It sounds as if the Russian people will be able to use their credit cards within Russia. But they won't be able to use them for transactions outside Russia.

Within days, all transactions initiated with Visa cards issued within Russia will no longer work outside of the country and any Visa cards issued outside of the Russia will no longer work within the country, the company said.
Visa, Mastercard suspend operations in Russia over Ukraine invasion

Thank you for clarifying.
I have reached my article limit, but trust your interpretation.

There's no way Putin anticipated even a fraction of the sanctions and moves that have been made by the world.

This is unreal.
It is unreal, and also absolutely amazing! These companies will be losing millions, some of them billions. Kudos to all of them!

Hmmm

That "blocked" flight on FR24 that I was watching, assuming it was the Rossya Special Forces plane sent from Moscow to DC to pick up the expelled Russian diplomats seems to have landed in St. John's Nova Scotia.

I dunno. Wrong plane, or they are switching planes, or something else.

I can see on FlightAware that it arrived Dulles Airport at 02:10 pm EST, but it does not appear to have departed, yet, and is not in the upcoming scheduled departures

I certainly have no special insight, but if you guestimate the number of all foreign nationals currently in Russia that would like to get out before Aeroflot and Norwind stop doing foreign flights, as well as everyone Russian that wants to leave, I can't see any plane leaving Russia in the next 72 hours without an empty seat.

I paid 3.85 per gallon, yesterday. Over $80.00 to fill up.

We must restart the US Pipeline. Some folks don't be able to work with the high cost of fuel. Moo....
In the north west of England it’s £7.20 or $9.53 per gallon

This is unreal.

Interestingly, if he didn’t see it coming it is a sign of how out of touch he is with world affairs and what has been a key strategic driver for Fortune 500 companies globally the last 5 years. Ethics, integrity and acting in line with one’s mission and values.

The highest I saw today was €/Euro 1.79 a liter in Latvia. I bought some last week for 1.62 - so going up!

there is about 4 liters in a gallon - so I paid in gallons - $7.16 - and Bit of Hope paid - 9.20
There’s 4.546 litres in a gallon so approx 4.5 x £1.60 litre in U.K. = £7.20/$9.53

Don't know, if this is posted before... but worth a share - just in case!

In Ukraine Belarusians fight for a free Belarus: 'After this we liberate Minsk'

A group of masked men with Ukrainian and Belarusian flags look straight into the camera. They have a message for soldiers from Belarus. "You should have deserted a long time ago, but it is not too late," it is said. "Do the right thing and step over to our side!"

Ukraine, Russia Agreement on Evacuating Mariupol Civilians Collapses - WSJ

Sources: Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (Russia-controlled area in eastern Ukraine); Dr. Phillip Karber, Potomac Foundation (Russian incursions, refugee crossing locations); International Atomic Energy Agency, Energoatom (Nuclear facilities) Max Rust and Emma Brown/The Wall Street Journal

U.S. officials said Saturday that they are exploring a deal in which Poland would send Soviet-era aircraft to Ukraine in return for American F-16 jet fighters. The disclosure of a possible deal followed Mr. Zelensky’s impassioned plea via video to more than 200 members of Congress for assistance in obtaining more lethal military aid, especially Russian-made jet fighters that Ukrainian pilots can fly.

Ukraine’s General Staff said it was holding the line on most fronts and was beginning a counteroffensive, with Ukrainian forces releasing footage of a large column of abandoned Russian armor near Kharkiv. The governor of the southern Mykolaiv region, Vitaly Kim, said Ukrainian forces on Saturday pushed back Russian troops trying to enter the port city of Mykolaiv, seizing enemy armor. He called on local residents to feed stray Russian soldiers and then turn them over to police.

In a demonstration of its ability to counter Russia’s overwhelming advantage in aviation, Ukraine also shot down several Russian jet fighters, bombers and combat helicopters on Saturday, releasing footage of four captured pilots and crew and the remains of downed aircraft. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who met U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the Ukrainian-Polish border on Saturday, said three of these Russian aircraft were downed with U.S.-made Stinger missiles.

[...]

To make up for its military setbacks, Russia has increasingly resorted to indiscriminate bombing and shelling of civilian areas, particularly in Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Sumy and Mariupol, Ukrainian and Western officials said.

Russia’s army “has shown its true nature of a terrorist and coward, which is able to attack only the civilian population,” Ukraine’s Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said.

I dunno. Cards issued by Russian banks won't work. My debit card is VISA issued by my bank. My assumption is any Russian banks that issue visa or Mastercard bank cards are in trouble. JMO

I can't read the Reuters article. My source:

This was just posted in Swedish news

A Russian state plane is on its way to Washington DC. The plane flew from St. Petersburg at 09:41 local time and is expected to land in the USA at 12:40 local time (18:40 Swedish time).

The same plane flew from Moscow to St. Petersburg yesterday.”

Anyone know what’s that about? I found this flight on flightradar its under Rossiya name and passing under Iceland now.

In the north west of England it’s £7.20 or $9.53 per gallon

So on your figures of $3.85 per gallon equals £2.91 per gallon in GBP sterling
A difference of £4.29 more expensive than what you are paying or $5.67 more expensive in U.K. per gallon!!!!

I don't see any Rossiya Special Flights when using the FR24 "search" feature . 'Don't aircraft just seem to disappear from the screen if/when they turn off their transponders? And, those that say "blocked" are aircraft that have requested to be blocked??

Also, there's nothing per Sweeney's bot tracking.

All these sanctions are plunging Russians back to Communism, little bit by bit, all imposed by the West. It's not hard to believe that Russians feel like they are under attack from the West. At the same time, this is exactly what Putin wants - that his people are plunged into media censorship and hierarchical society of obedience and dictatorship due to foreigner acts of aggression. Meanwhile, his annexation of Ukraine is portrayed as saving the people of Ukraine from political tyranny.

I couldn't quite understand what I was seeing when I read there were shopping sprees at Ikea when shop closure was announced. Shopping sprees while waging war? They need more flower pots?

The Russian people are slowly losing their rights and freedoms as the Iron Curtain falls. The Ukrainians are the first to feel it.
