Ronald Cummings, drug trafficking charges

  • #201
I haven't been around much because this case upsets me beyond belief, and the Anthony case is a joke with all the "unusual" attorneys jumping on her band wagon right and left, not to mention poor Kyron, Gabriel, and others who are God knows where..........

Just a little while ago I remembered RC's court date today so came here to check. Thankfully I didn't have to wait all day to find out. Thanks for being on top of it, everyone.

I've always felt LE and the State's Attorneys on the case were truly wanting justice for Haleigh. Now I don't think so. Where was the lecture RC should have gotten for endangering his children, and then ultimately endangering Butterbean after Haleigh was "took"? Why cut a deal with an "unusual" person who couldn't be bothered to spill information for 20 months but now that HIS life is on the line, he's going to tell what he knows? Why give RC the same sentence as the ones who had less drugs than him? Why give him such a light sentence compared to his charges and that of the others? Why allow him a deal when he's the one who put his child's life in danger by doing drugs in the first place?
Sure, Tommy has kids but TC's kids aren't missing. RC had a responsibility to Haleigh and to Butterbean, and he failed them miserably. He didn't even make an honest effort to search for his missing daughter and Butterbean was just an interruption in his drug-dealing lifestyle. Where is his lecture? Where is his rightful punishment?

:furious: Something is rotten in Putnam County! :furious:

BBM: In this article, it is mentioned at the end that the prosecutors may have been sympathic due to Ron having a missing child..................:furious:

"He is a good father, he has two children," said Teresa Neves. "We might not know where one is, but he has two children."

Okay, wait, so TN said this while testifying under oath? I'm not clear about how character witnessing works. "We MIGHT not know..." What? Under oath, we're qualifying our knowledge about where Haleigh is now?

Somebody slap me.

Because that "MIGHT" in that there quote is now bothering me. A lot. And making me itch. And growl. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

What a messed up system in Putnam County. I think I'm done following this case until/unless Haleigh is found. This is sickening.

God Bless you and hold you close, Haleigh.

Thank you for pointing this out. She needs to get her grief and pain out in the public eye. Holding a huge picture of her daughter or a sign touting "Justice for Haleigh" Something!! Maybe to late now but she is the only hope for continuing media coverage and letting the public never forget, as well as the cummings family.

Urg!! tn on the stand. Really thats all u can come up w/, he's a good father?? umm in my humble opinion ron has shown the world the exact opposite of what a good parent does for their children.

MAKES ME WANNA HOLLER

And WHY is CRYSTAL disappointed.. Hopefully, it isn't because she thinks his sentence is to harsh......

  • #206
Does this mean prosecutors do not think RC was involved??? That's saying something since they have a lot more info behind the scenes than we do, IMO.

It was Shoemaker who made the comment about the prosecutors.

oh wow.

Interesting quote. Thanks!

WHY would Crystal be "deeply disappointed" at the minimum maximum minimum served concurrently for Ron? Hmmmm.... Oh gosh, I need to know if she is disappointed it's a light sentence? or disappointed that it's a heavy sentence? :waitasec: Do they (Crystal) know something about Haleigh that absolves Ron or otherwise? I know she's thinking about Jr., but, I am sure she's also thinking about Haleigh...

(LOL. Yes, I'm cheating a peek whilst I pack.)

I know! Why do I think she is pitying him and feels bad for the sentence? Even if she thinks he had nothing to do w/ Haleigh's disappearance IMO I would think she'd still be pretty mad that he was in custody of her daughter when she went missing. And has'nt done anything to help find her and married the "key" and was taking her son on drug deals. For me that invokes anger not tears. I pray I'm wrong and she"s just as disappointed as alot of us are that he peddled his daughters name to get a lighter sentence.

Anyone want to discuss the fine? I have been Googling around but don't have anything specific for this state so I am not linking. However, most sources say that court costs cannot be thrown out because of a bankruptcy.

Seems like LE has a say in if/when fines are paid? Sometimes people don't pay and nothing happens unless they are pulled over, then a bench warrant is served. Sometimes it appears the court gets actively involved.

Does anyone have more info on what is in store re: these fines when Ron gets out?

REMINDER: We have a lot of different outlooks when it comes to Ron in here. Remain respectful. If someone's post ignites a fire in you, don't post until you cool off.

A few posts have been removed. No one is in "trouble" at this point, but we can't let them remain if it is going to start hard feelings.

Thank you all! :grouphug:

Remember, everyone is here for one precious little girl - HALEIGH!

My bad - didn't explain very well. It is okay to express your own opinion about the sentence. It is not okay to get upset with another poster about their opinion. Just wanted to clarify.

And no bashing the players.

Okay, I think that's it. :)

BBM...You're right Emma. She either does know or doesn't know. No "might" to it! What is she really saying?!?

Crystal Sheffield, Haleigh's mother, and other family members were in the courthouse parking lot, crying. They said they were deeply disappointed at the sentence, they said.

I wish they would have elaborated more...disappointed that he didn't get enough time or too much time????

IMO, it doesn't matter if he got 15, 30 or 90 years...he did nothing to find HaLeigh, nothing but marry the one who is the POI in her alleged demise.

If he was part of that alleged fight over this alleged rare gun, then he knows exactly who, why HaLeigh was taken...why didn't he tell the authorities right away? Did he worry about being charged with an illegal gun??? Is there any chance of finding HaLeigh???

I wonder why his greatest supporter GGMAS didn't show up and speak up on his behalf??? TN used HaLeigh as well in asking for leniency. I wonder if she thought of how much danger RC placed Butterbean in when he was wheeling and dealing the entire time HaLeigh was there and wasn't? How good a father is he putting those children in danger and while he's denying another child?

Sadly, this doesn't help to find HaLeigh and what's become of her and the WHOS of who's responsible for her alleged demise...JMHO I only hope once MC gets wind of his sentence and she gets the most time out of this, I can only imagine this is when she will sing like a songbird!

Too bad, this becomes too little, too late...JMHO

Where's justice for HaLeigh???

It was Shoemaker who made the comment about the prosecutors.
Well, it's MOO that if the prosecutors had felt real sympathy for Ron, they would've dropped some more or all of the charges. Just set him free. They had the power to do that, but didn't, so it's MOO, that Shoemaker needs to let the prosecutors speak for themselves. & as they say...'actions speak louder than words', & Ron IS going to the pen.

I am still :furious: over the out come of todays hearing. I have not emailed Marie or Crystal in a while, but I think I just might send her an email today. Somebody needs to scream out for Justice for Haleigh, this case has gone on long enough and putting these perps in jail for drugs is not bringing any closure to Haleigh or her innocent family members. I am not saying they should not be in jail, just saying they should also be in jail for interfering in a criminal investigation, lying to LE, and hurting Haleigh. Who ever hurt her needs to pay!

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Ronald Cummings will spend 15 years in prison.

Cummings pleaded guilty to three counts of drug trafficking hydrocodone in July. Two of the three counts carry a minimum sentence of 15 years.

The judge decided he will serve the sentences concurrently, putting him behind bars for 15 years. The judge also ordered Cummings to pay $250,000 in fines.

You know, your post has made me feel a little better, I wish he had been sentenced more years but at least for awhile he will not be selling drugs, maybe at least one innocent child will be saved from doing drugs, and he will be in prison not just jail.

I have said the same thing about Jr.

As I see it, it has to be one of two things. Either Ron was involved in Heleighs disappearance and there for knew Jr was safe. Which as far as I am concerned should get him a life sentence. Or he was not involved in any way, has no idea what happened, but continued to put Jrs life at risk everyday by keeping him in the exact same life style.
For me putting a helpless someone in the way of being murdered deserves a life sentence as well.

I know this was about the drugs but I feel there are charges that need to be filed against Ron either way.

Just my opinion of course.
