Oh I so loved that he said that. Rose above them. 'class act' always.
(And yes, “suit” literally is «костюм», which is pronounced like “costume”, as the article states)
Some of us (like me) assumed that Zelenskyy was using “costume” as a subtle insult of the costume/suit the reporter was wearing to cover up what a jerk he was. After all, Zelenskyy was a professional comedian. :)

Hope for Ukraine .... a semi trailer brings US humanitarian aid to Ukraine today, all privately funded.

I think there are more US citizens who support Ukraine than people realise, due to the public rhetoric and adverse actions going on from their leader.

Hope for Ukraine

About a sense of humor. I loved Zelenskyy's retort to that overbearing White House reporter from Real Amerika's Voice:

"Why don't you wear a suit?" Glenn asked. "You're at the highest level in this country's office, and you refuse to wear a suit.
"Do you own a suit?" he continued. "A lot of Americans have problems with you not respecting the dignity of this office."

"I will wear costume after this war will finish," Zelensky replied. (The word "suit" can be translated into Ukrainian as "kostyum".)
"Maybe something like yours, yes. Maybe something better, I don't know," he said, to laughter in the room. "Maybe something cheaper."
Funny; I watched the full meeting in 53 minute form.

I never even thought about Zelinskyy's use of the word 'costume'; didn't even really notice it. It went completely over my head until it's brought up here.

Perhaps because I also speak french, as a lot of us Canadians do, so my head recognizes "costume" as a suit. Costume also happens to be the french word for 'suit'. And I live in a small village here in New Brunswick in the heart of Acadie. French - all around, all the time. :)

I genuinely have no idea how this man has survived the last few years.
One of my Ukrainian friends and I (I’m not Ukrainian; I’m American but have many family ties to Europe, which in this context notably includes Poland) joke that we don’t know how anyone in our family trees have made it this far, but we assume there must be some incredibly strong will in our DNA somewhere and as we’re the rightful heiresses of that, we must be able to find that Stronger Stuff in ourselves, too. Staying alive just to make bad people angry can be its own reward sometimes. 🩷💔
To spite them. Yes.

I've never heard a suit called a costume, unless it's something like a dracula suit.
I'm from French descent but don't speak the language.
I wish he had left it at that he might wear a better suit than his rude ill mannered questioner.

lol @ the Ukraine omg my baba would get so mad over that . When people talk about Zelenskyy and the eye roll and facial expression that's something I don't think he can control lol most of the family I have especially me you can read our feelings on our face lol can't help that
I don't even think he was rolling his eyes. It was part of a greater facial display of mulling over what the person was saying to him, kinda nodding his head at the same time. Like when some one says, "I can't eat that, I hate it! " And someone else says, "oh just try it, it's not gonna kill ya." So they try it, savoring it and do the same slight sideways nod and a bit of eyebrow lift. "Meh, I guess it's okay."

"Heil Trump! Heil Putin! Heil Musk! Heil Meloni! Heil Le Pen!

"In Paris on March 8, Femen activists performed the Nazi salute, protesting, as they claimed, against the presidents of the U.S. and Russia, as well as the Italian prime minister.

Topless feminists shouted "Heil Trump, Heil Putin, Heil Musk, Heil Meloni, Heil Le Pen" while raising their arms in Nazi salute. Some of them had swastikas painted on their chests, along with the flags of Russia, the U.S., and European countries.

Kremlin propagandist on Russian state TV: “We support everything Trump is doing. We love how he is behaving”

“These are the traditional values!”

Yup - which is why I said "with the right backup". Something has to change - or get Trump to change. JMO I hope there are more and more pro Ukraine demonstrations in the US and more pressure on Trump. MOO
Putin needs to be removed and the only way that will happen is if he dies. He has 60 foot long conference tables, for crying out loud, when meeting with his cabinet, just in case someone tries to kill him. He must be the most paranoid man on earth.

Tesla Takedown: Anti-Musk protesters have swarmed and shut down the Tesla dealer in Manhattan

On March 8, 2025, a significant protest unfolded at Tesla's Manhattan showroom in New York City. Hundreds of demonstrators gathered to voice their opposition to CEO Elon Musk's involvement in the Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Elon Musk's net worth has indeed experienced a significant decline due to Tesla's stock price drop. From its peak of $486 billion, his wealth has decreased to approximately $330 billion, marking a loss of $156 billion.

People are MAD at Elon.

These people did not even live through the hellacious years of Nazi occupation and extermination. As can be clearly seen by their relative youth.

Ukrainian partisans sabotage railway line in occupied Crimea, group claims.

The Atesh partisan group sabotaged a railway line linking parts of occupied Crimea with the front line in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, disrupting Russian supply lines, the group claimed via Telegram on March 9.

One of the ways Russia beat Germany during the advance into Russia in WW2 was their scorched earth policy. They burned everything so there was nothing for the German infantry to salvage. Many froze to death. I guess Ukraine could do the same to Crimea. Russia has been very successful in many of their wars but they always take the heaviest tolls of any army. They truly are cannon fodder.

A suit, and tie, for all practical matters is a costume. Just as a dress military uniform is a costume.

As history recedes what everyone wears, whether it's a male suit or a female dress becomes a costume to people in a later time.

" “Realistic proposals are on the table. The key is to move quickly and effectively,” the Ukrainian president said on X ahead of his trip to Saudi Arabia next week.

“On our side, we are fully committed to constructive dialogue, and we hope to discuss and agree on the necessary decisions and steps,” he said.

But the Ukrainian president also called for sanctions on Russia to be increased after a devastating attack on Saturday.

“Such strikes show that Russia’s objectives have not changed,” Zelenskyy wrote on Facebook. “Therefore, it is crucial to continue to do our best to protect lives, strengthen our air defences, and increase sanctions against Russia. Everything that helps Putin finance the war must collapse.” "

" There was an audible gasp in the room at the Council on Foreign Relations as Keith Kellogg, the White House’s special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, characterised the US decision to cut off intelligence sharing and military aid to Kyiv as like beating a farm animal with a piece of wood.

“Very candidly, they brought it on themselves, the Ukrainians,” Kellogg said as the veteran diplomats, academics, and journalists in the room recoiled in surprise. Several held their hands in their faces. “I think the best way I can describe it is sort of like hitting a mule with a two-by-four across the nose,” he continued. “You got their attention, and it’s very significant, obviously, because of the support that we give.” "
