People disappear in Berlin every day. Most are found quickly. But some have been missing for months or even years. They are on the police wanted lists. The Tagesspiegel presents one of them every day

Samir Beganovic has a small birthmark on his left cheek. If he is still alive today, it may be one of the few personal characteristics that have not changed. When the student left his parents' apartment in Wilmersdorf on February 12, 1994 to go to his uncle in Kreuzberg, he was almost twelve years old and still a child. He never got to his uncle's house. If Samir Beganovic is still alive, he would have his 19th birthday these days.

Witnesses claim to have seen the boy around Karl-Marx-Strasse in Neukölln during 1994, where he is said to have offered to clean windows at various shops. A few times, according to the statements, he was accompanied by another young person.

The media reported on the case again and again, and the police investigated in various directions for years, including looking for the missing man in the prostitution scene. But so far there has been no concrete information about the fate of Samir Beganovic. Perhaps the boy has now become a young adult, or he died under circumstances that remain unclear.

I wonder if police have any identifiers for him, because it sounds like perhaps they don't.

Maybe a relative can get in touch with police in Berlin and try to get the case reopened. I think if a parent, sister, brother or even another relative could give a DNA sample, it would help identify him, if he were ever found.

He was just a kid. What a sad case.

I don’t know I wasn’t able to find this information..
We dont have missing people database such as Namus here in Europe unfortunately
I don’t even know if his family is still searching for him or if they did just "give up"

Anyway, as you said, a very sad case indeed

And

Marcel Hermeking, age 10, went missing from Berlin in 1997.

Sandra Wißmann, age 12, went missing from Berlin in 2000.

A lot of kids went missing in Germany (which is not such a big country btw) around the same time period
I think some of them are definitely related
