I'm having a hard time understanding how it took 5 hours to find this baby in the family's swimming pool.

Rest in peace, little precious one. :( My condolences go out to those who are mourning your death.

ITA but I guess because of this in the article they didn't check it right away?

"The pool was extremely overgrown, filled with black water and algae; it was not until the pool was almost completely drained that searchers found the child at the bottom of the deep end of the pool, Carson said".

This picture is NOT the pool from this story but what I am imagining the pool probably looked like:

Was there a pool cover for a pool not in use, especially when there's a 3 year old in the house? Pools are magnets to kids. Poor baby.

Ty for the update, @Unsolved. It makes more sense to me now that the article describes the condition of the pool. I see the article has been updated to include that info plus the pool was in fact the first place searched by divers. The article I posted last night included only what I posted above. No word on a pool cover but you'd wanna believe there was one or that the pool was enclosed in a fenced area. We'll have to wait to see what comes to light after the investigation.

Poor little Adalyn. :( She probably just wanted to have a little fun in the water.

Here's the link to the updated article.
