why not? if the next question was 'who" then he could have said "can't comment".

Perhaps they are hoping any person that saw Samantha in the forest comes forward to rule themselves out?

Keeping in mind they have a lot of cctv.

At least this now might stop all the " did she ever really leave home" questions :D

The next word I'm hoping to see in this case is "arrest".
As mentioned above, sometimes police release info to spook someone they are watching.

Right along with "Sam has been found".

There might be nothing worse in a missing persons case than not knowing where your loved one is.

imo

If other people apart from the perp know what happened, there is a good chance that they'll talk to save themselves.

The area is 5km away from her Ballarat East home, where she was last seen at 7am on February 4, and adjacent to the Canadian State Forest which was a frequent running route for the mother-of-three.

Hatt said police believe Murphy travelled on foot into the Canadian State Forest and then to the Mt Clear area.

He said police have established this timeline of movements using data from Murphy’s mobile phone.

They said there was no threat to anyone, so they must have a good idea whose responsible.

Maybe there is a link that recent murder/suicide..

Is the Mt. Clear area part of where Jake and the other searchers are looking.
And what happens to their search now.
Depends on the intelligence given to the police, they might be able to search further away from where the police will be

I wonder if they might use the dogs that seek out mobile phones, sim cards etc?

So...
It seems the attack was targeted and carried out by somebody the victim knew.
Terrible.
My heart breaks for her kids and parents :(

Like they used to find Erin Patterson’s electronics?

I notice that at the beginning of the search, it was revealed her phone pinged at 7pm in a neigubouring town of Buninyong. So that would be evidence her phone was removed, along with her.

I thought it was 5 p.m.

I'm still not ruling out that it was something random, like a road rage thing, or a hit and run.

It very well still could be a complete stranger to Samantha.

After following true crime my entire life, I'm not really surprised at anything anymore, sadly :(

I still haven't ruled anything out.
