@ScottToorak "A clear explanation from Police that the husband is not a suspect would also enhance the well being of the children. As it stands right now the husband is a suspect"

This isn't correct. Police said he is NOT suspect, but everyone is person of interest. Which I took as "no one is ruled out". But he is not a suspect.

Host of The Missing Australia podcast and former detective Meni Caroutas said he would be “hazarding a guess” to make an assumption as to the progress of the police investigation.
Former detective Meni Caroutas holds grave fears for missing Ballarat mother Samantha Murphy. Picture: Sky News Australia

“Police are throwing a lot of resources at this, so it’s obviously very serious,” he told Sky News host Holly Stearnes on Sunday’s edition of Weekend Live.

“I think police initially would have spoken to the family to find out what the lady’s routine was, to find out as much information about her as they can, but also to eliminate those close to her.

“Then what happens, once they speak to the family and find out all they can, then police cast a wider net. But given all the resources police have thrown at this and the fact she’s still missing…it’s not looking good. I pray for a miracle but…hopefully there’s someone that has information and, they need to pick up the phone and call police.”

I don't blame MM for going out trying to search, I don't even think it's suspicious him going to look, I'd be racking my brains out if it was my wife or daughter or even a son that was missing, I couldn't stay at home I'd get the car and even if the police say you know stay away, I'd still try and search what farther wouldn't what husband would
I totally agree I’m just saying it now makes it hard to officially rule him out until police can pin the crime on the real attacker. If there is no firm evidence, just circumstantial, then the attackers legal defence in court will be “how do we know the husband didn’t do it, he is statistically more likely, has financial motive, and his phone was pinging in the forest also, police unfairly targeted the accused because they have a criminal history and just happened to be in the area”.

IMO

Serious question. Where do you think one hires a professional hitmen from these days? <modsnip - no link>
Even the ex special forces soldier hired in the bikie hit in Perth rolled over quick once caught.
<modsnip - no link>
It’s not easy to just hire a hitmen in Australia if you’re not a career criminal.
And lastly, you need to be rolling in cash e.g this is where drug money is perfect.
Interesting Detective Acting Superintendent Mark Hatt said no comment when asked about bikie involvement

If smartwatch can gps-track its wearer with heartbeat then it can be graphed on a time scale.

As SM is jogging to Mt.Clear at speed of 6-9kph her heart rate would be steady. This would be reflected by data on her devices.
At some point SMs gps tracking would indicate shes stopped moving. At this point on graph what is her heart rate?

Such data analysis can help develop possible scenarios:

1. Perp is known to SM and she trusts him so enters the vehicle:
Heart rate is now beating at less than jogging bpm and returning to resting heartbeat whilst her gps-tracker is now showing she's moving at vehicle speed at 40-60kmh.
2. gps is showing vehicle speed at 40-60kph and heart rate spikes markedly before it drops to zero bpm. Perhaps there's a 2nd perp in car. This data might have prompted vicpol to report they now are looking for a body.
3. SM is gps-tracking at 4-6kmh indicating she's on foot jogging, then her heart rate spikes before it drops to zero bpm indicating a fatal collision with a vehicle.

One can formulate quite a few scenarios from just 2 variables: gps-tracking and bpm

The highlighted red/white dot centres on a small dam( reservoir ) almost opposite the phone transmission tower/ small building to the southern side of Boak Rd ( cars could be parked there comfortably ).View attachment 485970

Looking at a local article (Courier, Ballarat) .... it shows a photo of 7 officers standing around outside that phone tower fence, and then another shot of those officers standing as a group with their backs to the track, several metres into the thick scrub off the track.
In the 2nd shot, the group of officers are not looking down at the ground, but looking out ahead of them. Looking at something specific? Looking out at the miles and miles of bush? Can't tell.

I would say this type of publicity is intended for someone(s) to see where the police are, and what their thoughts may be.

Sorry. I tried to describe the photos as best as I could, but I can't put them here due to the paywall.

I just thought they were interesting photos to be published in the local paper where they may be seen by locals.

imo

Really?

PS
No news?
Not good :(

Was the river checked?
I read there is a river in Ballarat.

Yes, the photos look somewhat staged. As if they have invited the media to see where they are, and once you know that they are on Boak Road it is easy to tell whereabouts on Boak Road they are (from Google streetview, and probably from personal knowledge also for the locals).

Oh well...

It seems all POIs have alibis if there are still no arrests.

IMO
Samantha might be found only by lucky chance.

Police tactics like this are not something new, they are tried and tested and have been known to rattle the perp or perps into making mistakes which have revealed themselves.

I thnk a "no comment" answer is fairly standard....

It's kind of feeling like it's the calm before the storm right now.
