Ronald Cummings, drug trafficking charges

  • #281
Yes it is when the grandmother forgets about the other grandson.

"He is a good father, he has two children," said Teresa Neves. "We might not know where one is, but he has two children."

Thanks Dr. for bring forth this situation. This is the most outrageous part of today's proceedings. How can this woman get on the stand in a court of law, raise her hand to truth and make this statement?

Ron has three children. Is his mother implying that Ron is a good father to at least two of them? And adding that they don't know where one of them is, makes it sound as if being unware of where one child might be is something that happens to many good fathers.

If Ron and his family do not know where his one child is, how can he be called a "good" father to that particular child? He hasn't seen, held, hugged, fed or even searched for her for over 18 months!

And now! from the optimistic side of my brain:

Fifteen years and a large fine isn't too surprising. All week I've been seeing this number posted by members as a guess to what he would be sentenced.
Fifteen years is the punishment for the drug case Ron has pleaded to. Now we can look forward to LE and the DA to move onto the justice for Haleigh phase.

I still strongly believe that after Misty is sentenced, we will be hearing of charges and arrests in the case of Haleigh's fate. Part of that will require Ron to keep his part of the plea deal he made in exchange for having the two 25 year charges dropped. If he can't deliver, he's back to square one - facing the original drug charges.

Furthermore, dear WS members, I do plainly see Ron's name on the top of the list of charges and arrests in Haleigh's murder case. LE has spent too much time and energy not to be going forward with what happend to end the life of a five-year-old child.

She may be gone but she is not in the least forgotten. Let's all look ahead to those around Haleigh in life having to pay for her death! jmo

I agree lone. 85% of 15 yrs is 12 or 13 yrs, and accouning for time served, they will porbably give him time off for pain an suffering, etc. I'm surprised they gave him 15 yrs, even though it is man min. wonderwhy if 3 charges, he got 15, 15,3. shouldnt it have been 15X3?

Ron's charges carried minimums of 15, 15, 3. He got the minimum on all three counts.

Per the Florida DOC website the average time served by Florida inmates is a little over 86%.

Mr. www has a new article out. I know some of you don't wish to read what he has to say, but I thought I would mention it, just in case others do.

I don't know why I do this to myself. :innocent: But it is quotes.

artharris.com

Outside, First Coast News reported Crystal Sheffield, Haleigh’s mother, and other family members in the courthouse parking lot, crying. All said they believed the sentence was too short.

So did members of Croslin’s family. “I don’t see how it’s fair at all,” Misty’s sister in law, Chelsea Croslin, told The Bald Truth Friday. “Misty kept changing her story, and it always benefited Ronald. That’s why he’d always say, “I believe Misty.’ I think she’s scared to death to tell what she knows. No one seems interested at all in even hearing what she might have to say. There are a lot of things in her story that don’t add up, but I think she’s changed it because Ronald threatened her. I still think she’s protecting Ronald out of fear.”

I don't ever think Ron will be charged with anything in connection with Haleigh's case but I do believe he will be a key witness for the state.

Well, its really hard to deny when its all on tape. jmo

I don't think he would have denied it even if it wasnt on tape. He knew the undercover officer would be believed anyway.

With Ron's sentencing being what it is, I now hope that Tommy is successful in getting his sentence modified, and that Hope's appeal results in her sentence being commuted to a few years in boot camp.

I had until today maintained a modicum of respect for the SA and Judge LaRue. Now even that is gone.

Poor Haleigh never had a chance and even the authorities didn't care, and still don't.

I agree. If 15 years is fair for RC then Tommy and Hope deserve a lot less.

My only hope is that the SA and Judge are using this to get at Misty, to make her realize she is going under the bus big time and RC only got the same as the others.

I don't think Misty is going to budge though, whatever she gets is going to be less than what she would get and ... in her mind at least she won't be tagged as a child killer/accessory in prison -- only a fellow druggie.

The only good news is that little Jr is going to be safe from RC for ~15 years so has a chance to grow and be nurtured in an environment that is safe and balanced [hopefully]. Sister missing and Dad in prison though....

A sad day for HaLeigh IMO, both that her daddy ended up in prison for 15 years and ... also no-one cares enough to bring her home and allow her to be respectfully laid to rest and visited by loved ones.

[RC,MC,TN], "Maybe you can publicly choose to believe in your own lies that HaLeigh is still abducted and missing but ... how can you privately live with yourself? May the truth eat into your conscience and destroy your very soul".

Hmmm, poor choice of words. This reminds me of RC's prior terminology about HaLeigh missing "as an item of property" ... not a precious human life ... as if they temporarily misplaced an item. :furious:

Sentences can run consecutively (that is, if there are three charges, add up the years: 15, 15, and 3 would be 33. Or they can run concurrently, that is, all three sentences being served at the same time.

Fifteen years is a long time for selling prescription pills. None of these people are major traffickers.

BBM. This is a glimmer of hope, if Chelsea is out-raged and speaking out about Misty tending to protect Ron ... will this seed spread and infect other members of the Croslin's -- such that Tommy got 15 years as well and Misty ... maybe more!!

Maybe the SA is setting the Croslin's up to force some new info and revelations? Will this cause a significant enough shift in Misty's demeanor?

I think the sad truth in this case is that Haleigh fell victim to be "parented" by drug abusers. Ron can't be a key witness because he doesn't know anything and his credibility is marginal at best. Tommy doesn't know anything or he would have sold his soul long ago, he tried to sell any BS he could come up with. Donna Brock knows nothing, Hope knows nothing, Crystal doesn't know.

Which to me brings us back to full circle of either Misty was so high she doesn't know, or Misty isn't telling anything because any evidence she could lead them to would only put her on death row. I could be convinced of either in all honesty.

No one is covering for anyone here, unless it is for themselves imo. No in this group has an altruistic gene. No one is doing fifteen years to cover for another. And if they were all in on it together.... well you are only as strong as your weakest link and it is fierce competition to be the weakest link in this crowd. Someone would have rolled for immunity. They don't know. Misty might know....

SO, if he doesn't pay the fine, is he held in contempt? (since it is court ordered)

SO, now that he has been sentenced, What would happen if, lets say, that HaLeigh's case goes to trial and Ron is called upon to answer some questions and the SA finds that Ron hasn't answered truthfully, would they add those two 25 MM back to his record and then chrage him with them, and re sentence him?

(wow all that coffee made me dizzy-- lone--- i think i am having the visuals..lmao)

They dropped the two charges with 25 year mandatory sentences, so I'm not sure they can bring those back in. If Ronald reneges on his plea deal, I think they can then go back and give him the maximum penalties on the 3 charges he plead guilty to. I think two of the charges were 15-25 year sentences, so you're looking at 50 years right there on the maximum side.

Also, I don't think Ron can appeal this sentence. He pled GUILTY. The others pled NOLO, so they are able to appeal.

Wait, did Donna also plead guilty? If so, then I don't think she can appeal either.

We don't know if he is Ronald's child, she would know better than we do imo.

Would she know better than Ron? Ron did admit on camera it's possible he has another son.

This is crazy! I hav'nt left this page all day. I don't know what I'm waiting for and I don't know why I'm so disappointed. I know this was for the dealing but holy moly I was so hoping for something about Haleigh. Some glimmer of understanding why ron would hold information that was important enough that he got 2 charges thrown out but not important enough for him to give this info 2 yrs ago.?

  • #294

Sure it's possible, anything is possible. Unlikely imo, but possible. People post as if it's fact, which isn't true, it's only a rumor at this point.

One of the charges must have carried a much lower sentence.

I don't believe Ron will serve the full 15 either. Maybe 85% or with the overcrowding in prisons increasing ...it could even be less.

IMO

[Snipped]

I'm thinking some of the mandatory minimum laws will be repealed. From what I've read, several states are having problems with them. Then I have to wonder what it will do to some of the sentences already handed down. Perhaps he won't serve the full 15 afterall.

I do think 15 years is just for Ronald's offense. What is NOT just is the same sentence handed down for first time convictions of Tommy, Hope and Donna. Ronald had the long rap sheet and all the prior drug arrests, so I do think he deserved the 15.

Last count, he had THREE children, Teresa. Why does no one in that family care the "wonderful father" insists on ignoring his third child? :shakehead:

If a paternity tests says you are the parent you are and then you pay child support. If he was the parent he woud be paying child support and the grandmother has custody of that child. I wish people would quit berating this poor familly (yes this poor family) look at what they have gone through and in the media no less, I am so thankful my grandchildren are safe today so far.
Why don't we get on the ball and find Haleigh so the truth is known once and for all, it is so frustrating reading negative things on this case all the time.
Please remember Haleigh is missing and they are all going through hell.
How could they not be?

  • #297
I pray your right, but at this point I have lost all faith in the justice system in that town. Ron has gotten away with a lot in his life and will continue to do so IMO. Something is very very wrong, if I were CS I would bring charges against him for having Jr. and Haleigh around while he was dealing...or at least Jr. In one of the tapes Misty mentions they have to pick up Jr. before Ron's next run. Bring any and all charges and ask for a different judge/juristiction... :cow:

Good idea Madj. At the very least, I wonder if Crystal could file a civil suit against Ronald? If successful, at least she would be assured he will never make a penny off of Haleigh's name or her story. I mean....I'm assuming Shoemaker expects to be paid somehow.

What did we ever do before DNA tests?

Theres no good excuse to ignore a probable grandchild, even Ron basically admits he has another son.

Come on Peeps. We do not talk about what others post as being right or wrong. State what you feel but do not begrudge other posters from having an alternative point of view.

You can disagree absolutely.

Stating things like everyone says, accusing people of rumors, saying posters shouldn't say anything about the family.

When the family puts themselves out there, makes public statements and provides information they become a player. You can't bash them, but you may state your disagreement with what the Players have done or said.

Get it together in here. No more complaining about what other posters have written.

Mind your manners please.

considering it's a sentencing for prescription drug trafficking. He got more in florida then he would have here in canada. (if thats any consolation)

How true, I know someone who only got a couple of months. I was flabbergasted. It is just sickening here with the laws.
