It is claimed that over 120,000 Ukrainian children and other civilians (especially young women) have been forcibly deported to Russia. This IMO is part of their efforts to erase Ukrainian cultural identity and comes under the definition of genocide. It's not just about killing civilians, but also targeting and removing all those with cultural influence and forcing the "re-education" of children to become proper citizens of the aggressor state.

Russia to fast-track adoptions of Ukrainian children 'forcibly deported' after their parents were killed by Putin's troops, authorities say

However, there is yet another aspect that needs to be considered: the practice of forcible transfer of children and illegal adoptions being used as a genocidal method as per Article II(e) of the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (the Genocide Convention) (“forcibly transferring children of the group to another group”).

There is also some evidence that important Ukrainian cultural sites and monuments are being targeted.

Some Ukrainians believe Russia is targeting landmarks to erase country from the map

Targeting historic monuments and cultural heritage sites is a war crime under international law, according to The Hague Convention of 1954. But that all seems to be part of Russia’s plan, some cultural authorities say. “They just want to erase from the map Ukraine — our heritage, our history, our identity and Ukraine as an independent state,” said Iryna Podolyak, Ukraine’s former vice minister of culture, who said Russia’s military seems to be targeting cultural heritage sites in addition to houses, hospitals and schools.

Then there appears to be claims of the covering up of mass killings, so that the death toll vs missing vs deported can't be easily verified. Another example of systematic erasure of a people.

Mariupol mayor says siege has killed more than 10K civilians

Boychenko gave new details of recent allegations by Ukrainian officials that Russian forces have brought mobile cremation equipment to Mariupol to dispose of the corpses of victims of the siege.

Russian forces have taken many bodies to a huge shopping center where there are storage facilities and refrigerators, Boychenko said.

“Mobile crematoriums have arrived in the form of trucks: You open it, and there is a pipe inside and these bodies are burned,” he said.

It's deplorable and all sour grapes since Ukraine started it's own branch of the Orthodox Church after Russia invaded Crimea. AJMO

Russia's war in Ukraine leads to historic split in the Orthodox Church

It is a problem in the Orthodox Christian church in the United States. Many Ukrainians, Russians, others, attend the same church in the United States. We sit next to a family who came to the United States as immigrants from Russia. My husband's family, came from Ukraine. The church here is a community /melting pot. We gather as a group, horrified by what is happening in Ukraine.

The fact that the Russian Orthodox church, openly supports the genocide occurring in Ukraine is horrific. It affects us deeply.

Russian warship 'seriously damaged' after ammunition explosion as crew evacuated, Russian defence ministry says

The Russian defence ministry has said the entire crew of the warship Moskva, reported to be struck by Ukraine in the Black Sea late on Wednesday night, has been evacuated after an ammunition explosion resulted in a fire on the ship.

The ship was famously defied by Ukrainian troops on Snake Island at the start of the war

“The cruiser ‘Moskva’ of the Black Sea Fleet was seriously damaged as a result of the detonation of ammunition that occurred as a result of a fire, the crew was evacuated,” Russian state media outlet TASS reported, citing the Russian defene ministry.

“As a result of a fire, ammunition detonated on the Moskva missile cruiser. The ship was seriously damaged. The crew was completely evacuated,” the ministry added.

Earlier this evening, Ukraine said it struck and damaged a Russian warship in the Black Sea, according to a Telegram messaged posted by Odessa governor Maksym Marchenko.

“It has been confirmed that the missile cruiser Moskva today went exactly where it was sent by our border guards on Snake Island!” Marchenko said.

On the first day of the invasion, the small garrison refused calls from the ship for it to surrender, telling the ship to “go 🤬🤬🤬🤬 yourself”.

Ukrainian presidential aide Oleksiy Arestovych said the ship could have as many as 510 crew members on board.''

Mariupol mayor says siege has killed more than 10K civilians
It's all so diabolical and treacherous...I'd say insidious but it's not at all being done subtlety. It's just so blatant that it makes you just so doubtful how the Russian people, governmental people, cannot see what is happening? The KGB must be alive and thriving, it has everyone under their thumb. That's the only answer I see that can explain this Twilight Zone of a country. AJMO

Wowza!! Quite the article.

I'm thinking the Pentagon knows some bad bad stuff is planned, maybe bio or chemical?

800 million more should be enough to blow the whole Russian Black Sea Navy to kingdom come. It also comes with the cravat that the new arms package not be used on targets inside Russia.

Sounds like the US is preparing the Ukrainians to take back Crimea? Or at the least threaten to do it if the Russians don't leave Mariupol and the other coastal cities it's trying to level and occupy?

..."The new intelligence guidance comes as the White House said that it will send $800 million in additional weapons to Kyiv, including artillery, armored personnel carriers and helicopters, to help Ukrainian forces hold off a major Russian offensive in the eastern part of the country that is expected to unfold in coming days.

The decision to share more intelligence and provide artillery marks a shift in the Biden’s administration’s approach to the conflict..."

Russia-Ukraine War Latest News: Live Updates (wsj.com)
''Ukraine:
Russian forces advanced on a contested steelworks complex in Mariupol. Buses meant to deliver humanitarian aid and evacuate civilians were blocked by Russian soldiers, Ukraine said. Russia shelled civilian targets in the northeastern city of Kharkiv and the southern city of Zaporizhzhia, a hub for refugees who fled Mariupol, Ukraine said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said authorities were collecting more witness testimony about the alleged war crimes for which Russia denies responsibility. He issued a video plea for more weapons to arm Ukrainian forces, who have benefited from NATO training in recent years.'

The big role that small countries are playing in supplying Ukraine - The Washington Post
''Russia is a giant of a country in scale, population and ambition. Yet some of the most notable military support for Ukraine after the Kremlin’s invasion is coming from countries far, far smaller.

Consider Estonia, which has donated anti-armor weapons like FGM-148 javelins and artillery like D-30 122mm howitzers to Ukraine. There’s also its fellow Baltic states Latvia and Lithuania, which have donated Stinger launchers and thermal imaging devices, according to tracking from Jane’s, the open-source defense intelligence provider.
.
The Czech Republic has reportedly sent vehicles like Russian-made T-72M tanks and BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles. Central European neighbor Slovakia announced Monday that it was in talks with allies about how to provide its own fleet of Soviet-designed MiG-29 fighter aircraft to Ukraine forces, building on a prior transfer of a Russian-made S-300 air defense system.
Even smaller countries have done their part: The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg pledged NLAW antitank weapons and jeeps. But mostly, this is the work of countries farther east, former members of the Soviet Union or Warsaw Pact.''

Canada and allies on high alert for Russian disinformation and interference: minister | CBC News
''The Communications Security Establishment said the Kremlin is using platforms featuring antisemitic, anti-LGBTQ, anti immigrant and anti-globalist material to manipulate global audiences.

The surveillance agency, which monitors and decodes signals intelligence including online activity, disclosed that Russia is spreading falsehoods about Canada's involvement in the Ukraine conflict using media it controls.

The Kremlin's false narratives include doctored images of members of the Canadian Armed Forces in Ukraine and false claims that Canadian soldiers are committing war crimes.''

''His remarks come after the government earmarked $28 million in the budget to combat disinformation within Canada and by foreign actors such as Russia, China and Iran.

"Russia is a well-known belligerent and hostile actor in this space. And so too are other state actors and that is why we remain on high alert," he said.

Mendicino said calling out lies — including Putin's assertion that the invasion of Ukraine was designed to de-Nazify the country — is a crucial first step to undermining the impact of disinformation.

He added Canada is working "very closely" with G7 partners and the "Five Eyes" — an intelligence alliance between Canada, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand and the United States — to fight disinformation, which he said was being used to undermine democracies around the world.''

Finnish NATO decision coming in 'weeks,' with Swedish choice not far behind - Breaking Defense

"In a joint press conference today, Finnish prime minister Sanna Marin and Swedish prime minister Magdalena Andersson openly discussed the potential for joining the alliance, something that seemed almost impossible just six months ago — before Russia’s Vladimir Putin launched an invasion of non-NATO member Ukraine."

How can Putin and his fellow mouthpieces think that their actions... Ukraine invasion and abuction/torture/rape/slaughter of men, women and children and then saying words about Finland joining NATO..." it would mean "the destruction of the country"...would lead to anything less than Finland and Sweden wanting to not be put in the same situation as Ukraine.

Russian mouthpieces of Putin say things like Finland joining would be them joining an "alliance [NATO] [that] remains a tool geared towards confrontation"!???

Russian mouthpieces of Putin say the most ridiculous things that are arse-backwards AND they expect the world watching the carnage they've created to swallow it all?

Russia sees NATO arms shipments as military targets
The Russian Foreign Ministry has told state media TASS that Russia considers arms shipments from NATO and the United States to be legitimate military targets.

"We warn that US and NATO arms shipments over Ukrainian territory will be considered legitimate military targets by us," Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.

Many countries supply weapons to help Ukraine in the fight against Russia, including NATO countries such as Turkey and the Netherlands. This concerns, for example, drones, rocket launchers and ammunition. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he would also deliver armored vehicles and anti-ship missiles during his visit to Kiev last weekend.

Isn't this article 5 Nato?

Macron: Be careful with terms like genocide
French President Macron does not want to use the term 'genocide'. He said this in an interview with the broadcaster France 2. Yesterday , US President Biden accused his Russian counterpart Putin of genocide against the Ukrainian population.

According to Biden, it is becoming increasingly clear that Putin is simply trying to destroy the idea of being Ukrainian. Macron warns that such statements do not contribute to efforts to end the war.

The French president therefore prefers to stick to the facts, which he believes are that Russia has started a brutal war. He also says that war crimes have been committed that need to be investigated.

If we are talking about 'genocide', of course it has to be proven.....this means according to the Geneva Convention we have to act up.

900 refugees from Ukraine have found work in the Netherlands
According to the UWV, at least 900 Ukrainian refugees have found work in the Netherlands. A spokesman for the government organization says the number is increasing by about 130 per day.

Many refugees want to work. There is a shortage of personnel in many sectors and companies can use them well. Ukrainians who have fled their country because of the Russian invasion are allowed to work without a so-called work permit. Employers must, however, report it from the beginning of this month if they employ a refugee Ukrainian.

The UWV cannot yet say in which sectors the refugees work. That will be communicated next month.

BBC: Clear evidence that cluster bomb was used in train station attack
According to the BBC , there is clear evidence that a cluster bomb was used in the attack on a train station in Kramatorsk in eastern Ukraine. This means that several small bombs are dropped from large ammunition, increasing the chance of many casualties.

BBC journalists visited the site of the attack and saw "clear patterns consistent with the use of a cluster projectile" on the ground. They also saw a "scatter pattern" next to a larger hole in a building. Witnesses also heard an explosion followed by four or five explosions.

In addition, a Tochka-U missile was found that can be used to fire cluster munitions. The broadcaster spoke to three weapons experts who reviewed the findings and also confirmed that these are likely cluster munitions.

The use of cluster bombs is highly controversial. Not all projectiles explode. The explosives can still explode later if someone touches or picks them up. At least 50 people were killed in the attack in Kramatorsk.

Did anybody see a confirmation from the free countries/independent media or Ukraine about the surrendering troops in Mariupol?

Thanks to @dotr and @Vern to answer my question about the genocide topic and giving a kind of conformation that some troops have surrendered. A totally different story (of course) then was stated by Russia. Victory!

Was searching also, - due to storm, nightfall and probably shot from afar, I don't think there are good footage taken.

Saw several updates - last night, about stressed signals, that the Moskva sended out.

Some amateurs and other sources picked up the SOS Morse code that Moskva sended out ,(which were not allowed here... )
It is now verified, see tweet link in MSM :
Russia’s largest warship explodes after missile attack

"Ammunition onboard the Moskva exploded after a fire, according to Moscow's defence ministry. It said the original cause of the damage was not known."

By Thursday afternoon the defence ministry said a fire onboard had been contained and that it would be towing the warship back to port, adding that it was still afloat.

Moscow blamed the blast on an unexplained fire, making no mention of any missile strike

"In a Facebook post, Ukrainian officials said Russian rescue efforts had been hampered by ammunition exploding on board and bad weather."

Russian warship Moskva: What do we know?

Seems like, Admiral Igor Osipov has some explaining to do...

Russia says fire on the Moskva missile cruiser is contained

Russia says fire on the Moskva missile cruiser is contained.

April 14 (Reuters) - Russia's defence ministry said on Thursday that sailors had contained a fire on board the Moskva missile cruiser, the flagship of Russia's Black Sea fleet, and that measures were being taken to tow it back to port.

<can't read the whole article>...It seems that the missile installation on the ship is still in tact.....:(

Thanks for the pictures, etc. We will find out how severe the damage is eventually.

Canadian troops heading to Poland to help Ukrainian refugees | CP24.com
''April 14, 2022 5:39AM EDT
Members of the Canadian Armed Forces are set to depart from an Ontario military base today to help with the care, co-ordination and resettlement of Ukrainian refugees in Poland.

Defence Minister Anita Anand is expected to announce and oversee the deployment from Canadian Forces Base Trenton this morning after a reconnaissance team visited Poland last week to plan for the mission.

A government source speaking on condition of anonymity said the troops will help with the care and co-ordination of Ukrainian refugees, more than 2.6 million of which have fled to Poland since Russia invaded in February.

They will also help Ukrainians leave Poland for other destinations.

Canada has prioritized immigration applications from Ukraine and created a special program that lets Ukrainian citizens and their families come to Canada and work or study for three years.''
