Or maybe not angry, but very upset.
Unfortunately,
we don't see eye to eye in this case.
After so looooong WS friendship ;)

As in many cases, we probably will be going 'round in circles', bringing up different theories, until LE give a definite answer.
Wonder when, and IF, we may hear.

The poor family possible also have no answers.
I keep thinking about poor Ruby, missing her Mum, during her last days.

Water drinking fountains or bubblers as we used to call them seem to be pretty rare here these days.

Or so I thought.

Here is a list of ones in Ballarat.

Over the years I think most people would not want to use them for health reasons and rather rely on their own bottle of water.

Googling tells me that bubblers is a New South Wales term.

Speculating on the possible stalker scenario, supposing the stalker lived very close to her home and stopped her to ask her for help, thus luring her into their property.
Hypothetically someone living close by might be trusted by her and might be familiar with the times she runs by.
They could also delete any of their own cctv if they had it.
I’m not making any accusations of neighbors, just speculating based on the lack of known cctv footage since SM left her own property.

A couple of things from this interview with Sam’s family… She had a routine…… making it possibly easier for a stalker / abduction theory.

Mrs Robson suggested anyone who knew her niece knew she was a creature of habit when it came to exercise.

'She would routinely go for a run in the morning,' she said.

She normally does 20km,' Mr Robson said.

'But she had to meet someone in Ballarat at 10am so she only did 10km.'

Is it possible that brunch was actually scheduled for 10am ???? But when Samantha hadn’t shown up by 11am, the alarm was raised ???

To have called off the search so abruptly I am concluding the police must have solid evidence SM left the forest (or never entered the forest) from the phone and/or watch data they have managed to access, and maybe other clues or evevidence.
I can think of a reason the Police may have called off the main search....
If there is a perpetrator involved, they often return to the crime scene. Why have hundreds of people looking when one person will show you the way.
Besides that, it is an enormous search area and whist I'm sure they would prefer to keep searching until they find her, i expect it is probably not feasible.

So nothing between Blairs Lane and Buninyong.

SM had to meet someone at 10am. first time I’m hearing this. I wonder who that someone is ? I wonder if it’s business related?

Interesting, if it was a 10 am brunch, the timeline looks like she leaves around 7:16 - and is back by 8:16 (8:30 at the latest), so I guess it leaves time to get ready and travel to the brunch location. Were any family members going to brunch with her? It seems she was if she is fastidious about her route so nobody would be expecting her to do 20km that morning. Surely, if she wasn't back by 10, everyone was driving around and mobilising to find her, using find my phone, checking with neighbours, the family's movements that morning will be key.

Unless some more have been put in since that water fountain map which is dated 2020.

@SLouTh - this is the first time the 10am time has been mentioned - isn't it ?

My initial thoughts (in thread#1) was that the time she was home over Xmas without the rest of the family meant someone could have had very good chance to observe her & possible routines. Scope out the house.

Now, in the last week, I've been thinking it could be someone who was trying to threaten them regarding money (extortion). A triangle - SM, MM & third party. It might even explain why she stayed home - while Mick went on holiday to keep things "normal" for the kids / shield them.

Maybe MM raised the alarm quickly because they (the family) already felt threat. As great as LE is, I do find the fact that they leapt into searching & investing resources for SM so quickly might be mean MM was able to share info or texts (or something) that spoke to motive.

MOO
No expert
Only hunches

Seeing the family now mention a stalker or fears re this (news article 3 hrs ago) might mean they have been given the go ahead by LE.

Hoping for some resolution for all.

Saying she had to meet someone sounds like it's just one person, not a group like the brunch would have been.

I tried to find out whether there are taps in the regional park. All I could find was that there had once been toilets but they'd been closed or removed. There's a thing called a boot wash but I don't think it involves water. I also saw that dogs aren't permitted there.

I'm beginning to wonder if they had a vehicle for sale, maybe that was the appointment. The aunty wasn't very forthcoming.
Or wondering if she had something on a classifieds for sale etc. It's a totally out there theory, but sometimes people take advantage. I never meet up with anyone at my place if I sold something eg a dryer I had last year, always in public.

Sounds to me like Mr Robson has got his information muddled.

Yes, that is why I thought it may be significant????
It really stood out to me too.

So we have three times now when Samantha was supposed to be back, 11am, 1pm and now 10am.

Could the 10am and the 11am both be right. One to meet someone, next hour the brunch.

I think the 1pm was a misprint.

On her FB Sam posted that she had put free plants on the corner of Eureka Street and Blair's Lane a year ago.

I wonder, given their business if they ever parked cars there for sale with a sign and contact information?

Either way, this public post regarding the free plants may pique the interest of a possible stalker or disgruntled customer. IMO.

From my memory, I need to find the exact article... From the beginning the brunch was scheduled for 11. When she was a no show, IMO, I imagine they tried contacting her, no answer and assumed she was running late. By the time the brunch was wrapping up around 1pm her friends were concerned and reached out to MM.

Someone posted the flight path when they began air searches that day. Does anyone have that information and time? I believe this was shortly thereafter.

So this 10am time change is news to me and I've never seen any other mention of her meeting anyone at 10.
