Can you provide a summary of this article, as you have to sign up in order to read it. I'm interested in what the approach is in other countries to take in Ukraine refugees. We have a student here in the U.S. whose parents and grandmother and two siblings finally escape Ukraine and are now in Poland, but she is having a hard time getting them visas to the U.S. as they have no passports, etc. They escaped with just the clothes on their backs and some medicines. Her father was able to leave Ukraine due to his medical condition. We are working with our congressional leaders to try to get her famiy to the U.S., but it is definitely a complex issue since they have no passports and not much identification.

Putin Signs Law Introducing 15-Year Jail Term For "Fake News" On Army

Russian media have been instructed to only publish information provided by official sources, which describe the invasion as a military operation.

State-controlled broadcasters have meanwhile reinforced government narratives about nationalism in Ukraine and Moscow's claim that Ukrainian soldiers are using civilians as human shields.

POSTING PIC otherwise unavailable (for some) GRAPHIC, do not enlarge.
This beyond heartbreaking photo, says everything anybody needs to know about P and all his number 2's ...
This image should be blown/dropped/inserted into balloons, whatever it takes for it to be circulated in Russia, imo, speculation imo.

THESE DEATHS ARE WAR CRIMES

Brazilian politician’s sexist remarks about Ukraine refugees spark outrage | Ukraine | The Guardian
''A prominent member of the Brazilian right is facing calls to resign after he was exposed in leaked audio messages making a succession of callous and misogynistic remarks about Ukrainian refugees during a purportedly humanitarian mission to the recently invaded country.''

''In one recording, the politician says: “I’ve just crossed the border on foot between Ukraine and Slovakia. Bro, I swear to you … I’ve never seen anything like it in terms of beautiful girls. The refugee queue … it’s like 200metres-long or more of just total goddesses … It’s some incredible 🤬🤬🤬🤬 … The queue outside Brazil’s best nightclub … doesn’t come close to the refugee queue here.”

In a second excerpt Do Val says: “Let me tell you, they’re easy because they’re poor.”

In a third he makes obscene remarks about female security officials at the Ukraine/Slovakia border, before adding: “Just unbelievable, dude. As soon as this war’s over, I’m coming back.”

In the days since Putin's devastating invasion of Ukraine, over 200 companies have announced that they are withdrawing from Russia in protest, calling to mind the large-scale corporate boycott of Apartheid South Africa in the 1980s.

Nevertheless, some western companies have continued to operate in Russia undeterred; we identified thirty companies with particularly significant exposure to Russian markets.

The full list of companies that have curtailed operations in Russia as well as those that remain, as of March 6, can be seen below.

Download the list by clicking here.

The list is updated daily by Jeffrey Sonnenfeld and his research team at the Yale Chief Executive Leadership Institute

Frankrijk hekelt Brits "gebrek aan menselijkheid" tegenover Oekraïense vluchtelingen

French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, in a letter to his British counterpart Priti Patel, accused the UK of a "completely inappropriate response" and a "lack of humanity" towards the Ukrainian refugees held back in Calais.

Looking for their families across the Channel, about 150 Ukrainian refugees have been asked in recent days by British representatives to turn around and go to Paris or Brussels to apply for visas at consulates there, Minister Darmanin wrote on Saturday. In total, more than 400 Ukrainians have arrived in Calais since the start of the war in Ukraine, the letter said.

"It becomes imperative that, exceptionally and for the duration of the crisis, your consular representation is able to issue family reunification visas directly in Calais," said Minister Darmanin. "It would be incomprehensible that consular fortifications should be set up all over Europe for this purpose, even in Ukraine, and that the same could not be done at the closest to your border."

"Our coasts have already been the scene of too many human dramas," concluded the French interior minister, referring to the shipwreck that killed 27 migrants in November, "let's not add that of these Ukrainian families."

My advise: Refugees trying to get from Calais to UK has been a very difficult situation for years, so try also to see this in this context.

France has let tens of thousands of refugees attempt to cross the sea to UK in flimsy dinghies over the last few years, because they didn’t want to keep them there. Waving them off as they paddle away. Hundreds have drowned during the crossing. It is well documented here in the UK and there have apparently been cases of the French refusing to rescue capsized boats because they’d gone more than half way.

I’m frankly gobsmacked that France thinks it’s even appropriate to comment on this current situation and I say that as someone with more French relatives than British. Macron has had it in for us since Brexit, but I don’t think it’s the right time for him to be making digs.

For the record, Boris Johnson has said there is room for 200,000 Ukrainian refugees, those with family here can stay for up to 3 years and are eligible for welfare benefits, housing and work permits.

Don't shoot the messenger....I know about the so called "jungle of Calais", terrible.

This, and other stories like this one, is just so sad. I know that the older generation of Russians are indoctrinated by Putin's years of propaganda and control but how can a Mother not believe the words from her own child's mouth, when that child is literally there experiencing it firsthand, how can she be so resolute as to not even question the foreign media blackouts and the threat of martial law when her child is telling her "Mum,hear what is happening to us"?.

Perhaps the mother is terrified that the conversation is being recorded. Or maybe it will just take time to sink in. So sad.

Well said. This was Macron following his own agenda rather than any concern for Ukranian refugees. He could easily organise transport for them to go to the Embassy in Paris.

Poland’s ambassador to the United States told Fox News he believes Russia has military ambitions beyond Ukraine and called for economic sanctions to potentially last for decades against the Putin regime.

"I believe Ukraine is not the last item on Mr. Putin's menu," said Ambassador Marek Magierowski, who spoke with Fox News from the Polish Embassy in Washington, D.C.

Polish ambassador warns Putin has sights set beyond Ukraine, calls for decades long Russian sanctions

I’m just a no-body but I haven’t had a good feeling about this for months. I also do not see P stopping at Ukraine. He’s on a war path for what ever reason and threats of nukes have outsiders quaking

The Red Cross is losing its mind. I don’t blame them. I attached a Google map to try to give an idea of where this hospital is located (red pin).

Right now, only one hospital is operational in Severodonetsk.

They’ve just got access to critically needed supplies.

This includes medical items, like dressing materials, disinfectants, and antibiotics.

Plus basic hygiene necessities, like soap, diapers and candles.

Oh I definitely wasn’t, I know you would know the situation already!! Think it was @Sundog that had asked about it so I’ve probably quoted the wrong person.

It’s pissed me right off though! Shut up, France… people in glass houses and all that!

People are living in terror in Mariupol, desperate for safety.

Today’s attempt to start evacuating an estimated 200,000 people has failed.

The failed attempts underscore the absence of a detailed and functioning agreement between parties to the conflict. #Ukraine

Thread

We are not and cannot be the guarantor of a ceasefire agreement between the parties or of its implementation.

As a neutral and impartial humanitarian intermediary, we've been facilitating dialogue between the parties on the safe passage of civilians.

Civilians need safety.

Parties need to agree not just in principle but also on the details of safe passages.

In particular:

*Specific time, locations and evacuation routes
*Who may be voluntarily evacuated
*Whether aid can be brought in, not just the evacuation of civilians out

Today, our team began opening up the evacuation route from Mariupol before hostilities resumed.

We remain in Mariupol and are ready to help facilitate further attempts – if the parties reach an agreement, which is for them alone to implement and respect.

I’ve been helping coordinate local collections to go to southern Poland this week. We sent a lorry packed with clothes and shoes, and another crammed full of medical supplies, cleaning products, toiletries and baby equipment. The generosity is so heartening, it’s been very emotional at times.

But.. just had an SOS for military equipment such as night vision goggles, helmets and bullet proof vests. Not sure how easy they will be to get hold of round here, but someone just suggested “try the middle aisle at Aldi”. Ya never know!!
