Ronald proposes to Misty #2 UPDATE: Wedding planned for 03-12-09

Good Day all my first time posting here.

On that note now, I find this whole situation quite disturbing now, no little child at 5 yrs old is going to make a statement she wanted them married now. It appears IMHO both Ron and Misty and their so called parents have wrote Haleigh off now and that Haleigh will not be returning alive.

I truly hope that's' not the case but as each day goes by and watch all the actors in this bad show it just doesn't seem to get any better now. This whole case stinks beyond belief now.

By the way, jmo, but I really do believe Misty is expecting.

Oh, I know. My youngest girl is just about 3 weeks younger than Haleigh.... I cannot even bear to imagine what it would be like to lose her.

People laugh and tell stories at wakes. No one can be wracked with grief, 24 hours a day, under the microscope of 24-hour cable news.

But this isn't a wake or a funeral (at least that we know of - and their behavior suggests that they know exactly where Haleigh is and aren't that concerned about it.) Their little child has apparently vanished into thin air and it's only been about 4 weeks. I could perhaps understand if months had passed and there were no leads, no news. Then yes, you have to consider moving on with your life.

I don't find anything about this situation to be worthy of fun time or amusement by RC, MC or anyone in that family. It's not the time for that at all. And if they don't want the media involved, they should not have voluntarily put themselves in the spotlight. They ask for donations, volunteers, help, and then complain that they want privacy? There are thousands of missing peoples' families who would give anything to have the exposure and help that these folks are getting.

Lastly, they should be focused, determined and serious -- spending all resources solely on finding Haleigh. JMO.

You won't get bashed by me. Polly Klaas and Elizabeth Smart were abducted right out of middle-class/upper middle class homes--and no one suggests that their families were "negligent." This board is full of cases where perpetrators break into a house and rape, abduct or kill the occupants, sometimes leaving family members and friends behind. And then there are cases in which one parent has been in charge when a child was abducted, most famously the Adam Walsh case. His mother had taken him to a mall and he was ordered out of the store with several other kids who were being rowdy. They are still married, and no doubt have a marriage full of ups, down, and imperfections, just like the rest of us. God bless them for sticking it out.

Do I think it is ideal for a 17-year old to be essentially mothering a child Haleigh's age and a younger brother? Of course not. But all over the country, siblings are essentially rearing younger siblings because there is only one parent or only parents who are addicts or alcoholics or disabled or negligent. Misti may well have left the house unlocked or unattended. For that, if it turns out to be the case, she will suffer for the rest of her life.

That a 17-year-old would smile at announcing her engagement or hold her hand to show her new ring seems perfectly understandable. She is not a full-blown adult with adult concepts of propriety. Does she think she is a celebrity? Almost certainly so, since cameras follow her everywhere and dissect her every move. It was established pretty definitively yesterday on NG that there will not be a "spousal privilege" that would protect either party in the case of Haleigh's disappearance.

I can see why Drew Peterson and Cindy Anthony and others become targets for cable and the forums--they know way more than they are saying. But Misti is a kid, really, and not a highly educated or sophisticated one. If it turns out that she killed Haleigh or sold her or left her alone, then let the condemnation begin. Meanwhile, making moral judgments about these people doesn't do one thing to find Haleigh.

All due respect - had Marc, Ed, or Reve''s stories shown irregularities, had others come forward making claims (i.e., not actually home at the time of abduction...), if they had had repeated previous encounters with LE (i.e,.criminal history), illegal drug use, or family and friends with SO records...views and opinions would have changed and they too would have been further scrutinized. That wasn't the case and therefore the "view" would naturally be different because the "spot" that they were standing in was completely different than in this case. I don't know 100% if RC and/or MC are involved but I will continue to take all information into account regarding any possible suspects! JMHO

I really have a huge issue with this whole wedding thing. What a memory to tell Jr. (or any other kids they might have) someday when he gets older and asks how they met and got engaged; "Well son, I remember it very well, it was just about a month following your sister's abduction..." :furious:Real memorable huh!?

Can these people not take responsibility for their own decisions!? We've all made decisions in our lives that others may not have agreed with - I know I have - BUT if I made the decision I owned it, not my kids, not anyone else. At least have the guts to say "We realize that alot of people may not agree with our decision at this time but it is our decision and we feel that it is appropriate for us in our situation," rather than placing it upon a poor child that isn't even here to speak for herself! Wonder how much their ($#@*&^%$) wedding pics will go for ($$)?

ITA! As for these "breakdowns" and explanations that that is why he seems out of it, slurred speech, odd behavior, I'm sorry, but I'm guessing that's more of the reefer talking. If he was having constant breakdowns, how would he have the clarity of mind and planning ability to get a ring, go to a restaurant, propose on bended knee in front of an audience, go to a court house to get legal marriage documents? None of this makes any sense. And I for one am just about over all this.

It's a shame for the poor child; her family's nonsense got her into this mess, but it's sure as heck not going to get her out of it.

Yeah, normally when people go through a deep depression and/or "breakdown" they often don't even have the energy to get out of bed. Planning a wedding would be the last thing on their mind. imo.

With Ron's written permission Misty'd be able to check the kids out of school and such, but legally she'd have no say regarding anything.

If something happened to Ron the kids would go back to Crystal, unless she was deemed unfit by the courts. Then they'd go to a grandma, or whoever else the courts found most fit.

THE BIG DIFFERENCE that glares out from these other cases is that there was EVIDENCE to support the claims of abduction made by these families. People at the store had seen Adam and knew he had been there and when. The Smart case had EVIDENCE of a forced entry point. I believe that there were witnesses to Polly's abduction.
IF Misty's story was the same from one minute to the next, IF the absolutely for sure locked door that was so hard to unlock and open showed ANY sign of forced entry, IF there was a footprint, hand print, hair, clothing fiber.....ANY small thing that showed that Misty's story even MIGHT be true...

YES! and imo, TN is passively/agressively slapping the mother CS in the face, backstabbing!!! by saying hurtful things like that in the media...its her little way of getting back at the other side.....because........because, they got nothing else to throw CS under the bus with! Respectfully, I have to disagree with this bolded statement. Misty will not have to have Ron's permission, she is legally Haleighs step mom once they are married.. by allowing her to get married, her parents have emancipated her...
My husband doesn't have to get my permission to check his step daughter out of school etc.
