Rosie Bids Adieu to "The View" (maybe 4/25/07)

While I don't always agree with her views I do enjoy her honesty and all she does for children and many other charities. I wish Rosie and her family well.

Wow she sure didnt last long on The View... I loved her on the Rosie show I wish she just stayed that way the way she was and kept that show...She changed she isnt the same Rosie she once was.

I read a lot of her comments and watched the videos on her blog last night, and it sounded like she wanted more family time. IMO

I still can't get over her using the F word at a luncheon where there were 17yr old kids. Yeah, yeah, I know they probably use it too, but still!

We'll probably know in about 30 minutes as the show starts at 11 est here.

Unfortunately this means we are going to have to see The Donald's face all over tonight because you know everyone will want his comment about the situation. He'll take credit for her leaving, I'm sure.

Rosie O'Donnell just released the following statement about her departure from The View:
"This has been an amazing experience, and one I wouldn't have traded for the world. Working with Barbara, Joy and Elisabeth has been one of the highlights of my career, but my needs for the future just didn't dovetail with what ABC was able to offer me. To all the viewers out there, I just want to say 'thank you' for opening up your hearts and your homes to me this past year. But you can always find me at rosie.com. Here's hoping there's more confetti for all of us going forward."
In other words, they probably didn't pony up enough money.
Barbara claims that the split was amicable.
O'Donnell's stint on the view will come to an end mid-June.

I got the impression that Rosie was only willing to commit for one more year and ABC wanted her to commit to 3 more years. Also, she says she will be guest hosting on the View and will be doing specials on autism and depression, etc.

Here's what TMZ says, which seems to confirm what I heard Rosie say in the opening of today's View:

Rosie O'Donnell said: "Breaking News. I've decided we couldn't come to terms with my deal." Rosie wanted one year and she (sic: I think they meant ABC) wanted three years. She says she'll be on frequently next season but won't be a regular.

This has nothing to do with Rosie leaving but is Elisabeth pregnant again? Jussssst curious?!!!

I sincerely could care less what the reason is she is leaving....
I quit watching it after she came on.
I watched the View everyday until she came on & have missed it!

She is overbearing & I also feel sorry for the horse!! LOL :slap:

What's sad is Rosie used to be good... now, she's rude, insulting, degrading and ridiculous, then uses the excuse, "I'm a commedian... I can say anything I want." She's a loser... and any show she appears on, won't be watched by me!
--well said--I concur

Ok, so she's leaving, but does Fox News have to flash ALERT on the screen about it?

There was a time, long ago, that I thought she was a really kind and sweet person. But over the past couple of years she has spouted off on so much and in some instances I'm sure her rampages have dug up painful memories for for example 9/11 families and others. Yes, everyone is entitled to an opinion and there is freedom of speech, but I believe with that freedom should also be the great burden of being sure you don't needlessly/thoughtlessly hurt people in the process.

Rosie definitely does some good and positive things, but basically I find myself thinking "Would you just shut the H up!?"

I couldn't have said it better, Malapoo  I use to like Rosie.. now I don't. Her so called "freedom of speech" caused me to not like her anymore.. her speech is negative, nothing positve, stirring up trouble somewhere with someone, she is just like the the ones she bad mouths.. Yup, I don't like her... AND I'm beginning to not like a lot of Hollywood these days.. A lot of BIG egos out there...

Good for The View. I think that Rosie appears to be an angry bitter person. Always on the defensive. People that are so negative all the time do not do much for me.

I for one am glad she is gone. She was just too negative for the show. I would love to see Megan M from Will and Grace or Patricia Heaton replace her!

"So called" freedom of speech. Can you explain how we have "so called" freedom of speech. Last I heard that was a right we had in this country. I guess everyone can now watch and the highlights will be Elizabeth's recap on The Bachelor or American Idol. Gotta have our priorities!

Bye Bye Rosie, now bring on someone else like Valerie Bertanelli. I liked when she was on, she is down to earth. Rosie is too dag on loud and abrasive.

Yippeeeee! I loved Rosie before she interviewed my man Tom Selleck. Since then, her true colors are blinding. She is obnoxious and I can't stand watching her. I'm glad I will be able to watch The View some now.

She does have freedom of speech and can say anything she wants. I don't have to listen though.

I've always loved Valerie and thinks she's a beautiful person inside and out. She was very refreshing to watch.

Personally, I enjoy watching Rosie on the View. Do I ALWAYS agree with her opinions? NO.. But I don't have to. I think she has made it ok for women to talk about controversial subjects. Before, all womens talk shows are about tv, fashion, etc. With her gone, it will be up to Ms. Boring Uber-Conservative Hasselbeck to give daily TV updates... God forbid we talk about Politics or Religion.. The Bachelor seems much more important.

Same here. I love it when people are straight up and honest and not afraid to express their opinions, but I don't like abrasiveness. So with Rosie, sometimes I love her and sometimes she gets on my nerves.

Her current apparent support of Alec Baldwin p*sses me right off. I read he's gonna be on the show on Friday... that should be interesting.

Anyway, I never watched The View at all till Rosie came on and I doubt I'll watch after she leaves. Love her or hate her, she makes things interesting.
