He has been identified, but with no further information as to what name according to the Doe Network. The Doe Network: Case File 152UMSC Oops, I see Murkywaters wrote the same...I can't seem to delete my post.

I wonder if his name will be released. I know some states protect suicide victims from being release much like in Lyle's case and also families choosing for it to be withheld. One question I do have though is that being he was hospitalized for a prior suicide attempt why didn't they have a live photo of him?

Why would they take his picture in the hospital? And if they did, it probably would be protected by privacy laws.

I was working at psychiatric hospitals around this time (1997). Many hospitals had the admitting nurse take photos of patients (polaroids) to put into their charts or medication logs for identification purposes, as arm bands were not used due to safety issues. I'll never forget the toothless old guy who did the perfect impression of "Bitter Beer Face" for his picture - it took all I had not to burst out laughing!

Oh, mental hospital, sorry, my bad. I thought you meant a regular hospital.

On these forums I always think it's better to have it mentioned several times by several people than not at all! Makes me glad that someone is thinking about them. :)

Rest in peace, Sir.

This body has been added to NamUs as #UP156273: I could see this as being either the DN having made a mistake and he is still unidentified, or Aiken County Coroner’s Office making a mistake and entering in a resolved case. Both scenarios happen annoyingly frequently.

He was added alongside a different Aiken County case from 1987, #UP156238 and the former DN 1UMSC, which Doe Network also listed as resolved in the same batch of cases from across South Carolina at the end of 2018 which cited “South Carolina Law Enforcement Division” as their source.
