China started making aggressive moves well before then. They started in 2005 when they passed their anti-secession law 'stating China's right to use "non-peaceful means" against Taiwan if it tried to "secede" from China.'

The threat was put there very clearly.

And just a couple of days before the invasion of Ukraine in a little-noticed act, Azerbaijan signed a bilateral military agreement with Russia. This is significant because Azerbaijan’s leader has been resisting this for decades. And we can also see that Russia has made itself the final arbiter of the future relationship between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Georgia has also been marginalized after being a thorn in Russia’s side for decades. And Belarus is now completely subjugated by Moscow.

But amid all this, Ukraine was the country that got away. And what Putin is saying now is that Ukraine doesn’t belong to Ukrainians. It belongs to him and the past.
Basically, if Vladimir Putin has his way, Ukraine is not going to exist as the modern-day Ukraine of the last 30 years.

The European Union agreed FOR THE FIRST TIME, to jointly finance weapons deliveries to a third country to help Ukraine fend off the Russian invasion, EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell said.

A number of European countries including Norway, Italy and Finland have announced they will provide arms to Ukraine.

Russia’s foreign ministry has said those supplying lethal weapons to Ukraine will bear responsibility should they be used during Russia’s military campaign there.

The ministry added that the steps the European Union has taken against Russia will not be left without a harsh response.

I think there are others, because some - like Australia - are supplying via NATO.
It is not clear what has arrived in Ukraine.

I've got an ominous pit in my stomach. I think Putin is going to try and go gangbusters now. I think Belarus soldiers are going to be asked to play a bigger role too. I sure do pray I'm wrong and that the Russian people military and civilians will make a difference <3
