I'm not watching it either.
I've watched a few of the Under Investigation episodes and had my hopes up too much.
Only to think afterwards, is that all there was?

I took friends statement as a longer break - not just a few months because of Covid ..I was just assuming it was longer like years fine she ran . Plus I am sure that I read somewhere she usually ran shorter distances … so that would be much longer than usual

Could be a longer break, but that does not make her a beginner.

Also you say you heard she usually ran shorter distances? Never heard this, in fact I had been hearing the opposite - around 20km runs usually, but a shorter run on this particular day due to the morning meetings she was said to had had to get to.

I didn’t know Sissy Austin’s attack happened at the half way mark (just shy), giving her the impression her attacker knew her routine.

And why is under investigation changing SM running distance every 3 minutes? First it was a 13km run, then 15km run and now the 7km is the half way point. Might be pedantic to some but not me.

Something they just pointed out in the show ...

Samantha disappeared at about the halfway point of her run (it is assumed)
Sissie was attacked at almost the halfway point of her run.

The show is about ½ way through here in SA.

I feel the same way - they are pushing ‘we know what happened and the data is coming for you and your damaged car’

  • #829
Well that show wasn't that useful

Or as one of the experts believes ... likely more than one person!!

I think something happened at the dinner that ended in the death of SM .
I also think possible it alerted those present to SM ‘S vulnerability & that is why they were quick to respond when she went missing the very next day .
IMOO - I would think end of a relationship..
PolyDot, I agree. There is every reason that she would have skipped her run that Sunday ... really hot day ahead, appointment in morning, still a bit knocked around from covid etc. but at that dinner she apparently talked about going for her run the next morning. Someone at that dinner could have used that knowledge. Someone at that dinner may not have been the friend she thought or, as you say, was upset with her after that dinner.

Yes but what motive .. ?

They had an ex-police officer, a data specialist and a forensic psychologist on the panel and they did most of the talking in the second half. The data specialist (I think) pointed out that it took a long time for police to come forward with info about the Mt Clear location/timing and 'halfway point' of the run and the ex-police officer said "why do you think they would do that?". Data specialist "to watch if anyone comes back?" and the ex-police officer strongly agreed (ie that police would be using surveillance there). They all kept emphasizing how much info can be provided from digital data (even an iphone that has had sim removed etc can apparently be located by something called an IMEI?) but they also talked about people who have access to things like 'find my phone' or imei trackers can also monitor someone without being seen.

i think youd feel the same about this episode too,
i learnt nothing new!
actually one thing i found interesting, one of the experts said a possible scenarios was whoever had access to her devices passwords etc could basically track her from home on their own device and see exactly where she was at all times

I would be confident to think that police surveillance would have been stepped up after that aired

I guess for us it wasn't that useful as they did not have access to any inside info, just as we don't. Of what is in the public domain, we have already talked nearly every possible angle to death.

It was interesting that their discussion on electronic tracking assumed that SM had both the Apple watch and phone with her. I don't know if that has ever been confirmed.

There was many areas the program did not touch on - SM's morning appointments, CCTV footage, Mobile phone towers - location and that only one was operating, ping near the golf course, Bikies/organised crime and possible connections to the family business (wanted or unwanted).

I did learn from the program that they did use dogs in the search - the very best ,or something like that they said.

Ear phones?
And that police (most likely) can see her pass away on her digital health data :(

I don't know but I have always felt that the dinner is of major significance.
They would also need to know what direction she was going in but apparently it's pretty easy to track another person's phone if you have some tech ability, according to the tech guy on the show tonight.
