending her and DID NOT say that. You say that, not RON.

It seems none of us have knowledge of what takes place in their home. We are trying to garner information from the sources available. The police report was drafted by a far more objective person than the Cummings or Croslin families, I believe it carries more weight than the opinions of Ron's fan club.
Sykes said the Croslins were trying to get Misty Cummings into their van to come with them but she refused. Sykes said Croslin hit Cummings and started a fight.

http://www.jacksonville.com/news/me...ted_for_burglary_battery_involving_brother_in

Sykes says Ronald went into her home, came out, and punched Croslin, Jr. to keep him from taking Misty away.

This is interesting to note: Annette Sykes did tell Action News Misty has filed a restraining order against her brother, Hank Croslin, Jr. She says she is also thinking of filing trespassing charges on both Hank Junior and Senior for coming onto her property uninvited.

http://www.actionnewsjax.com/conten...peak-about-arrest/mLXK584190mQsmKIOzg82g.cspx

No...GGS said that. They were trying to make her to leave against her will.

Oh...here it comes....the want for cash. Who was it that said the Croslins were going to sue? LOL:

The Croslins say they too are thinking about filing civil claims in addition to the criminal charges. Hank Croslin, Jr. tells us his doctor has said he’s suffered a severely strained neck and back from the fight he got into with Ronald.

Hey LaLaw...you snuck one in on me...glad to see ya!

Hi, yourself!

I have been trying to stay away from this forum but did want to read about this latest fiasco.

I don't know if this has anything to do with finding Haleigh, but it does make me question the Croslin family a bit - need to rethink that a little.

I'm only on page 2 of this thread, Busylady, so forgive me if this has already been discussed.

Why do you think the Croslin family is worried about Misty? So worried, that they would go to the Cummings' and try to force her into their van? And then Dad Croslin doesn't want to do a statement because he doesn't want his daughter mad at him. This is weird! It sounds as if Misty is not keeping in very close contact with her parents and maybe the parents think that is RC's fault?

I got my info from the very first linked article in post 1 of this thread (sorry I'm not reposting the link, forgot to grab it).

Let's just assume for discussion purposes that Ron DID have Misty tell them not to come. Ok, fine, so what? I probably told my husband a time or two that I didn't want his family to drop by at an inconvenient time. BUT they always did it anyway and I never once flew out of my house in a rage to attack them because of how they were approaching my house, and my FIL was known to have some people who perceived an aggressive presence about him!

So, Ron didn't want them there, why the attack(s)? Why so violently angry about it? Why not just say firmly, "we're all ok here, see here's Misty she's fine, you can relax and go home and get a good night's sleep knowing all is well, she'll call you in the morning, maybe you all can go to lunch or something" ? Why not just be civil, but firm, that all was well, show them a happy faced Misty and get on with it? The very fact that Ron reacted so violently tells the true story that something had him seething before the in-laws ever pulled into the driveway.

But they don't say this to law enforcement or in their written statements??? They watched darling grandson and hubby get hauled off to jail and no one utters this to police? I repeat...where is defense of Misty mentioned in the police report by Ron, Misty or GGS?

NO where does it say anyone was trying to force her into the van, grabbing her, or pushing her or anything about against her will. Just trying to reason with her, explain that cooler heads would see things different at a later time etc. and offer her their help is not trying to force her against her will. NO one at the scene said against her will-- where do these fabrications even come from????

Maybe these little dramas will help break down some walls, unseal some lips, and reveal what the heck happened to little Haleigh.
---
Pure speculation follows:

I can speculate as to what happened at the OK Corral. Perhaps RC and MC were fighting; perhaps MC was even struck. Perhaps MC gets away from RC and calls her family (screaming and crying) to come and get her. Obviously, her family loves her, so they hop in their cars and run to her rescue. I don't fault her family for that move. In the time it takes for the family to arrive, and it becomes obvious to RC that MC called them, perhaps RC "convinces" MC to change tactics. Something could have been said like, "Beyotch, if they come over here you don't want to see what will happen" or "If you go with them then don't ever come back" or "I'll tell them what happened to Haleigh." [You fill in the blank] Maybe once the family arrived on the scene MC changed her story and told them to leave. The Croslins, likely confused and upset, argue with MC and RC. RC feels threatened by the family and a scuffle ensues. Grandma pops out of the house/trailer and tells them to leave. The Croslins prepare to leave by getting in their cars and RC takes one parting shot at them from the passenger seat.
---
Interesting that RC "lawyered up" right away. Heh. A group of people come to your house (or your Mom's house) to steal away your wife and you need to lawyer up? :) [insert huge eye roll]

I hope for Misty's sake she is telling the truth (that she told her family not to come over and that she had not called them earlier crying and begging them to come). It would be a shame if something was going terribly wrong and she had no family members to turn to because of a burned bridge.

Since when is a shove or push considered an assault when you are trying to defend yourself? I sure hope Ronald gets a good attorney for this.

Floridians' Self-Defense Rights Expanded
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,155303,00.html

Thirdly, persons attacked in any place outside the home where they have a
legal right to be may also use force to defend themselves. This last measure
is the most significant change because previous law dictated that a person
has a “duty to retreat” from confrontation before he or she can use deadly
force in a public space, meaning he or she has to try to flee an attacker first.

In October 2005, Florida enacted new a type of "stand your ground" law
http://www.nolo.com/article.cfm/objectID/0E58A0AD-0152-4662-95A4EF2184710903/104/143/127/ART/
Now, Florida residents can use deadly force in their homes even if they don’t
fear physical injury. They can fire on anyone who unlawfully, forcibly enters
their home. And the definition of "home" now includes vehicles, so a Florida
resident can use deadly force against anyone who forcibly, unlawfully
intrudes in their car or on their boat.

The Florida law also extended "stand your ground" rights beyond the home
and car. A Florida resident outside their home can now use deadly force if
they have a reasonable fear that someone is about to use deadly force
against them. In other words, in Florida, outside your home, there is no
longer a duty to retreat when faced with deadly harm.

I would think a push is better than using a gun....

It sounds to me like her brother was physically trying to take her according to this statement.:

Sykes says Ronald went into her home, came out, and punched Croslin, Jr. to keep him from taking Misty away.

http://www.actionnewsjax.com/conten...peak-about-arrest/mLXK584190mQsmKIOzg82g.cspx

LOL....GGM was pretty specific about the other shoving, pushing, hitting descriptions. If TC had Misty thrown over his shoulder and was hauling her to the car ala Jethro and Ellie Clampett style---I'm pretty sure Ms. Sykes could have told that to the officer!

I guess it will all come out in court as will the reason they were really there against the objections for them to ever be on that property in the first place.

So the family had to come up with about 1200-1300 bucks to bail him out of jail ?
I would have let him sit there until he got out on his own personal recognizance bond what is it a couple of days max. Let him sit and stew it does a body good...:)

Before I back out of here I just want to say that when I heard of Ronald's arrest, I did not automatically think it was in relation to Haleigh. But I was not surprised at Ronald's anger getting the best of him again. I will never be surprised at reading of this sort of arrest.

I am looking forward to seeing just what charges stand. I have read the report and think it was pretty straightforward. Sad, but I do not think the burglary of a conveyance will stand. I have never seen it used in this context. I do, however, feel that Ronald is guilty of assault. JMO. I hope this does proceed to trial. With that, I am out of here.

I would normally think so too...but not in this case. If Ronald had come out with his weapon and Hank Jr came towards him aggressively with an intent to commit bodily harm...he could have put a bullet between his eyes and this case would be closed.

Is there some reason that you assume Misty cannot think for herself? Perhaps MISTY herself did not want her brother and father to show up at her home?

From what we have read, not only did they show up at an "inconvenient" time as you called it, they tried to take her. IMO, that's kidnapping. I can only imagine what "taking her" consisted of. This whole evening sounded like a nightmare.

Sykes says Ronald went into her home, came out, and punched Croslin, Jr. to keep him from taking Misty away.
