There, huge crowds gathered to witness the newly-married Princess arrive with her grandmother, Queen Mary. The Princess was photographed studying the stone as Queen Mary and Chopra looked on.

However, Queen Mary was not happy. “She was visibly upset because she was not the one being given the diamond,” according to Chopra. “She turned to my grandfather and asked: ‘Where’s mine?’

Many contemporary accounts, including an essay about the Cartier exhibition on the V&A’s website, have wrongly declared that the Williamson brooch belongs to the Royal Collection.

In fact, the brooch remained throughout the Queen’s life in her own private collection and was inherited on her death by the King.

Thank you for posting this.

It is a fascinating and stunning piece with that incredible pink diamond of international fame and acclaim.

It is of incredible value. I wonder if we will ever see it worn again.

Camilla has worn it on a few occasions so that is good!

Oh that makes me very happy.

However I would think a pink background would not show this dazzling gem off to it's best advantage.

Perhaps white or even black might be more strategic. I just think that involving any pink or lavender background just denies the glorious color of the centerpiece jewel.

How lovely to see that wonderful smiling face. I miss her presence in this world tremendously, but I am also relieved she is free from pain and infirmity.

Brazilian Aquamarine Tiara

The Brazilian Aquamarine Tiara began life as a necklace and pendant earrings—a Coronation gift to the Queen from the Brazilian President.

In 1957, the Queen approached Garrard with a special request: to create a tiara that complemented the aquamarine necklace and pendant, creating a suite of jewels that she could wear together.

I've always felt as if the Aquamarine Necklace and Earrings were difficult for the late Queen Elizabeth to wear, due to the large size of the stones, their bold cut, and the overall bulk of the necklace.

Reportedly, the late Queen Elizabeth loved the Demi-Parure (the dangling part of the necklace ) so much she approached Garrard jewelers to recreate this motif for the tiara.

I can fully understand why, and I think this tiara is a great success.

It's really something. To me it has an Art Deco vibe to it. This would do well on a tall statuesque woman. It's a strong piece.

The official gift to Queen Camilla from the First Lady of the United States of America.

A reminder of the description -

The US couple chose to present Queen Camilla with a Tiffany & Co. vintage 18K gold, diamond & ruby flower brooch.

Showcasing an American company, they said this gift “honoured the idea of diplomacy; conveying messages of friendship, respect, and a commemoration of this historic visit.”

The design of the brooch incorporates both The Queen’s birthstone, rubies, as well as the First Lady’s birthstone, diamonds.
