I am actually wondering why Uk newspapers are publishing reports from Moscow, which are dubious as to correctness IMO. MOO

If they have to, to be balanced, then they should temper those reports with the reports from Ukraine. JMO

"Senior Ukrainian negotiator posts 'handshake' as update on US-Ukraine talks

In a very 2025 development, Yermak just posted a further update: two pictures of both Ukrainian and US delegations in Jeddah with an emoji of a handshake.

What does he mean? Could this be the US-Ukraine minerals deal done? Let’s see.

*Suspicious side-eye emoji*

We will bring you more if and when the two sides choose to use words instead of emoji."

"European Union countries must purchase military equipment made in Europe under a new loan program meant to help the continent provide for its own security, a top EU official said Tuesday, even though most of its defense materiel currently comes from U.S. suppliers."

US-Ukraine talks going 'OK,' Ukrainian official says

In another cryptic update, via AFP, we are now hearing that talks between US and Ukrainian delegations in Saudi Arabia are going “OK”.

“The talks are going OK, a lot of questions have been discussed,” a senior Ukrainian official, who requested anonymity, told AFP of the first high-level talks between Kyiv and Washington since Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy clashed with Donald Trump during an Oval Office meeting last month.

"The owners of the Solong say it was not carrying sodium cyanide, as previously reported, but had four empty containers that had once held the toxic chemical"

""I understand there doesn't appear to be any suggestions of foul play at this time," the Downing Street spokesperson says about the collision of the two vessels in the North Sea on Monday."

The DM can be a bit over the top IMO. I don't think it's likely a Portuguese ship was hacked by Russians! It may have been foggy. The DM article mentioned rescue boats were hampered by fog. Hull is a very busy seaport. JMO

..... Now, there were reports of fog earlier, but modern ships have anti-collision systems. They have radar and so on. The Stena ship could have done very little about it. It couldn't have moved away because it was at anchor. It wouldn't have had time to respond by the time it got its engines warmed up and everything else. But the Solong should have avoided it and it would be down to incompetence on behalf of Solong. There is no reason why, in the 21st century, two ships should collide."

I'm a bit further up the north east coast just outside Newcastle and it was foggy here at the time this happened so most likely will have been there as well.

Ukrainian officials told The Associated Press on Monday that they will propose a ceasefire covering the Black Sea, which would bring safer shipping, as well as long-range missile strikes that have hit civilians in Ukraine, and the release of prisoners.
(…)
“I’m not going to set any conditions on what they have to or need to do,” Rubio told reporters accompanying him. “I think we want to listen to see how far they’re willing to go and then compare that to what the Russians want and see how far apart we truly are.”

Rubio said the rare earths and critical minerals deal could be signed during the meeting, but he stressed it was not a precondition for the United States to move ahead with discussions with either Ukraine or the Russians.

Senator Schiff responds to Trump accusations on MSNBC

"Donald Trump only has himself to blame for his cowardice. Like a lot of bullies, at their core, they are really afraid, and for whatever reason, Donald Trump is afraid of Putin and caters to Putin, wants to emulate Putin, but no I don't think he can foist off his Russian (?) file (?) nature on me....between the two of these people, Donald Trump and Elon Musk, they have betrayed an ally at war. What they have done with Ukraine has been just shameful.... this President who claims he is the great architect of the art of the deal has been sabotaging Ukraine in advance of any peace negotiations.....

And we're supposed to believe, as Donald Trump just said in that interview, that no-one's ever been tougher on Russia? Does he think the whole country is stupid?

If, as a result of his actions, Ukraine should lose this war, it will be Donald Trump who lost the war in Ukraine and he will go down in history as the one who lost the war for one of our allies and I hope and pray that does not happen."

There's more

Two options imo, either accept the Russians aren't likely to give concessions or keep fighting drawing ever closer to a wider conflict, not hard to envisage is it.

"The cause of the collision remains unknown.

On Tuesday, a 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter in connection with the collision.

Detective Chief Superintendent Craig Nicholson of Humberside Police said the force has launched a criminal investigation, adding that "extensive work" has already been carried out.

He said: "Following inquiries undertaken by my team, we have arrested a 59-year-old man on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter in connection with the collision, this follows the conclusion of search operations by HM Coastguard for the missing crew member of the Solong."

There aren't two options there.

Your sentence is merely a statement of fact.

I think there needs to be a distinction between "British Press" and "British tabloid newspapers" (like the Sun, Mirror, Express and DM). JMO Also they were reporting what the White House said ......MOO

The BBC, Telegraph, Times, Independent and Guardian are also British press, but not "tabloids". JMO

Musk is saying...get ready for it...it's IP addresses in Ukraine that did it, the "terrorist" attack on X. Still trying to figure out how that qualifies as a "terrorist" attack. Could be true. If so I say...do it again! If it's Russia doing it and making it look like it's Ukraine I say...do it again!! Either way maybe it will distract Musk enough that he'll leave the VA, FAA, CDC and Medicare alone for a hot minute.
Of course it is, considering Russia has 20% of Ukraine under his control.

tbh all that means is next time Russians go in and the same thing will happen - why should that happen?

Btw should they eventually take Ukraine over some years ( if they keep going back in and can take areas they illegally get) do you seriously think Poland will just give in?considering they are part of Nato? So either way unless Russia is stopped it will draw closer to a wider conflict.
