This whole thing doesn't look good. I hope the lady is safe somewhere. Why would she go out with a guy she met on the internet without meeting him in a public place or without taking friends along? Many women take too many risks.

I'm afraid that she's no longer with us. What I don't understand is the age thing. She's 28 and he's 30, but he pretended to be 18. I'm curious as to why he would feel the need to lie about his age unless this was premeditated, or maybe she likes younger guys....a cheetah??

Maybe he was looking to attract someone younger but something about her caught his attention

I think he just put down a random age. I can't imagine him actively trying to convince anyone he's 18, nor could I possibly understand why a 28 year old woman would ever be interested in someone that age. That's a bit beyond cougar.

Hopefully we'll know more soon about their interactions and what happened afterwards.. :(

Ugh, so sad/scary. I can't imagine meeting up with a stranger, other than maybe in a busy restaurant during the day, with my own car. I would never dare get into another vehicle. You just can't know what could happen.

Still, 18 seems weird. Are that many people looking for an 18-year old online??

Can't imagine anyone besides other 18 year-olds, lol. As a 25 year-old the thought of a freshly high school graduated dude is not the most appealing thing.

This one is local for me, glad it's finally being covered. Summerville has a LOT of places to hide a body unfortunately

I would think people of that age (18) can meet people in real life pretty easily...but maybe not.

18 may be the default age that the app sets your profile to until you go in and set up your profile details. I've never used KiK, but I've seen several other sites use similar methods.

I feel very sad for Ashley's three children I just heard about this case from the article below.

"A man who claims he kicked a young mother out of his car when she got too drunk on their date has been arrested for obstructing justice two weeks after she vanished.

Ashley Pegram, a 28-year-old mother-of-three, left her Summerville, South Carolina home for a date with a man she had met on messaging service Kik on the evening of April 3.

Her sister, Brandy Chance, reported her missing the next day and went through her Kik account, where she found messages from a man who identified himself as 18-year-old Emoney Bon.

But when she spoke with him, it emerged he was actually a 30-year-old man, Edward Primo Bonilla."

Also local for me (I'm over in Goose Creek). Following.

eta: If you do digging around, it looks like he may be related to a sex offender in the area. And according to a hookup profile, that potential RSO relative also tends to lie about his age.

Seems to run in the family...

Arrested at 16 for lewd act on a child? :notgood: And bought alcohol for a minor at 22.

He seems to have a thing for younger people.

I wonder if Ashley had her age younger on Meet Me or Kik or whatever also? :waitasec:

With him already having two past issues with minors, and him having been soliciting people as an 18 year old when he's nearly 30, it seems odd he'd have solicited a 28 year old, particularly with his past.

Bonilla was arrested in November 2003 on a charge of committing a lewd act on a child, but the felony count was later dropped, according to the State Law Enforcement Division.

Deputies also arrested him six years later on misdemeanor charges of failing to appear for a court date and purchasing alcohol for a minor. The disposition of those charges was not immediately known.

Sadly in the People article, her sister said she met men frequently like this. Despite being told how dangerous it was.

Pegram was going through a difficult time, her sister, Brandy Chance said. She was always prone to depression and anxiety; the death of her youngest child’s father in January made it worse.

Her sister turned to alcohol, and she wasn’t easy to deal with when she drank, Chance admits.

Their mother didn’t keep alcohol in the house — Pegram lives with their mother — because she didn’t want the children to be around that. Their mother was also having Pegram share a cell phone with her because Pegram had lost or broken so many of her own cell phones when she went out, Chance said. Reasonable though those decisions may have been, their mother can’t help but look back and second-guess herself now. But even without a cell phone, Chance says, Pegram would always call when she was out overnight so her family wouldn’t worry.

It's always so haunting to see the last known video footage of a person who has gone missing, or found deceased.

They hadn't been clear on which gas station it was, but that looks like the College Park Sunoco right off of I-26. Didn't he say Kangaroo?

Eta: in earlier articles, it's reported as the Kangaroo; now he's saying it's near the Piggly Wiggly? Hmmmm.
