I tend to think it has a lot to do with the custody issues surrounding Rj. They are doing everything to insure they have every advantage in keeping him where he is instead of letting some lawyer steal him away in the middle of this crisis. I could be wrong, but the timing fits with the lawyer showing up on the scene today.

Is Misty really 17? She looks 13/14 to me and I am stretching that. Has it been verified that she is 17?

As far as the mothers of R and M go, they say, "As long as the press was trashing them, I will give my go ahead for them to get married".... another family that refused brains and logic when the truck showed up for delivery.

How many 5 yr olds "continually" talk about the marriage of their parents and their boyfriends/girlfriends? If anything they want their biological parents to be together.

If Misty's mom is using them being trashed as reason to give in & sign the papers...well thats kinda like the 16 yr old kid who wants an ak47 cause all his best buds have them and because they are his best buds, EVERONE is talking anyway about how bad azz this boy is cause he also owns this gun. So, mom, might as give in, get little Billy that ak47, after all he is already gettin a bad rap from the pta moms.
No, I am not comparing getting married with a 16 yr having an ak47. I am talking about making our kids learn the word NO NO NO and making it come out OUR mouths. Whats with the crap of giving in to your kids??? I just cant imagine saying to my daughter, yes honey, its okay you drop out of schoo, you dont need to edumacting, yes honey, its perfectly fine you shack up, sex fer housing is a fair trade I reckon. yes honey its okay you look atfer to young kids, its not like your gettn any edumaction or gettn a job. You will have fun playing "dress up like a bride" with that sweet little girl. Sure honey, you go on and marry that man, plenty of women married to men with three babies to support that dont work no job, seems to be okay, thats why we got the welfare system. Now remember, we will fix that tent up real nice for your wedding nite since you all aint got no home and you aint go no jobs. Well like you young folks like you say, we can live on love. I will try to figure out how biscuts it takes to spell out live on love, hope thats enough for your belly, dont ferget, make sure you stay barefoot and pregnant.
Yepper, thats just what most of us would have said to our teen daughter when she is about to make a huge mistake.

I totally agree and that's why I have been wondering about these parents of Ron and Misty. What kind of parenting have they had?

Thank you. It's been depressing to see how many adults think that a child's requests means the person would be a good parent. :waitasec: Out of two people myself and my own children adored and loved to stay with the most, one was a pedophile and the other BP.

Parenting requires good judgment and the maturity to do what is in the child's best interest, even when it's no fun at all.

These children will be teens in the blink of an eye, and being a good role model for them should be important to consider.

I can only speak for myself here, but when I speak of Haleigh and Jr loving Misty so much they would love her to be their Mom, I'm not necessarily saying Misty would be the best parent for them. She is way too young to be taking on that kind of responsibility IMO...However, I have seen way too many posts putting the blame on this girl...yes she is only a 17 year old who was doing the best that she could do or knew how to do in her 17 year old mind. I do not for one minute believe Misty hurt Haleigh or had anything to do with her disappearance. Misty is in that household taking care of the children because of adults...the father of those children made the decision to place her there, and her parents allowed it. An adult made the decision to place another child in the care of his children...if we are dead bent on placing blame on anyone, at least place it where it belongs. Blame the adults that placed or allowed Misty into the situation, and the perp who had the audacity to go inside the home and take Haleigh. JMHO

I blame the whole situation and whomever allowed it to happen from the git go now. Ron is top of the list of whom to blame for Haleigh missing now. You can add in Haleigh's real mom to this list too. Sorry but his long back ground of love affairs with women under 17 just puts him there. He is 26 yrs old and has 3 children now. He never married any of these kids mothers now. He just seems very lacking in responsibility for his kids now.

Yes he was working, ..had a home for 2 of his kids but to add into the mix a 16 yr old gf aka Misty was just wrong now, and yes I know she is 17 now but she just turned 17 in December 2008, bringing Misty was just totally wrong to his household now. Misty started living there in November of 2008. If he wanted to prove he was a good parent why not have his own mother or another older family member take care of his kids while he worked now, not bring in a 16 yr old to this so called happy home life now. That's adding fuel to the fire.

If you wish to jump me go ahead but the top person to place blame is Ron now. Second is Misty and her parents allowing her to live there and be with Ron along with Haleigh's real mom. The whole situation between both sets of families in this situation is rotten too the core now. The bad thing is we see this happening day in day out with too many young adults(kids) now that think having children is fun ...ohh look Hollywood types do it why can't we now...having kids is not a toy you can pick up and play with then when your tired of it throw it away this is real life now.

This glorify that having a baby before your educated or finished school has to stop now before another helpless child is killed.

By marrying his child bride, will Ron be off the hook for any charges brought against him for statutory rape of Misty??

The only thing that I hope for in this case is that Haleigh is found (and dear god I hope alive) and that WHOEVER is responsible is prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Could care less how their wedding goes, GG!

The proposal.

About the proposal....on HLN...the JVM show....reporter saying she talked with TN today and she told reporter that Ron and Misty decided to do this now because "it makes them happy". Also...this is something Jr. wants. Talked about it all the time and still talks about it.

It makes me sad, and reminds me of Drew Peterson. Does the husband/wife testifying against each other rule ring true because they're married.

He doesn't work - who paid for that lovely ring. Me and DH were poor and I didn't get a wedding/engagement ring until our 10 year anniversary. There were other priorities in order that we needed to take care of. None being finding a missing child. Besides, love doesn't revolve around diamonds (IMHO).

It's what Haleigh would have wanted -- they know (IMHO) she's dead. She's the 17 year old babysitter who slept in another room - it doesn't even sound like RC slept with her.

Not buying the JR story -- he's how old?

There are SO many things that are bothering me about this, but I'll leave it at this for now.

Take care.

I said it before this marriage is being done on the thought it might protect them from testify against each other if it comes to light either of them had any involvement in what happen to Haleigh now, but as its been stated they can be forced to testify against each other with the law as it is written now cause this case involves a child of one of them aka Ron's child. That is just my opinion now on this marriage.

  • #334
Sorry - so romantic. Proposing to her at Chili's? I think (IMHO) he has a motive behind this action, but can't put my finger on it just yet. Will this bring HC back, will it make him happy, will it make JR happy. Not preaching, just teaching - but if it were my missing child, the last thing I would be is on one knee.

Me either Mel, me either...

I had to come out from lurking on this one. I just can not get over this. It does not seem right. IMO

OK, so they are soooo gung ho about getting married because "it's what Haleigh wanted", right?

This is what bothers me...

Have they even thought about how it would make Haleigh feel to find out that they got married without her being there and/or during her abduction? If she comes home, more than likely she will be very distraut just from the abduction and whatever she had to endure during that time...and on top of all that, they'll tell her they got married without her? That's pretty cruel and selfish, if ya ask me.

Sweetie, while you were missing...we took time out from searching for you so we could get married. Here's some pictures of happy occasion...pics of the birthday party/engagment, here's a video of your step mom acting all giddy outside the courthouse AND here's pics of the wedding 3 days later. Oh yea, even though you couldn't be at the wedding, we told the press that they were more than welcome to be there & to wait for us outside the church.

Whatever.

I'm sorry...if I was in Haleigh's shoes & my Dad did anything like this to me, I would be crushed and heartbroken...especially if it was something that I really wanted and talked about all the time. And I don't care if they do have a ceremony just for Haleigh when she gets back, that ceremony is not the same because their marriage license will have March 12, 2009 on it...a day when she was still missing. She may not understand that now but she will when she gets a little older.

They are going to do what they want. I don't agree with it and I think its wrong on soooo many levels at this time but IMO, they could've at least tried to keep it quiet and private.

I think they are getting hitched because bio-mom has lawyered up and from the sound of her attorney on NG last night, there might be a possible custody battle down the road. Ron and Misty are 'cleaning up their act' IMHO. Just 'looks better' when you are married....ya know?

The way MC and TN talk about the children wanting Misty as their mother fits nicely in with this scenario.

Marriage is no longer viewed in the eyes of the court as "redeeming" in terms of which parent is given primary custody of the child(ren). As I explained in an earlier post many years ago I went through a legal custody situation involving my two sons and I was a single mother. My ex married too to make it appear to the court that he could provide a better home. The court saw right through it as they will RC and MC's marriage. The only redeeming act that RC should have done in the interest of his children is end a relationship that should have never begun in the first place. The court would see that as a positive step, not marrying the sixteen year old babysitter!(now 17) If that is R & M's logic, they are in for a very rude awakening and I'd love to have a front row seat in the courtroom for that one. Of course I'd probably get escorted out by a courtroom officer as I wouldn't be able to stop ROTFLMAO...

Maybe you are right! (Been trying so hard to think of a 'sensible' - and I use that word cautiously in this situation - reason why they have chosen to do this!)
