Yes. I was thinking AH making his best scientists run for the Los Alamos hills kind of slowed European nuclear weapon manufacturing down.
That was for the best, obviously, but also the start of disarming the parts of Europe that were tainted by the nazis.

I had a good and productive meeting with Spain’s Prime Minister @sanchezcastejon.
Our discussion focused on joint efforts to achieve real peace, security guarantees, defense needs, and cooperation with Spanish companies in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
I thank the people of Spain and the government for providing a new military aid package—1 billion euros this year—which includes exactly what we need to strengthen the front line: armored vehicles, missiles, and shells. We are also preparing to open the “Unity Center” to support Ukrainians in Spain, and we are working on signing the relevant agreement.

The US is strong and the Ukraine is not. Not comparable at all. <modsnip> I do want the war to stop so that the killing and destruction will end.
President Trump is trying to stop World War III. Zelenskyy is pushing the world toward it. JMO.

I totally agree and I think many other Americans do as well. I have family and friends children and grandchildren stationed in Europe. I also have friends and family who return from the war in Afghanistan. The injuries, the loss of limb, the PTDS impacts the entire family. A young person's life is changed forever. I have a dear friend, her fiance was killed on his birthday in Afghanistan, I don't want to go through that again. I have a cousin's son, a Navy SEAL killed in Afghanistan. It's so very painful, the day-to-day worrying, constant prayers, and the loss of life.
Please thank your son for his service to our country. I will be forever grateful. Because of our fine soldiers, we do have freedom in America. I don't think that for granted.

I met with parliamentarians from the global parliamentary network of support for Ukraine. This is important. We have built diplomatic contacts at all levels—from leaders and parliaments to the media and many public organizations.
All of this is to withstand this war and to end it with dignity—exactly as our people, the Ukrainian nation, deserve. A nation that fights so bravely earns respect. And that respect turns into concrete steps of support from our partners.

I shared the details of yesterday’s meeting with the leaders of the Nordic-Baltic countries in Kyiv. Achieving a just peace requires the voice of every country in our part of the world. We are working on a common position and reliable security guarantees.
We also coordinated our plans and upcoming contacts in various formats. The peace we strive for must ensure that future generations in Ukraine and all of Europe are protected from Russian aggression.

Today is a day of bravery and integrity of all those who did not turn a blind eye to Russia's occupation of our Crimea. On these days, 11 years ago, Russian aggression against Ukraine began with the illegal, treacherous seizure of Crimea.
But February 26 proved that there would be resistance – resistance from Crimea, resistance from all of Ukraine. This day showed that there were and would be people who would reject lies and refuse to surrender their home. The years following Crimea’s occupation brought much sorrow and cynicism. Many in the world were unwilling to fully understand what was really happening. Yet, we managed to bring the issue of Crimea’s liberation back onto the global agenda. We established the Crimea Platform. We do not let Russia "normalize" its occupation. We liberate Crimean prisoners from captivity. We continue our struggle for the right to a normal life, for security guarantees, and for lasting peace for all of Ukraine.
Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and security are not – and will never be – up for compromise. The day of resistance in our Crimea is a day of respect for truth and for Ukraine. I am grateful to everyone who stands with us.
I spoke with Portugal’s Prime Minister @LMontenegropm and thanked him for all the military assistance provided and for readiness to continue support this year. We deeply appreciate that, in such challenging times, Portugal stands with Ukraine.
A just peace with reliable security guarantees for Ukraine and all of Europe is our shared priority. We discussed our position on ending the war, as well as unity and coordination with all our European partners.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet the King on Sunday as part of his visit to the UK.
He is due to speak to King Charles on the same day as Keir Starmer’s defence summit of European leaders in London.
It will take place at Sandringham, The Sun newspaper reported.
At Downing Street on Saturday, Zelenskyy said: “I’m very happy that His Majesty the King accepted my meeting tomorrow.”

As stated, they've asked the US, in the event of a Russian invasion, the US provide air cover and intelligence. We probably have the best intel system of all the EU members. Just a guess, but I assume all EU allies will contribute to air cover, with different countries alternating. It sounds like European allies will handle the heavy work of helping Ukraine defend itself on the ground, though I don't know the details. Just guessing.
EU countries have already been providing similar assistance so far, though, as NATO members, participation is limited to providing arms, equipment, etc. to Ukraine.

We also talked about security guarantees and cooperation on Ukraine’s path to the EU. We are grateful to Ireland for standing with us in all of these areas.
We also addressed Ireland’s participation in the Demining Coalition and EU training missions, as well as non-lethal security assistance that will help save lives. Additionally, we discussed our humanitarian initiative, Food from Ukraine, and how Ireland can contribute.
