Trump is already hinting at a recession and the stock market dropped 1,000 points. Egg prices continue to stay high. I'd say people here are fed up already.
It will take more than 52 days to turn around the economy and inflation that Biden left us with. I'd say people here are optimistic that Trump will be able to turn the Biden economy around.

What would you suggest?

I'd definitely prefer to hear the cousin's opinion vs the VP's ;)
I would suggest the same things I’ve been suggesting throughout the threads. Although others have expressed it much better. The following is all in my humble opinion.

1. The mineral deal is mutually beneficial in many ways. It would put Americans on the ground in Ukraine and that would offer a level of security. If Russia harms an American surely we would come to their defense.

2. Somebody needs to keep an open door with Russia. President Z wants the person acting on his behalf to publicly call out Russia. He did this with President Trump, the Pope and likely others. I’ve seen his bullet point plan and that was part of it. That just doesn’t work if you are trying to keep an open door.

3. I don’t want to see the United States fund an endless war. And Ukraine doesn’t have an unlimited amount of people to sustain it forever.

4. NATO countries can’t join in the fight. This would be seen as an act of aggression and wouldn’t end well.

5. I would be happy to see Europe take the bull by the horns and come up with a peaceful solution. Maybe they could do the mineral deal.

6. We need to understand the history and what got us to this point.

He is starting to sound like he has dementia IMO He is stuck on the word "cards" repeatedly and either keeps changing his mind or doesn't know what he's talking about. Does he think he's in a 1930s gangster movie? It's almost a spoof! Except Trump said it. MOO
Totally, for a LONG time, horrifying as we see.

I think it would be a mistake to write off to ill-health what can easily be attributed to imbecilic malice.

Excuses, excuses.

Trump said that on Day 1 of his 2nd term, high prices due to inflation will go back down. Seems like he was lying about that too. Promises made, promises broken.

Trump says Russia "doesn't have the cards" in peace talks with Ukraine.

Neither Ukraine nor Russia "has the cards" in potential peace negotiations, U.S. President Donald Trump told journalists on March 10 ahead of talks between the U.S. and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia. "I say they (Ukraine) don't have the cards. Nobody really has the cards. Russia doesn't have the cards," he said. Trump's recent statement contradicts his previous ones. On Feb. 20, Trump said that Russia held "the cards" in any peace talks with Ukraine as it occupies a significant part of Ukrainian territory.https://kyivindependent.com/nobody-really-has-cards-in-potential-peace-talks-between-russia-ukraine-trump-says/

UK to host virtual summit on Ukraine on March 15 as peacekeeping plans advance.

Ongoing diplomatic and military talks between the U.K. and France aim to outline the structure and responsibilities of the proposed peacekeeping force.

"If it comes to the point where a European presence is needed for a ceasefire or peace agreement to be reached (in Ukraine), then Denmark is in principle prepared for that," Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said.

Someone really needs to write him a list of the nonsense that spews out of his mouth, he clearly needs help keeping up with what he has said so he doesn't keep contradicting himself

THENNNNNN he started to do his thing and here is the country and it's institutions and very important human being programs, along with climate, protected parks and forests, being trashed. Not forgetting to include creating Canada as an enemy and the good leaders of the European countries, so far.

He shrugs and says, for real, never said it etc.

Ukrainian forces successfully deployed a new kamikaze drone, similar to the Shahed, to destroy Russian positions on the front lines

The UAS SETH drone is fully automated and capable of striking targets at distances of up to 100 km

Portugal transferred a fleet of missile-ready SA-330 Puma helicopters to Ukraine as part of a €220 million military aid package

These helicopters are equipped with advanced fire control systems and radar

Ukrainian refugees contributed an estimated $4 billion to Poland’s budget in 2024

In 2025, Polish medium and large companies plan to increase employment among workers from outside the European Union, particularly from Ukraine

On the other hand, if he is getting dementia, he is much more suggestible and easily groomed by Putin IMO. He needs protection - in a place a long long way away - Siberia maybe? Sorry 😂 MOO

And when Putin refuses to give an inch? Ukraine should agree to what? Just line up for their Russian passports?
Well they're not coming to America! IMO

MAR 10, 2025
Key Takeaways:
  • Russia continues to publicly claim that it wants peace while offering no concessions of its own in sharp contrast with the concessions Ukraine has already offered.
  • Russian officials continue to capitalize on the Trump administration's statements and actions in an attempt to divide the United States and Europe.
  • Russian forces are consolidating their gains in Kursk Oblast and likely preparing to attack Sudzha in the coming days.
  • Ukraine continues to expand its domestic production of drones and air defense systems to support its war effort.
  • Ukrainian forces recently advanced near Toretsk and Pokrovsk, and Russian forces recently advanced in Kursk Oblast and near Toretsk and Pokrovsk.
  • Russian President Vladimir Putin approved a list on March 10 of instructions for the Russian government and the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation aimed at increasing social benefits to Russian veterans, which will likely put further strain on the Russian budget and economy.

Source please??

That's completely different from what I find.

What Biden actually left:
Ref American Progress
Ref: Forbes Report
2025 Economic Report
US Economy Grew
Record Low Unemplyment
"Remarkable Economy

And edit to add: Today's stock markets are showing anything BUT "optimism" with the economic future. Just a couple from this evening:

7 Weeks later:

US Economy worsens: Very wobbly
US Stocks Plunging
US Stocks suffering heavy falls
US Stocks sell-offs getting worse

The US economy grew 2.3% in the fourth quarter of 2024.
And inflation had settled down. (See graph below; source: Statistica.)
So complaints about the economy and inflation that Biden handed off are not valid in my view. I was in senior management of an investment management firm, and we would describe these conditions as pretty strong.

Trump may seek to blame others, but he is crashing the economy all by his actions. Tariff wars and major firings of federal employees take a toll on the US economy. Even Trump admitted that he can't be sure that the US won't enter recession this year. Clearly that's not what Biden handed him. It seems to be an excuse.

You mean Ukraine should just roll over on their backs and give in? Whilst Trump and Russia laugh?
I would be open to having Europe defeat Russia.

Yet the current US admin (plus Elon, who wasn't elected) take offense at Ukraine. (Elon slammed Mark Kelly, who went to Ukraine to understand things on the ground.) We all know who the bully is. It's Russia. They are the invader. And the USA is siding with Russia...the invader. Apparently the USA is fine with countries invading democratic countries.
I wonder why this is? I truly don't understand.

And I wonder why so many Americans seem to be ok with that. What happened to being the 'most democratic nation in the world' and being the 'defender of democracy'? I'm just really confused right now. I just don't get it. Did the USA change their interest in democracy?
There's some history related to space program issues between Elon and Kelly, former astronaut. That's what appears to be playing out here. I suspect from Elon's point of view, having a sitting Congressmember go to a war zone when the Administration is working on a peace agreement is considered to be inappropriate. They may differ on their viewpoints. People often do.

He also said he'd end the war within 24 hours...

“They’re dying, Russians and Ukrainians. I want them to stop dying. And I’ll have that done — I’ll have that done in 24 hours.”

Trump says he can end the Russia-Ukraine war in one day. Russia’s UN ambassador says he can’t
