Poland has agreed to provide Americans with free accommodation, meals, determined once a year cost of fuel, warehouses and infrastructure service.

That is what I remember reading about the base which is to defend Europe against medium-range (1,000-3,000 km) and intermediate-range (3,000-5,500 km) missiles.
And I also think part of the deal was to buy Lockheed Martin jets. So not only is Poland deeply in debt paying NATO they will also be hosting hundreds of Americans and buying jets with money they don't have. I wonder who got the contracts to build all this stuff?

The linked article is behind a paywall for me. Does it say that Poland is going bankrupt because of defense spending?

It does cost money. I just wonder where Poland got the money from since the beginning of their entry into NATO they consistently paid less than the 2% that Trump was complaining about yet in about the year 2017 after US said they'd build a missile base in Poland their payments skyrocketed. It seems like they went into massive debt to pay for this missile base.
It's part of an advance missile defense system, to protect European countries. NATO

The new base, which is part of a broader anti-missile shield intended to protect the US and Europe from ballistic missiles, is located in Redzikowo, near Poland’s northern Baltic coast.

Plans for the installation were initiated in the first decade of this century under US President George W. Bush, then confirmed by President Barack Obama. Construction finally began in 2016.

The base – along with another in Romania – is part of NATO’s Aegis Ashore system, which will protect against medium-range and intermediate-range missiles.

Russia has long raised concerns about the system, but NATO has insisted it is a purely defensive measure and intended to defend against missiles fired from the Middle East.

Technical Difficulties

The Congress of the United States has approved $288.6 Million in Foreign Military Financing for Poland. This funding, announced by Secretary Blinken in Kyiv September 8 and making Poland one of the largest recipients of Foreign Military Assistance outside of Ukraine, is intended to build the capacity of Poland to deter and defend against the increased threat from Russia.

Poland has delivered extraordinary support to Ukraine in the face of Russia’s further invasion. These funds will speed the backfill of capabilities Poland has been able to provide from its own stocks to add to Ukraine’s defense, including main battle Tanks. We continue to encourage countries to donate urgently needed capabilities to Ukraine, as well as to begin contracting defense companies to get a jump start on producing further capabilities for Ukraine as soon as possible.

This financing is part of a comprehensive package, announced on September 8, of Foreign Military Financing to bolster the security of Ukraine and 17of its neighbors, including Poland, which are potentially at risk of future Russian aggression.

That sure does muddy the waters on how much the US has spent on this war. Countries give military aid to Ukraine and the US gives those donors money to cover it.

I wonder what the total amount of this back door aid the US has spent? JMO.

I'm still reeling that Trump said that Ukraine started the war. That's a slap in the face of reality. Blaming the victim.
How many cases do we follow here where we defend the victim, not blame them?
We all need to stand up for humanity....not bullies.

I wonder why Zelenskyy doesn't want to negotiate an end to this war?
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his country would not accept any outcome from the talks since Kyiv didn’t take part and he postponed his own trip to Saudi Arabia scheduled for last Wednesday.

Zelenskyy needs to put his personal feelings aside and do whats best for his country. JMO.

Trump added that peace talks are the only way to stop more deaths in the war, telling the governors, “Millions of people are killed. I think, far more people than anyone understands. And we have people that better get to the table, get it ended. Should have never happened.”
I agree with President Trump. JMO.

I agree with President Trump. JMO.

Do you agree with Trump that Ukraine started the war?
I'm curious.

I agree with President Trump. JMO.

How can Zelensky negotiate when Ukraine wasn't even invited to the bs "peace talks"?

Tell Putin that because his Russian imperialist views are threatening Europe and risking further sanctions on his own people.

I agree with this statement he made yesterday.
U.S. President Donald Trump admitted on Feb. 21 that Russia launched the full-scale war by attacking Ukraine.

He could have tried a long time ago on his own.

Instead he has continued this senseless war of attrition that will only lead to further death and destruction for his own people. JMO

So you agree that he lied when he said that Ukraine started the war.
Of course he got called out.
He's sucking up to Putin of all people! Shameful.
I think he may have misspoke.

I also think that President Trump is doing a wonderful job in trying to end this senseless war. JMO.

So if the US is invaded, they should just lie down to the invader? Is that what you are saying? We should give up to bullies?
I'm pretty sure the Ukrainians believe the war is senseless, but senseless from the Russian stance. Why shouldn't a sovereign nation stand up for themselves? Why shouldn't the democratic world stand with them?

I'm asking as a Canadian, whose friendly nation is being targeted by your so-called president.
Bullying is not acceptable. Do you believe it is?

From my country's MSM

"Musk Responds to Media Reports on Ukraine:

'It's Not True'.

View attachment 565787

Elon Musk claims that
Reuters is lying about Starlinks for Ukraine. -

'That's not true' -
he wrote on the X service.

Earlier, Reuters reported that the US threatened Ukraine with access to the system.

'This is not true.
Reuters is lying'.

Starlink,
Elon Musk's satellite system,
plays a key role in providing Ukraine with internet connectivity,
which is especially important in the context of the ongoing conflict with Russia."

Reuters says it stands by its reporting, despite Musk's denial. Reuters received the information from three different sources. I'd say Reuters obviously takes these as good and credible sources - there is no wavering in their reporting.

Poland actually pays for Ukraine's Starlink connections, and Poland's deputy prime minister said on Saturday that it will continue to do so.

Putin still invaded. All the blame lies with him.

I think he may have misspoke.

No he didn't misspeak. Putin's Puppet (argue with the wall) spouted bs and expected everybody to agree with him.

<modsnip>

I do, as an American with a Canadian born father, hope that President Trump is successful in helping to stop the carnage that is taking place in Ukraine. JMO.

I agree that the war is senseless. Russia should never have invaded and they should be punished for that.

I also don't agree that Trump misspoke. He said that Ukraine could have ended the war 3 year ago. Well that was when they were invaded. Should they have just lied down and given in to the invader?
Would you expect the USA to do that if they were invaded? Should the US have just given up after Pearl Harbor?

I believe in democratic and sovereign nations. We should all stand up for them. Is there someone here who doesn't agree with that?

"Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday praised the UK for showing “leadership” on the war with Russia after the British prime minister, Keir Starmer, pledged his “ironclad support” for Kyiv in a phone call.

Starmer and the EU chief Ursula von der Leyen discussed “the need to secure a just and enduring peace in Ukraine” in a call on Saturday

London will unveil a significant package of sanctions against Russia on Monday, according to the UK foreign secretary, David Lammy, who said it was “time to turn the screws on Putin’s Russia".

Volodymyr Zelenskyy was “not ready” to sign a deal that would give the US preferential access to his country’s critical minerals, a Ukrainian source told AFP."
