Ugh (MOO) Don't make concessions! JMO Why should Russia gain any of Ukraine at all?!! That's like rewarding bad behaviour JMO

"The U.S. delegation that is set to meet with its Ukrainian counterpart on March 11 will assess if Ukraine is ready for a "realistic peace," Reuters reported on March 10, citing unnamed officials."

"As part of their assessment, U.S. officials want to see whether or not Ukraine is ready to make concessions to Russia in order to end the war."

"You can't say 'I want peace,' and, 'I refuse to compromise on anything,'" an unnamed official said.

"If they are only interested in 2014 or 2022 borders, that tells you something," another official said."

Why would Putin stick to any deal anyway?

"Vladimir Putin told Bill Clinton three years before his 2014 attack on Ukraine that he was not bound by the Budapest Memorandum guaranteeing the country’s territorial integrity, according to the former US president."

“Putin said to me: ‘… I know Boris agreed to go along with you and John Major and Nato, but he never got it through the Duma [Russian parliament]. We have our extreme nationalists too. I don’t agree with it and I do not support it and I’m not bound by it.’

“I knew from that day forward, it was just a matter of time,” the former president said of Putin launching an attack."

Precisely. At what point does Putin’s refusal to make concessions mean that HE doesn’t want peace? Is this concession requirement only for Ukraine, not their invader? IMO Trump wants a quick “peace” for the glory (bragging rights) and for a Nobel Peace Prize. He is not capable of genuinely caring about anyone or anything that doesn’t benefit him personally.

JMO MOO

Russia is now threatening Australia (it says it is 'warning' us).
The Russian embassy in Canberra (Australia's capital) said that if we join the coalition of the willing there will be grave consequences.

We are sending our NATO and EU military rep - Air Vice Marshal Di Turton - to Paris this week, to attend the summit for countries offering to contribute to a peacekeeping force to end the war.

Maybe another Cold War is starting?

Russia said it was expelling two British “diplomats” ..... the embassy’s second secretary and the husband of the first secretary, the FSB said “counterintelligence work had revealed an undeclared British intelligence presence under the cover of the national embassy.”

As a side note, in 2023 Australia's security force (ASIO) uncovered a Russian spy ring here of Russian embassy and consular staff and operatives. Just so people understand that Russia is VERY familiar with installing spies in their own embassies.

Fake Russian diplomats revealed as heart of ‘hive’ spy ring in Australia

"Pro-Russia candidate Călin Georgescu barred from Romanian presidential elections

Romania’s central election authority has barred far-right pro-Russia frontrunner Călin Georgescu from running in May’s presidential election re-run.

The rejection of his candidacy, which was announced on Sunday evening and was condemned by far-right party leaders as undemocratic, can be challenged at the constitutional court."

Seems as though Europe may be now making a concerted effort to keep pro-Russian people out of government. imo

Putin has the power to immediately stop the war - his troops invaded Ukraine.
Giving in to bullies only makes them bigger bullies.
I was thinking about this line of reasoning and my opinion is this. I just don't think Russia is going to point blank turn around, leave Ukraine and lay down their arms. It's simply an unrealistic hope. So what are the alternatives? Fight! Well, that avenue of thought means war. And with the U.S. pulling back from that pathway, and with the desire to defeat Russia so strong, then there are a few things that will need to be sourced elsewhere. Billions of dollars, likely tens of billions, or even hundreds of billions, will be required. Armaments of all sorts, from drones, missiles, tanks, artillery, ammo, missiles, and a whole litany of supporting supplies and equipment, intelligence, and most tragic....men and women to commit to battle. All this for an extended period, likely years. In the event it would touch off a world war, then other factors, many very dire, arise.

The other avenue of thought is to come to the table and hammer out a deal for peace.

So basically because Russia, the invaders will not do the right thing Ukraine should give up? It is blatantly OBVIOUS with what is coming out of Russia that they are NOT interested in peace. Not at all and tbh why should they be now when aided by Trump?

If Trump is a Putin ally, then the U.S. is an ally of North Korea too, and some other unsavory nations....and worse, that makes the U.S. an enemy at war with all of Europe. Ouch!

What I posted, and you replied to, is my opinion. Thanks!

US president says he finds Russia easier to deal with than Ukraine after cutting off intelligence and weapons to Kyiv

"All they want is to keep the land they stole, plus 50% of your mineral resources. Why are you being difficult about this?"

I can't imagine anyone doing anything remotely similar to the US and anyone expecting them to just roll over about it. This is absolute madness.

I remember stories from my uncle about doing bomb drills, hiding under his desk in school, having grown up during the cold war. Now, only a generation later, the leader of the United States is handing Russia deals on a platter. 78 years later, Russia has won the cold war.

Ukraine has been seeking peace since the very first second of the war, and we have always said that the only reason it continues is Russia.

I am grateful to every unit and every brigade defending Ukraine’s positions, ensuring the destruction of the occupiers, and making every effort to provide our country with the strength needed to bring peace closer.
