According to radar, she hasn't filed for divorce because she doesn’t want to trigger Jesse into attacking her publicly and revealing her secrets.

What secrets does Sandra have?

I think pretty much everybody would want some things to remain private.

I assume this type of attitude is just a protective response that says this could NEVER happen to me because I live with my husband, and I would *know* if he was up to something. If you don't live with a sociopath you are probably right. If you do live with a sociopath you might not be as fortunate in those insights. (generally speaking, not directed at anyone poster).

Sandra and Jesse both travel extensively for their jobs.
Both are gone for extensive amounts of time.
He only had to play his role of a good husband for short spurts of time.
Being in hollywood you have to ignore some of the rumors or your relationship has no chance at all.

It is entirely possible she truly believed that he had a wild child past but had grown up. You do better when you know better sort of thing. Hardly the first rescuer in the world. Some might find her desire, even if misplaced, and willingness to look beyond the reputation, rumors, and misdeeds of someone's past admirable.

I personally think if she knew all these things she wouldn't be stunned and shocked to find out about some publicity hungry selling her story, or her peers coming out behind her.

A woman who leaves the house within hours of finding out, who hasn't gone back, who has made no excuses for him... that doesn't seem like a knowing and enabling spouse to me.

SUPRISE:
I did live with a sociopath, con man...I left after 2 years.
I knew truth from fiction - you can feel it.
I may not have known the truth, but I did feel it when something seemed not quite right.
And he did have the wool puled over most peoples eyes. They saw charm and Charisma - that is what I also saw early on.
He had the charm and the looks and if we walked into a party, the entire party would gravitate to him.
He was not a cheat, but he was a con job. And I was just a little person - not sophisticated yet.

Yes I know that some men are not what they seem. I am not buying any of this chit...BECAUSE I know better.
I do not think she is stunned an shocked at all. I think her ego is severely bruised because she had hopes that she can "Change him" I do not think she can tell it like it is and how long she had known about this pig, because she was selling him a a great guy; it was all for public image.
Her best PR approach is exactly what she is doing, staying mum. and letting the public just feed of the "American Sweetheart image" and put it on the scum bag. She has kept out of public sight. I have to say her PR firm is good.

He is a scum bag, but she is not in the dark. :no: :no: :no:

I wouldn't be too concerned about Sandra's well-being. She's a multi-millionaire. She has access to all of the amenities that will help her cope. Apparently she's talented, thus the Oscar, etc. When she became a star is when her personal life became fair game for scrutiny--public figure. I respect the criticism.

Average american citizen here - divorced ex when I found out he was leading anoher life that included mistresses, bondage, magazines that you could not imagine (found those in the trunk by the way).

I didn't know a thing bout this. He, too, was in the automotive field, where you can attract many women. He was sleeping with his own customers (my ex that is).

Reality hit when I had my annual and my doctor advised me I had Chlamydia. You didnt want to be in my house when I got back from that appt!

It is human nature to want to think that someone that seems nice is well meaning.
And it is harder to face that if you are protecting your image. IMHO she knew a lot. Maybe not about a long term affair which did shock her. But the rest she did know. Her PR firm is doing a great job, I have to say.

I was in shock when I became aware that my EX was a real FAR throw from what he portrayed himself to be to me and to the public.
He had many very smart people fooled to a point that he became a multi millionaire by the age of 23.

Karma is a funny thing....he lost all his millions by age of 50 and ended up taking his life, WHY his image was failing...People were getting who he is. They all wanted to know how I saw it so early on.
I say if you live with someone you get it early on if you are not into protecting your comfort zone.

My EX was not the big deal his world thought he was. Which took me 2 years to learn and leave.
Hinky Meter is something ALL women have. Blind eye is what people select to have.

Your story is familiar to me, The lady who used t do my facials was cleaning her husbands trunk one day, she thought she would surprise him, do something nice for him, she noticed the trunk was always such a mess....BUT she got the surprise...She thought he was a writer, but what he was was a womanizer writing for the industry and the picture she saw made her ill. she got rid of him that day. In fact she packed up his car and changed the locks. LOL They were married 18 months.
He did not even know what hit him.

Most people find out that its the ego that hurts more then the heart.
Once they get over the "someone else" part the heart heals.
But therapy and being famous will not allow her to live a secluded existence and she will be better off then many women who find out they were married to a cheat.

I feel she did know something was going on but due to the lives they lead; was not sure what to believe. I feel it's why they did not have kids because there was doubt; just no proof. Heck, maybe there was proof but they tried to work through their problems because the daughter was living with them. I give Sandra credit for staying & trying to work it out if that's the case.

Unless we personally know either of them, we will never know the truth & can speculate all we want. I don't believe everything I read in "celebrity mags" nor the net.

Sandra gets my sympathy/empathy due to the situation.

Songline - it must be so wonderful to be so sure of what other people you have never met are truly like and what they did or did not know. I realize you have some personal issues that relate to this situation- but you yourself stated you were at first taken in by your ex. You may have realized there was a problem earlier - but then again you most likely spent more time with each other than these two did.

There are many people out there with addictions that their spouses know nothing about. Have you read any of the articles about the people with shopping addictions racking up huge credit card debt....and you wonder how did the spouse not see all the new things.

The answer is simple- when you chose to spend your life with someone you wanted to believe the best about them. You want to believe they would never treat you in that way. That their past is their past - and yes some people do change - it's called growing up.

How in the world did we get from JJ's serial infidelities, to Sandra betraying her fans?????? That is completely unfair, in my opinion. None of us really knows anything about this, other than that there is trouble in their marriage that seems to have to do with other women. Most of us go through our bad times with some measure of privacy, and the small comfort of knowing the whole world is not second-guessing and judging us. Let's cut her some slack, for goodness sake.
