With Ron's sentencing being what it is, I now hope that Tommy is successful in getting his sentence modified, and that Hope's appeal results in her sentence being commuted to a few years in boot camp.

I had until today maintained a modicum of respect for the SA and Judge LaRue. Now even that is gone.

Poor Haleigh never had a chance and even the authorities didn't care, and still don't.

I say we still have to have hope there is a method behind all this madness.

I know! Why do I think she is pitying him and feels bad for the sentence? Even if she thinks he had nothing to do w/ Haleigh's disappearance IMO I would think she'd still be pretty mad that he was in custody of her daughter when she went missing. And has'nt done anything to help find her and married the "key" and was taking her son on drug deals. For me that invokes anger not tears. I pray I'm wrong and she"s just as disappointed as alot of us are that he peddled his daughters name to get a lighter sentence.

If she thinks he was not directly involved she may think her son is paying the ultimate price by losing his sister to Misty Croslin, and his father to the collateral damage this case has brought.

If Haleigh was not missing Putnam county would not be trying any of these guys for trafficking. They never cared before. That might be what she is upset about.

The Ron smirk was, once again, sickening. To me, it's as if he's saying, "See, Haleigh! I'm still more important, more precious, more special than you! Always have been, always will be.":sick:

And, it seems to me, the DA, the judge, LE and TN all agree with him. :furious::furious:

I just got online. Total of 15 years, served concurrently? Did I get that right? TIA

Was there any mention of time served? TIA

How much of those 15 years must be served before probation? TIA

FWIW, when can we expect the first appeal of the sentence, and how successful do you think any appeals (if filed) will be? (based on how things work in Putnam Co.?, I don't know that court system) TIA!

I found this statement interesting from CS, I really didn't know she felt this way.

Haleigh's mother, Crystal Sheffield -- who was never married to Ronald Cummings and has lived apart for several years -- refuses to believe that the girl is dead.

"It's these liars that's in jail that's telling them that. They have nothing to back that up," Sheffield said outside the courtroom on Friday. "My baby's out there and I know she's going to come home."

"They have nothing to back that up"
Wonder what she is talking about? Is the liars everybody else excluding RC?

I can't get into booking it is down. The picture I saw last night of a Crystal Cummings booked was not Ron's sister. But I'll check again in a little while.

I could never judge Crystal's feelings. If she thinks the sentence is too harsh, then so be it. I always felt that she had mixed feelings about Ron, & if she truly thinks he's blameless in Haleigh's disappearance, then I understand her being upset. 15 years IS a long time. We can look at this objectively, because we have no dog in this fight, but she's Haleigh's & Jr's mother, & Ron's their dad, & this has got to hurt. the same way Lindsey hurt. It's all such a pitiful waste. But with that said, & looking in from the outside, I'm glad Ron got that 15 years. He deserves every one of them.

All three defendants are central figures in the disappearance of Ronald Cummings' 5-year-old daughter in February 2009. After an Amber Alert, weeks of exhaustive searching and an investigation involving more than 4,000 leads, Haleigh remains missing. In April, the Putnam County sheriff said she is likely dead and described the case as a homicide investigation.

Crystal only has hope to hang on to...She feels HaLeigh isn't deceased and I'm sure she's speaking of the Croslins who are liars....As far as we know RC was at work...

Without hope what does she have???

Justice for HaLeigh!

Guilty to three charges, two at fifteen each, one at three years, but sentenced to be served concurrently, so fifteen all in.

Florida is an 85% of your sentence state but this sentence is a minimum mandatory, so they will all have to do the full fifteen. They, like all prisoners held for trial, will receive credit for time served.

Ron took a negotiated deal, not a no contest plea so I cannot see an appeal being an issue for him. I do not believe any of the others will have any luck with an appeal.

If you step back and look at statewide application of sentences (and not focus on the microscope on this case and its players) the sentences are not out of line when compared to other trafficking cases.

"He is a good father, he has two children," said Teresa Neves. "We might not know where one is, but he has two children."

Okay, wait, so TN said this while testifying under oath? I'm not clear about how character witnessing works. "We MIGHT not know..." What? Under oath, we're qualifying our knowledge about where Haleigh is now?

Somebody slap me.

Because that "MIGHT" in that there quote is now bothering me. A lot. And making me itch. And growl. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

IMO it sounds an awful lot like some of them know where she is but there MIGHT be someone in the family who doesn't.

FYI, there is more to being a good father than just having a certain number of children. Like taking care of them and being there for them, keeping them safe and avoiding prison sentences that take you away from their lives.

So Ron doesn't buy Misty and Tommy's story. I wonder what story he would buy? I just don't get it, what did Ron give the SA for them to drop 2 charges and give him such a light sentence? Haleigh still has not been found and nobody had been charged with her murder. So why the special treatment for Ronald? :furious: Notice how the article reads "All three defendants are central figures in the disappearance of Ronald Cummings' 5-year-old daughter in February 2009" I will assume it is Ronald, Misty, and Tommy? Unless there is something about Hope Sykes we don't know about.

Haleigh's Dad Sentenced To 15 Years
Father Of Missing Girl Could Have Faced Up To 90 Years In Prison

PALATKA, Fla. -- Ronald Cummings, the father of a girl who disappeared 19 months ago, will serve 15 years in prison and was fined $200,000 for selling prescription drugs.

VIDEO REPORT: Haleigh's Dad Sentenced http://www.clickorlando.com/video/25145883/index.html

All three defendants are central figures in the disappearance of Ronald Cummings' 5-year-old daughter in February 2009.
In April, the Putnam County sheriff said she is likely dead and described the case as a homicide investigation.

Shoemaker, Cummings' attorney, told reporter Tarik Minor that his client isn't buying his ex-wife and brother-in-law's account of Haleigh's disappearance, saying a cousin from Tennessee went to Cummings' mobile home to retrieve a gun and took Haleigh instead.
"Ronald has a hard time believing someone would go to the house to get a gun and take a child instead," Shoemaker said. "He questions that aspect of it."

Shoemaker said that if Haleigh's body is never found but police are able to make an arrest, testimony may be the basis of a criminal prosecution.

And he got a deal for saying he doesn't buy Misty and Tommy's story? There are any number of people here who could have told them ages ago they don't buy Misty and Tommy's story.

I hope that at some point CS will finally let reality set in....I understand not giving up on your child's life not to mention that if she publicly state that Haleigh is dead then people will quit looking for her (in CS mind) but until and unless she finally finds an attorney to file a civil suite against all 3 RC, MC, HC and gets them all on the stand she will likely never find out what has happened to Haleigh....
