I guess we'll see which direction the leadership of Ukraine chooses to go.
Well..depends how they try and blackmail him again I would imagine

  • #682
Not true IMO. If America are now outcasts it is because we have issues with your leadership after his abhorrent behaviour against Zelensky and that after betraying an ally with an enemy America or rather Trump can not be trusted. I certainly do not feel safe with him having secrets atm.
I think it's more that the US government is cutting itself off because it's aligned with Russia JMO

Well that too tbh but IMO Russia is using America for its own ends.

The leadership of Ukraine must maintain their position that Ukraine is a sovereign nation. If they do not, Russia will not rest with the conquest of only one nation that caved before them. Russia will continue their invasion of the nations around them. We've seen this before. We are not naive.

I feel sorry for the Ukrainian people as well. Maybe they should put pressure on their leadereship to work toward an end to the war. Otherwise the killing and destruction will continue.
They do want the war to end. But they also know it won't, if they give in. JMO. They want to push Putin back and have their country back.

I think it helps to put yourself in their shoes. They will feel as Britain did in WW2 probably.

Winston Churchill:

"never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty — never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."

"we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender,

Guess they didn't have very good sources.
Another individual associated with DJT who has problems with history - history of his own making. Here he is in September 2023 stating he refused to implement a request by Ukraine to turn off Starlink to aid in them attacking the Russian navy in Sevastopol because he feared he would be complicit in a major act of war and conflict escalation! Yet here he today, turning off Starlink to Ukraine seriously damaging their access to intel to protect themselves from assaults from Russia. Has he decided that the lives of Ukrainians aren't as valuable as those of Russians?

The Ukrainians do remind me of the British attitude actually.

No, Trump needs to lock in and either tell Putin to give up his imperialist conquest or send more aid.

  • #689
The US has a duty to protect Ukraine IMO. In some ways the US is responsible for Russia invading Uk - because they gave up their nuclear weapons and there was an agreement. Not to honour that is dishonourable. No excuses JMO

As would any nation under attack from a hostile enemy trying to invade them! JMO

If you believe you can make things happen. Why does everyone assume that because Russia is bigger, they will win? Remember the Armada!

Trump says Putin launching massive strike on Ukraine is ‘what anybody would do’

US president says he finds Russia easier to deal with than Ukraine after cutting off intelligence and weapons to Kyiv

Just look at what he has fostered...in one breath it's, oh we'll impose more sanctions on Russia by God and the next breath it's ehhh, Russia is only doing what anyone would do and then...I know a secret about Russia nobody else knows🤨Russia then pipes up in concern because the EU wants to beef up defenses. Can anbody say they shouldn't be thinking about more defensive measures in light of Putin and Trump's flip-flop ideas that bombing more is asking for peace? That it's a bad idea for the EU to be more vigilant in actions? I certainly cannot. I couldn't be more ashamed of my high-ranking government officials, they sicken me, body and soul. AJMO

Headline says "Say thank you Rubio tells Poland". So patronising! I know what I'd say! MOO
Elon Musk: “Starlink will never turn off for Ukraine”

SpaceX’s CEO insists Starlink will stay online in Ukraine, dismissing claims that the US considered using it as leverage.

Ukraine’s Defense Ministry has signed a memorandum with the German company Diehl Defence, the producer of IRIS-T air defense systems. The agreement aims to triple the supply of missiles and air defense systems.
It is a contradiction. I wonder if Musk is starting to notice the income he is losing in Teslas now not selling very well, the questions that are being raised about his competency with two SpaceX rockets exploding in less than two months, the people pulling out of Starlink subscriptions (like the province of Ontario)?

I know he is a billionaire, but billionaires typically become billionaires because they like the incoming flow of profit. It is a mindset.

imo
The newpaper seems to suggest it was the US government who threatened it, not Musk himself, who denied it at the time. And has now confirmed he's not cutting it off (even though the Ukrainians were expecting that to happen). Why would Poland announce they could source an alternative if there hadn't been a threat to cut it off?!! And if Poland spend 50 billion a year to keep it then yes - maybe it's about money. JMO

https://www.reuters.com/world/europ...lternative-musks-starlink-ukraine-2025-03-09/.
WARSAW, March 9 (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio accused Poland's foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski of "making things up" and suggested on Sunday he was ungrateful, in a strong rebuke after Sikorski said Ukraine may need an alternative to the Starlink satellite service.

There's even more to the story:

TODAY: Tweet 1 by Musk
TODAY: Tweet 2 by Poland's Radoslow Sikorski Responding to Musk
TODAY: Tweet 3 by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio

It's important to note that Marco Rubio is the current US Secretary of State.

Twitter is very busy pointing out to the Secretary of State that unlike what he implies in his tweet, Poland already shares a border with Russia via the Kaliningrad Oblast.

So, they've now also accused Poland of "just making things up". Poland. A NATO ally. A NATO ally that also happens to spend a higher percentage (4% in 2024 - & going up to 4.9% this 2025) of their GDP on NATO costs that the US (3.4%) does.

That's a big "OOPSIE!!" on the world stage, so now they are franticly trying to walk back the implied threat from Elon's original tweet ... and save face for Rubio. Someone needs to give him a map to carry around with him. IMO.

Speech by Danish Prime Minister

"You and your country now have been fighting for three long years a full scale war of aggression started by Russia. You have defended not only your own country but all of Europe and I believe that none of us in this room are able to put into words how grateful we are......

Conditions for peace are to be set through strength and I think that is the single most important task for Europe.....A ceasefire without a sustainable peace will cause a lot of danger to all of us...

Let me just conclude by saying that the best things about heroes is that they always win at the end and if they aren't winning then it's not the end

Why WW3? It is Ukraine fighting Russia - just as they have been doing for the last three years without it being WW3. JMO

Honestly if you lived in Ukraine - would you die fighting or surrender to a monster? MOO

Ukrainians are very brave.

  • #696
If Putin came to your country and executed half a town and tried to take over your country (knowing if they achieve it you would be living in a Russian state and their methods), would you fight or would you just say - hey I give in - come and take the country?! JMO

Surely Putin is to blame for not calling his thugs out? not the one who was invaded?

I have been wondering if America was invaded and three or four cities were taken would Americans be content to say Well thats ok we have plenty of others to keep? No they would not. They would want their whole country and rightly so.

My Father was in the military. When I was a kid, I once said the Americans have much more than us and are bigger and better. Can't remember the conversation - maybe space or war or something.

He got quite irate and said that's not true and we have much more advanced things but it's top secret so he can't tell me.

That was a long time ago. And the situation has probably changed. But I think it's about time the Uk and Europe did have a lot more advanced things and top secret things. Even back then there were secrets from the US. JMO

"You know Zelensky blew it in the White House." .... Lindsey Graham

I don't even like Graham, but hey, he said it, and I've been saying the same all along.
